2. Can you ship to Paris? how much will it dust?

I live in an arid region in the Caribbean and I ordered this tent in 2016, 4 years ago.

I just opened it again last night for the first time in years and set it up in my lockdown back garden which is on the ground (more like sand here on the equator) to have a spontaneous outside camping night.

Well next to being virtually in a new bought state with no discoloration, or time induced damage the tent was virtually dustless .. I can know as I have severe allergies and hayfever.

I swear it also rooted the weeds that were growing and sweeped the back porch clean of dust&sand too.
exiting the tent I felt like I freshly showered and my clothes were folded too!
Highly recommended

3. shipping

You could set it up on a ship. Make sure to wear your flippie floppies while doing so.

4. waterproof

Yes, very waterproof. My husband used it to go deer hunting in a downpour, so it was a good test of the waterproofing. He discovered it is a summer tent, with great ventilation, which he didn’t want in a winter storm. It was barely large enough for him or two smaller children. It sets up easily too.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

molly bobich says: “My girlfriend and I just got back from Electric Forest. It was my first time using this tent. It was super windy and was raining buckets to the point where there were inches of standing water outside the tent (see photo). Without even treating it with campdry or any sealant, we were bone dry and cozy in this tent for five days, and we only had the rain fly on and a tarp that covered about half the tent. It is a freaking TANK! Been camping my whole life and never had a tent this waterproof. It’s also super breathable even
with the rain fly and a tarp; the little vent near the bottom is a great feature. Do yourself a favor and get this tent and a big tarp to go over it, and maybe a drop cloth to protect the bottom, and I promise you’ll be dry in any storm. Plus, bonus points for being super easy to set up, and tall enough to stand in! Can’t wait to use this tent again, it’s better than any of the more expensive tents I’ve ever used.

Tip for getting it back in the bag:
Fold in half longways. Then fold in thirds longways. Then roll 🙂 rain fly just folded a few times and rolled and had no problems getting it all back in the bag..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I know the whole thing is 14 x 10. What size is the dome? Is it 10×11 like the other Evanston?

Sleeping area is approximately square – about 10X10. The porch is about 4 ft deep and 10 ft wide on the sleeping area side, but the front porch corners are angled, so the front width of the porch is only about 9 ft.

2. If i was going to lay a tarp down first before setting the tent up(so nothing pokes through bottom), how big of a tarp would i need?

we have a 16×20 ft tarp that we slightly fold over about 2 ft. that gives us about 3 ft in front of the tent as an entrance outside of the screened in area. you definitely need a large tarp for this tent even though it may look ridiculous when you fold it out 🙂

3. With the back being 80% screened, does this make it too cold inside for kids (just in regards to regular cold mountain mornings–not winter camping)?

We went camping in this tent in mid-September at approx 12,000 ft above sea-level in Colorado and yes, not having a permanent cover over the back of the screened portion made it very cold. We ended up having to cover the back screen wall with moving blankets we had in the back of our car. This is just a one season tent for high altitudes, summer.

4. Does the screened in portion of the tent have zip up flaps in case it rains? It is hard to tell in the pictures. Does the screen room have a floor?

Hi! The screen room does have a floor- same type of plastic floor as the main portion of the tent. The windows on the inside of the tent have zip up flats, but the screened in portion at the apex of the tent does not. That is covered only by the rain fly.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. can this be set up inside?

This has been the best tent ever!!! As long as you have the space to set it up in it can go anywhere you want it too. My Boyfriend and I have been camping for over 20 years and this is the best tent we have ever had 🙂

2. When did Coleman start selling tents without rain fly’s?

The tent has an integrated rain fly. There’s a video on the Coleman site that shows it performing. For me though, I’d buy the optional rain fly accessory for added protection and ventilation.

3. It’s not waterproof ok, what about dust in a desert environment? would the inside be full of dust after a week ?

If you were to keep the zipper windows closed you would have a sauna. The tent is not torrential rain proof, but it is waterproof and that goes for inside as well as out.

4. how big is it when packed up in the bag?

If you don’t expand the bag, the tent packed inside the bag is 47″ x 10″ x 9″

We had it set up in the midwest when a tornado-y thunderstorm rolled through; we sought higher ground till it passed, when we returned, she was safe and sound and still in the ground. Not completely waterproof, but we only got a bit of dew/sweat on the interior walls, and nothing on the floor.

The only “con” I have to note: I wish there were windows on all sides, so when you are inside you can enjoy the view from all angles..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does it come with everything you need to set it up or do I need to purchase other items?

Yes, it comes with everything you need to set it up. The only thing I would suggest is to buy some seam sealer and go around the seams to prevent water leaks. But it includes the rainfly, stakes, directions, etc. I love our tent, I hope you do too!

2. How long does it take to set up?

The first time it took about 30 stressful minutes.I did it by myself so it would take a lot less time with 2 people.I can now set it up by myself in about 10 minutes. It’s super easy.Make sure you follow the instructions as they are color coded. It’s a great tent especially the door. The only negative is the screened in area is kinda small and does not have a floor. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

3. Do the overall dimensions for the tent include the screened area? If not, can anyone provide the dimensions for that space?

According to the description, the 17×9 dimension is for the tent sleeping area, which would not include the porch. It says that the screened porch is additional, which would mean that it is not included in the 17 x 9 dimension given

4. When used with the room separator, is the rear door a separate enterance?

The room divider goes from front to back, and not side to side, if that’s what you’re asking. Because the doors arent aligned, each door leads to a separate “room”. Here’s a vid that shows you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYvLW1_YSfk

An auto closing screen door? Are you kidding me? Ingenious! No more hassle of zippering and unzippering the tent during the day—just walk right in.
And the head-room! At over 6 ft tall—being able to walk around inside this tent without hunching over like a Neanderthal is refreshing.
For those complaining about leaks and/or difficulties erecting this tent; here are some basic rules of camping.
1) ALWAYS set up your camping gear in your yard a few days prior to actually leaving. This ensures you know how to set it up and that you have all the parts and materials you need and that everything is in working order (grills, flashlights, lanterns, etc) Better to work out the kinks in the comfort of your own home and at your leasure—with an internet connection if needed than in the woods, with the sun setting, the mosquitoes biting, when all you want to do is get to sitting by the fire and drinking a beer.
2) ALWAYS waterproof your tent with Scotchguard ESPECIALLY BRAND NEW TENTS prior to leaving on your trip. Tents do not typically come waterproofed—the new ones claim to have waterproof bases (that glossy fabric that makes up the floors of the tent) but people misunderstand that as meaning the entire tent came waterproofed—THEY DO NOT. The sides and top of brand new tents are not factory waterproofed. You must spray a few coats of Scotchguard over the entire tent and fly—take special care to really spray the seams as the simple act of sewing punches thousands of tiny holes in the fabric—Scotchguard will fill those right up.
3) Buy a vapor barrier (a good, heavy, plastic drop cloth from a hardware store—I tend to go with at least 6 mil). New tents claim to have waterproof floors, but to extend the life or your tent and to ensure that you will not wake up to water on the floor, buy a vapor barrier and trim it to be at least 6″ smaller than your tent’s footprint on all sides. If your vapor barrier is visibly sticking out from under your tent, rain will land on it and water will wind up under (and therefore, usually, IN your tent). Vapor barriers also help protect the floor of your tent from abrasions from any small rocks or pebbles you may have missed when clearing your site prior to setting up your tent.

HAVE FUN!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does this tents have a prop 65 warning?

Yes

2. How good is the ventilation? Whether it can keep comfortable during hot summer camping.

Good for hot weather. Used it in Florida. If anything, it’s better for hot weather and not a good insulator for cold.

3. Does this tent come with anything to cover up windows or do I need to buy something to cover?

The window is made of double-layers clothes that you can cover it by using zipper. It is same as the door.

4. Can one adult set it up easily?

It may take a little time to set it up for the first time. After getting familiar with how to operate, you can quickly set up in ten minutes.

TOP 1000 REVIEWER says: “We have wanted to go camping for a long time, so finally made the jump to purchase a tent. My girls also like backyard camping and this has been great. It really is a big tent and our family of 6 will complement it wonderfully. I am not sure if 6 adults with bags and all will have more than sleeping room, but it should work. Instructions seem easy to follow and you think you are nearly done and then you realize you don’t know where anything goes. So, I will try and advise based on our first time setup experience

– it took quite some time….. but really, the setup should be quicker each and every other time around.

Tent does need to be spread out, and you have to make sure poles are locked open. But I missed the lock/unlock thing…. though it was printed. Pinched myself in the process and grabbed a bandaid, and got back on track. (Grab the pieces gently and stay calm…). Someone taller may need to help with the pull/push of the main center piece to get it completely up in the middle. *Before getting the center piece sorted out completely, notice the groove in the center – you will need to use this later. I was able to get the tent propped up alone, but I am only 5 feet tall, and struggled a bit. We did things in wrong orders (it seemed), so I will tell you what to do here (in the right order!!)…

After the middle is up, you will have to put the long poles into the sides. There are sleeves that they go through, from front to back, and the pole ends go into the smaller holes on the tent corners where it will be anchored down.

Stakes have to go in once you know how “out” it will spread, and pull out the corners, put the stakes through, 4 corners, plus 2 in front and 2 in back. There is a 3rd shorter pole and it goes from front to back and rests in the groove at the top of the center piece, that I mentioned earlier. The pole cannot be placed in until the rain cover is on. (No rain cover means no 3rd shorter pole used.)

If using rain cover, situate the cover so that the upside-down V is over the front and back window. Trust me- put it looking like the front entrance is being blocked, and when you put the 3rd shorter pole in, it will boost it up. After rain cover is situated, it is probably best to Velcro the rain cover to the tent poles right now, since it all needs to be pinned down anyway before that last pole goes in. Pull down the black hooks on the rain cover and attach them to the staked-down corners. There is a circular grip for those hooks.

Feel free to put the 3rd shorter pole in now, and the ends sit in pockets over front entrance and back window. It sits in the groove at the top middle, and don’t forget to tie the inner rain cover straps (it is just a simple tie-up sort of thing) to the pole located in the top center portion of the rain cover. One more thing to do before exploring – use the orange tie-downs located on the sides of the rain cover and stake them to the ground separately. There are a total of 6 of these. Be careful with stakes when getting them into the ground – they can bend if forced in at an angle, but you get a total of 16 stakes in the bag, so you have 2 extra.

One thing to take notice of is all the zipper openings – the front door entrance has multiple zippers. Be careful when closing as the tent has to be taut when you close from the inside – we had the zipper sort of not work well for us until we saw to hold it down while swinging the zipper around. There is mesh everywhere so without the rain cover you have a view of the sun and the stars and the trees….. the bottom is tarp material so it is weatherproof lining, to a point, but I am sure, like everything, this tent also has its limits.

Taking the tent down is way quicker obviously – just a few minutes and way less frustration. Just be careful and not trip over the cords or stakes. Watch where you are walking.

Great value, honestly, and once I worked out what was needed – like basically everything LOL – I fell in love with this tent. It was a rough beginning though, TBH… I definitely recommend this tent as a good family camping tent. Worth the buy!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What are the dimensions for the 10 person tent?

Hi Dawne:
Here are the dimensions: Dimensions/Weight:

Floor Dimensions:20 ft. x 10 ft.
Center Height: 78 in.
Floor Area:177.5 sq. ft.
Packed Size:27.5 in. x 11 in. x 11 in.
Carry Weight: 27.1 lbs.

2. what is the product dimension?

The actual dimensions are listed in the answer above this one. I wanted to just reiterate the first answer herethis tent is HUGE. It felt like I needed a football field of flat ground to set it up on. Photos on my review.
It really is big. Really big. Like the other person said, it would easily fit 3 quien air mattresses, or two with a couple of cots/bedrolls and a walkway.
Great for a family of 4-8 or a group of friends. 10 man is what it says and for once I think you could actually fit 10 people in it without anyone being squished. 6 or 8 is better just so you have someplace to walk.

3. How does the porch stay dry from rainfall?

There is a built in canopy that goes over the top of the “porch” area.

4. Is this at least a 3 season tent?

Warm weather

Long review ahead, but I think a tent kinda needs one.

What can I really say? This tent is HUGE! It did the job. I honestly underestimated the size…I really only need it for myself and my youngest son (13) who enjoys camping with his disabled mom. I also usually add whoever needs tent space…but even still this tent is overkill. It says “10 man” but if you wanted to get cozy I bet 12 would fit, more if many were children. But the must comfortable configuration would be 6 total. 3 adults/parents on one side and kids/3more adults on the other with the middle section being a common storage area for duffle bags and such. 3 or 4 more people in the center area would be fine unless someone needed to get out at night.
However…for the price I paid ($108 plus tax) it’s a fantastic value no matter the size…even if it does feel like it needs a football field worth of space. Learn from my harmless mistake and check the dimensions to make sure it’ll fit on level ground in the space you’ll have to work with most often.

I didn’t set it up or take it down as I’m disabled, but my friend and my son did and both agree that it’s really quite easy to set up. Tear down its always harder because you always seem to be in the sun, but that isn’t the tents fault.

As for durability, we have only used it for one long weekend trip so far, but nothing snagged or broke despite abandoning the ground layer tarps due to high wind. We were right on the bank of the river and set up in high winds (and it was still easy despite it being brand new and none of us having set it up before) so we choose to anchor to the trucks the first night, we never actually needed to do that.

The material seems pretty thin, but I expected that as most tents are thin these days. This would NOT be a good winter or late fall tent, but I think it’s fine otherwise. Having to remind the entire rain fly for airflow seemed like it would be an issue, but out was really easy to remove up to 2/3 of it without it blowing away.

The reason I chose this tent and design was for the 3 season wind rating and shape/style. I also wanted an attached screen room as a bug “airlock.” We camp at the local lake a lot and the wind howls at 30mph at least half the time. A cabin tent would not hold up to our local gusts, standard done tents are smaller than we wanted(single room,) or available options were of the style we have set up before and hated… and other options (like an SUV tent) cost nearly as much as tent camper.

This tent was the right style, has a screen room, was large enough (too large, really,) and well within my price range. It checked all the boxes.

In my photos you can see the tent compared to both a full size pickup and my Suburban with 3 rows. It’s really, really big…really. I’ll add better photos from a friends phone later.

The one negative which isn’t really one unless you’re like my bff who insists that everything must fit in it’s original packaging (ha!) Is that there’s no way this thing the will ever be shoved back into the bag it came in…that would be like a tent giving birth in reverse. It doesn’t go back in. I was a smart grasshopper and anticipated this. Right here on Amazon I found a pack of three HUGE oversized basic duffle bags for like $15. I intended to vacuum seal some of my soft camping stuff and use the huge bags to protect the vacuum bags…but that idea was a huge bust. BUT the extra duffle bag I brought along was perfect for this tent to fit easily, without PRECISE folding and a lot of foul language. There’s even extra room for tarps, better stakes, extra guidelines, rope, and a rubber mallet…and still zero strain on the zipper and room for more stuff we probably don’t need. The bag even had the same color scheme.

As for water resistance, we didn’t experience any rain so I can’t judge that, but I’ll update once that eventually happens later this summer.

Bottom line…at the price I paid or the current price of $159, this tent is a really good deal..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. what are the dimensions length x width x height ?

Length:11’5″ Width 6’5″ Height:4″4′

2. how does this tent perform in cold weather like 30 degrees F?

I recently took the Duo Maxx with cocoon on a Cub Scout camping trip. Temperatures were low 30’s the first night and low 40’s the next. This tent combo performed very well. I reccomend adding a footprint under the tent and be sure to keep all the vents open to help combat condensation. This is a great, versatile tent.

3. What is the pump for?

Hi Brad. If you purchase the Combo, then there is an insulated inner tent that has air poles. You will need a pump to blow up the air poles.

4. This price is for both the tent and cocoon?

This price is for the Duo Maxx only. The 599.00 is for the Duo Maxx and the Cocoon Maxx.
