Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. how heavy is it?

The amazon page on this product lists the shipping weight at 3.6 pounds, which seems about right to me. The iron is solid, but not uncomfortably heavy. It works much better than other irons I’ve owned.

2. Would anyone know how long the cord is? Thank you.

Sure do! I just measured it, and it was longer than I thought: TOTAL LENGTH: 98 inches, two inches longer than an 8 foot (12X8=96″) tape measure ;)) Hope this helps out with your decision.

3. What is the wattage?

On inspection I am seeing these specs 1100W 120V 60Hz

4. does it have self-cleaning function

Not like the new ones. YOu can have the burst of steam. The self cleaning on my expensive iron wasn’t worth much. So I don’t miss anything.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Jimmy Boy says: “This is like the iron my Grandma and Mother used (I’m nearly 60) and no wonder. It’s EXACTLY what an iron should be. Heavy (just nicely balanced in the hand); hot, quick-to-heat, completely reliable and adjustable with ONE easy-to-see dial/lever; CLEAR temperature/fabric-types indicated right where you can see them; ONE hole for pouring in filtered/distilled water; ONE simple ‘steam-on/off’ button easily accessible right where your thumb is on the handle. ‘Feels like you’re in a professional laundry; I bought a cable-caddy/holder which keeps the cable up/off the fabric and this is VERY helpful… shoulda had one years ago. Makes it a
breeze. Do NOT be put off thinking this looks old-fashioned, it IS, and that’s a GOOD thing. Seriously; NO-one could find ANYthing to complain about with this beauty..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Do you need the metal head?

As previously mentioned, the metal head acts heats up and can be used as a traditional iron, but for steaming it’s bulky (large diameter) and too heavy to hold for any length of time. I exchanged the metal head for the plastic head

2. How do you hang clothes to steam? Can you hang them from the steamer itself?

Yes, I use a plastic hanger bc the wood can stain your clothing. There is a spot to hang next to where you hook the hose at the top.Love this steamer.Word of warning, do not leave water in it when not in use. After each use, I take the water bucket out and allow it to continue steaming until the water in the machine is gone. This prevents spores from growing and prolongs usage of steamer I believe.

3. Is it possible to create creases in pants? How?

I needed to crease napkins so i just laid them on the ironing board and “ironed” therm with the steamer. It worked perfectly. I imagine you would be able to do the same with your pants.

4. Can this be used on bare floors such as linoleum or wood?

If you want a good, reasonably-priced floor steamer, I would recommend a Shark. I’ve had one for a couple of years now, and I love it! I paid well less than $100 for it; though I don’t remember exactly what I paid, I believe it was even less than $50 on sale at a local big box.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

PenName says: “I was looking for a professional steamer for my wedding and life. The J-2000 fit the bill perfectly. I have worked with the J-4000 as someone who worked in retail but wanted something a little smaller but by the Jiffy brand as their steamers are amazing. The J-2000 is very easy to fill with distilled water and provides about an hour to an hour and a half of steaming (all depends on the fabric you are steaming, Linen will really absorb the water and even with the j-4000, I was refilling it in about 45 minutes when our linen shipments arrived).
Like the J-4000, it is easy to use and works so well. If you have not used a steamer before, take your time. Focus on the hard lines and steam inside and outside of the garment but be careful not to burn yourself. The hose will heat up and if you go inside of a garment you are not allowing the steam the ability to escape. I have not had the sputtering I sometimes had with the J-4000, so no hot water drops on my feet as I steam. The J-2000 heats quickly (with the J-4000 you allow the water to heat and them click it over to steam about a 20 minute process. the J-2000 is just a click on and it was steaming within 10 minutes.) and works beautifully. It has the power of the J-4000 without being as large. Great for around the house and smaller retail establishments. It steamed my veil beautifully and took the hard lines in the silk robes I picked up for my bridal party out so quickly. Excellent product, great brand, awesome smaller size. Who needs an iron with this!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I have a twenty year old Jiffy steamer with the water bottle that I would like to update to a newer model. Do you need to remove the hose before emptying the base and is the base heavy on this model?

The base is heavy, yes. I don’t know about the hose but I believe you don’t need to remove it. I would recommend getting the smaller jiffy steamer with the plastic water container instead of this. This one is not much more powerful and very cumbersome.

2. How long can you leave the steamer in the Standby mode?

As long as you need to.

3. Hi. I am from Cyprus and I am looking for Jiffy steamer J-4000 but it must be 230volt. Could you find me one and tell me the postage price as well.

Aneta,Thank you for your email. Please contact our international department. international@wawak.com.We would be glad to quote this for you. Our hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 8pm located in New York State.Sincerely,Gerrie

4. Hi, can I use this steamer with a 110v home connection?

Yes
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Amazon Customer says: “before I purchased this steamer I went online and read all the reviews to determine which one should I get the 2000 or the 4000. As many of the reviews mentioned that the 2000 is too weak to deliver iron like results, I went with the 4000 model. I am thrilled with the results that my first reaction was ” every woman deserves one of these!” it works great on cotton, T-shirts and pants in particular. I’m even wearing some shirts and dresses that I’d stopped wearing before because they wrinkle so bad and they’re hard to iron. I use it

I use it on my husbands collared shirts, it’s not exactly the same results as ironing, more like 85 to 90% the same, which is enough result for me to give up ironing. I’m sure as I learn to use it better I will even get better results (it’s already getting better and it’s been only one month) point is that made me happy that I didn’t get the J-2000 as it would have been definitely too weak to give similar result.

the only thing I didn’t read reviews about is whether to get the iron or the metal head. So after talking with the company I chose the metal one as it is more durable.. well that was a bad choice!

the metal handle is extremely heavy and it gets really hot. it’s so hard to handle and I feel that it’s an accident waiting to happen. In order to get good results and prevent condensation in the hose, I hang the clothes up over the door. after steaming few pieces I get so tired and I stop for a break. I was at a store the other day and they had the J4000 with a plastic head and I asked to try it:
– it’s much much lighter
-it’s much easier to handle
– it doesn’t heat up and feels much safer

the only way for the head to break is if it’s dropped real hard on the floor, I can’t see how I could loose control over the plastic one while with the metal one I throw it every time I feel the heat from the metal and I get scared!

it will cost me 71 dollars to get the plastic one, that’s expensive and I wish I went with it from the beginning. However, it is worth it because I know that with it this steamer would be perfect.

if you are to order the head without the hose you’d have to cut the hose that you have and connect that had which can be dangerous and is not recommended!
I haven’t used the iron for a month and I don’t see me using it again in the future

I just love my Jiffy.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What is the advantage of digital??

It is faster and more true to desired temp for appropriate fabric(s). The ‘auto off’ isn’t necessary for me as I am old and was brought up to shut things off when I have finished!

2. I don’t see the wattage anywhere in this description. Anyone know the wattage of this iron? Thanks!

I was going to give the same answer as Jeanette Peterson. Love my iron! I’ve had it for about 5 years and use it daily for quilting. I am also a seamstress doing wedding gowns etc. It has never failed me.

3. What is the weight of the iron

With water in it it weighs 3lbs, its a little heaver than my last iron but if you ask me it works better with a little more weight to it.I have some carpel tunnel and it doesn’t bother me at allI really like this iron..

4. Is it lightweight

Not really lightweight but not too heavy. I think it is a really good iron for the price. I use it almost every day.

What I love about it:
The weight. It’s not too heavy but it’s heavy enough. Too light of an iron won’t do the job well.
The steam is fantastic. When turned up to the highest setting it really puts it out.
The quickness of heat-up….one word: seconds. Boom.
No drips, no weird water marks. Ever. (Those are deal breakers to me)

What I don’t love:
Non-retractable cord. I know, I’m lazy.
The location of the steam adjustment. Inevitably I accidentally turn it down (or off) while I’m ironing.

Bottom line: Do not waste your money on a different iron. This one is THE BOMB. No drips, no splatters, amazing steam, perfect weight, great soleplate (stainless and smoooooth), excellent ability to get around buttons and in pleats with the ridge around the point….it’s just a fantastic iron and an amazing price..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. My product stopped working and it wont produce steam even with green light on. Any clues on how to fix this ?

My device wouldn’t produce steam after just one use and a year in storage. So, from on-line reading, I figured the problem was an airlock (bubbles of water) trapped in the internal tube. It is otherwise heating and light indications are normal. So I let it cool, pulled out the water reservoir and placed it head down into the bath sink (do ensure the device is unplugged, cooled for this step). Take about three or four inches of aquarium air hose tubing (you can purchase it at pet supply). It’s about 1/8 or 3/16 inside diameter. Push one end over the water supply inlet, inside the cavity where the water reservoir normally sits. Now take a medium to small size syringe. Fill it with water (best the pure kind you purchase at pharmacies – well you might just try air alone). Now forcibly use the syringe to flush a solid stream of water through the device internal tubing. Stand the travel steamer up. Removed the improvised maintenance hose. Fill the water reservoir and replace it. Now turn your steamer on, let it heat the required time and steam away. It worked like a charm in my case – steamed mightily. I am saving my bit of resourced tubing and the medium plastic syringe – with instructions – and storing it with my steamer device, since I only use it every six months or more. I know it will air or water bubble lock the next time round. I will be ready.

2. I only used my steamer once. I tried using it few days ago and it won’t steam. It heats up, light turns green, it just won’t produce any steam!

THE FIX: My device stopped working after first refill. Both lights were on and it made continous grinding sound, but no steam. Here’s how I fixed it. No disassemly is required. No need to flush it with vinegar either unless it was used heavily for months.
The problem is likely that air bubbles get in a line inside the steamer’s handle which leads from a reservoir to a pump. Water pump is not powerful enough to create vacuum to dislodge the bubbles.
1. Fill the reservoir completely with distilled water. Make sure to top it off. The idea is to have as little air inside a reservoir as possible. Put the reservoir back in place.
2. Turn the steamer upside down. That way gravity helps water to clear air bubbles and get to the pump. Make sure to point the steamer away from hands, faces, cats, etc. while holding it in this awkward position.
3. Turn on the steamer. Tap the steamer repeatedly, not too lightly, but not too hard. This helps to dislodge air bubbles.
4. If you’re lucky, after 10-15 seconds the sound from the steamer will change and it will start producing steam.

3. I had your steamer and it died. Has this steamer been improved or will I have to throw it out again

I have been using this steamer for about three months now, at least weekly. Most of my pants and shirts are cotton, made in India and steam better than ironing.Have had no problems,I use distilled water, and I absolutely would recommend this steamer to anyone. I have had different ones in the past, and I by far like this one the best.Ilove the attachments that come with it as well.

4. One person said that you have to use only distilled water with this; is that accurate? Why would there be a problem using regular tap water?

My original response was based on my 2012 Model GS23, and thanks to a comment on my answer, it needs to be revised.I see the newer GS23R model’s instructions (available online) do say to use distilled water to prevent mineral deposits in the boiler that can reduce performance or clog the water system.I guess Conair may have had reports of clogs (or modified the newer model) and changed their instructions. (Original answer:The instructions that came with mine say “Open the inlet cover and fill the reservoir with everyday tap water (filtered water may reduce hard water problems).” I’ve been using tap water for 4 years, it’s used about once a week, and it still works fine, no problems.)

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Amazon Customer says: “This thing runs a small pump that can get clogged for whatever reason. Simple fix: Use a 10ml medicine syringe that you can pick up for free at any local pharmacy (ask the pharmacist for one) fill it up with water, remove the water resivoir and place the syringe into the rubber hole that sucks up the water from the resivoir, turn the steamer on and while the trigger is pulled force water into the pump with the syringe. No need to go too fast so you don’t damage the pump. It should take only 5 to 10 seconds to push
it through. Voila! It’s fixed!.

  • Model Number: 0611
  • Item Package Dimensions: 5.0″ L x 6.5″ W x 11.0″ H
  • Item Package Weight: 3.0 lb
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does it have an on/ off switch or do you just have to unplug it?

There is no switch simple plug/unplug

2. can you actually travel with it?

Sure you can travel with it. It’s not much different than bringing a full size hair dryer. I only travel with it if my husband needs to wear a suit on his trip, otherwise my clothes can all use an iron.

3. Can I use it in Italy?

Italy’s power is 220V, so you will need to use a 110 to 220V power adapter before you plug it in, and don’t forget that there is no standard socket in Europe and they can vary from lean Italian to sturdy German and French to absolutely ridiculous UK plugs and sockets, so you will need an adapter too.

4. silk

I steamed silk with great success. I love this steamer.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

G Snap says: “Although I have an excellent quality Rowenta iron, pulling out an ironing board every time I needed to iron something turned into a big PITA and I don’t have anywhere to keep it set up. So I asked friends and they all said “get a steamer!”. I work for a major clothing retailer and they use the Jiffy pro in their stores. Sure, I’d love one, but spending hundreds of $ is crazy for personal use and it takes about 10 minutes for the huge water chamber to heat up. So when researching the Jiffy I came across the personal hand-held
size and thought it might be a good choice since (once they’re up to temp and working) the pro model works great. The selling point for me – IT COMES IN PINK. So my husband won’t run off with it (he travels a lot for work).
Sure, I know I can go to a major retailer and get a little hand-held steamer for a lot less, but there’s features about this one that makes it better. Filling it with water is super easy. The steam cap pops off with a quick twist and the opening is plenty big to either fill it under a tap or a container (I use filtered tap water and fill a 32oz empty seltzer bottle since I use this in my bedroom.)
It heats up in about 2 minutes and holds enough water to well steam 2-3 items, such as a pair of pants, shirt, and a jacket.
Emptying when you’re done is super easy. Again, twist off the cap and pour it out. This is recommend so the water inside doesn’t get skunky, wich can make clothes stinky, and some water sources have minerals and gunk in them that can make inside the steamer gross. The directions say to wait until the unit has cooled but I wait until the water stops boiling and then dump it very carefully so I don’t get scalded. Then I stand it upside down on the edge of my sink to dry.
The cord is heavy duty and wraps around the steamer, and the plug end has a clip so it attaches to the cord and keeps it wound up and tidy.
And god forbid anything should ever go wrong with it, such as dropping and cracking the steamer cap, Jiffy sells individual parts.
I expect to have this thing for the rest of my life, it’s that freakin awesome..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. does this iron have a self clean feature?

Yes. I haven’t used it yet, but it’s called the Auto Clean feature. It’s only 3 steps – fill the tank, allow the iron to heat up, hold the iron over a sink while holding down the Auto Clean button. The hot water and steam that comes through the vents will clean the iron. I hope this helps!

2. I bought this iron, model ICR06X, and there was an extra piece of plastic in the box. It’s dark brown, about 2 inches long, and has a narrow channel that appears to fit over the pointed end of the iron. It was packaged in a separate piece of cardboard, which makes me think that it was intentionally included. Anyone kno…

I just contacted Black and Decker and this is just a piece of the packaging to protect the nose of the iron so that it doesn’t get damaged in transportation. The plastic piece keeps the cardboard it’s wrapped in rigid. It can be discarded.

3. is this iron dual voltage or strictly 110v

110v only

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is this an iron, or a keyboard (as illustrated in your Amazon ad!!!)

Sorry for that, the listing is for iron.

2. If I’m ironing with my right hand, which button will be under my thumb (to the left, of the two buttons) the shot of steam or the spray? It’s blocked out in the photos. Rowenta has the steam button on the left, which is more natural, IMO. Some “Turbo” model that’s very highly rated had it on the right for some unknown …

It is on the left. I never thought about what a problem that might be for left handed folks. But for us right-hand-ers this is a great iron. It is very substantial, well made, doesn’t leak It is heavy – in a good way- the sole plate makes great contact, no need to press down on the iron for a good sharp crease.

3. T-Fal Easycord Nonstick

I returned my D6000 because it leaked and after having it for just a month or so it completely just stopped on me. It wouldn’t heat up any more. Maybe just a single item malfunction, but it was very frustrating. I now have a Rowenta dw 2070 and I love it.

4. What is it’s watts? 1200 or 1500 or 1700?

Thank you for your question, PJ. This iron operates at 1,500 watts, 120 volts, 60 hertz, and 12.5 amps.
