Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. can you make mayonaise in this

Yes, I make mayonnaise with my old Ninja square blender with the tiered blades all the time.Don’t make mayonnaise if there is a thunder storm in the forecast that day, it won’t emulsify. The 4 steps I have followed successfully are:Step 1: place eggs, oil and spices into large blender with blades.Blend on high till thoroughly combined, using a small scraper to get any spices that stuck to the side incorporated into the mixture.Step 2: slowly blend half the oil in a trickle into the egg mixture. To do this without making a huge mess in the kitchen, I drape a dish towel over my pouring hand, place the tip of a measuring cup with the oil into the spout opening, fold the spout cover down as far as it will go, cover the whole business with the towel, and slowly pour a small stream the size of a pencil into the pitcher while blending on Dough or Crush (low or medium). You can slow down if you think it will help but I haven’t found it to be very fussy about how quickly I add the oil. It will begin to wobble the machine once the emulsion occurs, and you may need to hold the base or lock it to the counter to stabilize the machine.Turn off, scrape down, repeat if the sides are covered with oil.Step 3.Dump in the acid (vinegar or lemon juice) and blend all at once quickly, scrape down sides, then blend again.Emulsion will be slightly looser after adding vinegar, but still thickened. Step 4:As in Step 2, trickle in the remaining portion of oil on medium (crush) speed, and expect the wobble and strain of the increased thickness of the emulsion till all the oil is blended in.Scrape down. The resulting product may be much more runny than you expect compared to a commercial mayonnaise out of a store bought jar. It usually thickens alot when chilled, and the density of the emulsion may be different from batch to batch. https://www.food.com/recipe/easy-blender-mayonnaise-185064 The recipe is located on Food.com by Alleycatb titled Easy Blender Mayonnaise Since I like to use local organic free range eggs, organic oil and spices, raw apple cider vinegar, and honey instead of sugar,I really like to make my own mayonnaise from scratch! It allows me to make a highly costly, nutrient rich, raw product affordably, at least comparable to the cost of conventional mayo that is full of stuff I don’t want to eat.

2. Anyone have trouble with the single serve blade buring out?

My original Ninja, bought back in 2014, was AMAZING. I put it through hell, making 2 to 3 protein shakes a day, for almost 7 YEARS straight. Finally, as you folks stated, the rubber nubs wore off, and the rubber “sealers” on top of the base, just fell out and wouldn’t go back in. So, we purchased a new Ninja back in January 2020, same model. I can tell you, 100%, this is NOT the same as my old one. It might look identical, but the performance, is no where NEAR as good. Every single time I use it, it makes a burning rubber smell. I have a feeling it will not last long. The rubber sealers in the base, have already come out. Very disappointing.

3. noise level??

This critter is noisy. But you can always wrap a blanket around it to cut down on the noise. Since my wife sleeps much later than I, it is best if I find a way to muffle the thing because I use it very early in the morning.

4. Where is this product manufactured?

Take a wild guess haha but this thing is incredible..no joke. It is so powerful.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Ronald J. Weagley says: “We replaced an expensive blender ($400) that died after 5 or 6 years (old blender died with metal shot flying out everywhere) with this blender. We researched many more expensive ones and then decided to try this one verses buying another $400 or $500 blender. It is very powerful and straight forward to use. It is powerful and easy to clean too. We really like the cups that come with it for a quick personal smoothie! The design for pouring is very nice also! We have had no issues chopping up ice, ice cream, sherbet, yogurt and fruit (apples that were
sliced, bananas, avocados, pears that were sliced, strawberries, raspberries, blue berries, celery, peanut butter, peanuts and a lot more. It has been two months using it and we really are glad we purchased this blender as it does everything we need – smoothies, shakes, deserts, puddings and energy drinks!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is this blender loud?? Trying not to wake othere in the am!

I use it with towel around it in the morning. it’s loud not as bad as some. I mostly do not wake the baby that is 10 feet away.

2. Can this blender chop nuts in a smoothie, if I wanted to add a handful of nuts to it?

Yes it can. It will destroy ice, frozen fruit, nuts, and seeds. Just be sure to hold it down for a few seconds and let it up for a few seconds (basically pulse it with a pause in between) to make sure you get it as blended as you’d like. I love mine. I highly recommend it.

3. Can this blender chop kale very good?

Extremely well, the ninja can handle anything you put in it. I did a 12 day kale/spinach smoothie cleanse and it was perfect

4. What is the measurement on this blender – height, width etc

The base (motor) is 7″ tall and 4″wide (at the top – the widest part). With the beaker mounted the full height is 13″

Cons
Only 2 Cups: Not much of a problem as long as they last. I had 4 cups with the last blender, and after 4 years I was down to 1.
Cups are Tall: Not horribly tall, but enough that I have to use a different shelf in the fridge at work.
Drinkability of Lids is limited: I drink fruit smoothies, and while the lid opening seems big enough, the air hole is too small to allow the smoothie to pour out fast enough and the air hole can easily get clogged by a tiny drop of smoothie. This wouldn’t be much of a problem if all you had to do was drink a little slower, but the smoothie can’t get back into the cup because of the bad airflow, which causes it to spill around the mouthpiece of the lid. Maybe it’s not a big deal, but I don’t like it.
UPDATE: If you don’t cover the whole mouthpiece with your mouth so that there’s room for air, the flow seems to be a lot better. Maybe my smoothie was just a bit less thick today too, but it doesn’t seem to be as bad as before, so I guess I just figured out how to drink out of it.
2ND UPDATE: Yeah, thickness matters. A smoothie that’s really thick just requires you to take off the lid to drink it..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is the container glass

In the video in the images he answers “BPA FREE” meaning it’s plastic and safe from the toxins that’s known to harm us. What I like is it isn’t too heavy on its own so I can move it across the kitchen one handed since I walk with a cane which I can’t do with a glass pitcher blender without a higher risk of dropping and shattering half of a $100+ Device that’s used 3-5+ times a week in my kitchen.

2. how loud is the blender at full power?

All blenders are loud.

3. How does this compare to the NutriBullet 900?

I know this is an old question but hopefully it can help new customers- I’m sorry but I have to disagree with the only other person who answered this question I’ve had the Nutribullet 900 for 2 years now- I’ve never used ice- I freeze my bananas and use that as the “ice” for my smoothies – the bullet pulverizes kale and spinach with no problem- I put a clove of garlic in there cause I’m a health freak- kills it- my smoothies turn green and super smooth I finally made the same smoothie with this Ninja 610- here’s what I’ll say..the ninja sucked at making a green smoothie ( even with no ice!!) my smoothie was still white with a million little green particles floating around that I had to chew. Gonna keep it anyway because the bullet is too small to blend soups and sauces and this will do the trick and everyone needs a big blender in their kitchenbottom line-this is good for bulk- but get the much smaller bullet if you want anything smooth in your smoothies – I have both so I’m spoiled 😜

4. Can it handle vegetables like spinach, celery and cucumber?

No- Our typical drinks have Kale and/or spinach, celery, cucumber, lemon or lime, ginger, and sometime frozen berries. No matter what combo we try, no matter how much liquid we put in, it absolutely does not make a smooth liquid drink.

There are some products that just change your life. I wanted to get in on the smoothie thing, and there simply is no other way to do it than with a blender, and no better blender to do it with.

The blender is mostly plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap. It is very secure. It locks onto the base with a satisfying click. The lid locks down with a similar click. Unless you have heard both clicks, the blender won’t start. And good thing. The blades are very sharp. They are angled to create a vortex that instantly turns any fruits and vegetables inside into viscous liquid.

I like that the spout has a lid that locks open so you can pour easily. The blades come out so that they can be cleaned easily, along with the inside of the decanter. I saw that another buyer was cut when the blades “flew out” during cleaning. I have looked carefully and my blade assembly does not appear to be capable of flight or even mild levitation. Nonetheless I lift it out carefully, and if I am going to use the blender again I just rinse the blades; if I want the blades completely clean I use the dishwasher and not my hands.

It has been a long time since I used a blender. I stopped because they sucked. Old blenders leaked out the bottom. They were hard to clean. They had a ton of different buttons for blending speed with labels that required a thesaurus next to the cookbook. And however I parsed the gradations of perturbation between “emulsify” and “macerate”, they didn’t actually blend. What was at the bottom of the blender became angry and confused while whatever was in the top two thirds of the decanter remained beatifically serene. This blender has high, medium, and low settings. You can pulse. It is loud, which I take to be a feature and not a drawback. Even more than my espresso machine, this blender is extremely effective at ending unwanted conversations. For particularly persistent interlocutors, use the pulse setting.

Neither my kids nor I particularly like fruits and vegetables and as a result we don’t get nearly enough. And yet I can put in 10 bananas, two cartons of strawberries, two of blueberries, a bag of spinach (yes, spinach!), a cup of plain Greek yogurt, one interrupted conversation … and: ambrosia! The decanter is huge, and yet between the three of us we can and do empty it in one meal. Yay!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What is the difference between the bl456 and bl450 models?

I purchased both, 450 for my brother and 456 for me. The differences are:
– The book: 456 has more recipes
– The lid: 456 has a better lid, easier to use IMO
– Usage: this one is the most annoying/ different. In 450, when using the machine, you need to stablize the cup by spinning it, “clicking” into their locks. But 456 gets rid of that, just push your cup onto the machine, and start blending. It doesn’t have to same stability as in 450, shaking crazily when blending, which is a major disappointment.

Hope this helps.

2. so will this chop up most veggies into liquid form, not just jucing it and having lots of pulp leftover right?drink. no leftovers?

Correctthis is how they served morning fruit juices at an upscalehotel I stayed at in mexico: cut fruit into chunks (they peeled, but you don’t need to,except maybe pineapple..just wash first), throw chunks into the blender, a little ice, whip it up and pour. You can add a little yogurt, ice cream, whateverthe stuff was great !

3. can you use frozen berries?

Yes!! I make smoothies using frozen strawberries/blueberries all the time. Just make sure you have enough liquids in there!

4. I just want a great smoothie-no extraction-but needs to chop ice quickly….is this the right blender?

It chops everything very well, including ice. Most smoothies take 20-25 seconds to process.

It may be cliché, but it seems common sense is uncommon. Prior to purchasing my FIRST Nuti Ninja as a family Christmas gift last year I poured over the reviews of various products here on Amazon and there seemed to be a common theme among the negative reviews, sanitation and leaks.
After using my blender for the better part of 10 months I’ve come to a conclusion. #1 DON’T OVERFILL #2 CLEAN THE SEAL.
I’m sure all of us at some point have been guilty of over filling a conventional blender and the result is material fit for a comedy.
If you disintegrate a solid object into a billion pieces it’s going to take up more space. The blender will become a pressure vessel & hydraulic forces will find a way out. DON’T OVER FILL this or any blender for that matter. I suppose too if the base is cross threaded it won’t form a proper seal.
If you look at the reviews of ALL brands of blenders there is a common thread to all the negative comments. Are all blenders poorly designed? Not likely. It more plausible to me that a certain percentage of folks either ignore the directions or are in such a hurry they over fill the container. Of course there is the possibility a individual product is defective but that’s going to happen regardless of brand.
The Second big issue seemed to be cleanliness / sanitation.
In my opinion not only is the seal removable on the ninja but it is absolutely imperative that you do so, no amount of soap and water is going to clean around the seal, once you see how it is constructed I’m sure you’ll agree. I guess they’re fragile if you go digging it out with a buck knife but don’t do that , use the correct tool. Again this issue is not unique to the ninja but common with many blenders.
The seal on the ninja is not an O ring or flat gasket style , It’s a 8mm wide silicone 1mm thick pcompression seal and with a little care can be removed allowing for proper cleaning of the seal and its seat. AND REPLACEMENT SEALS ARE AVAILABLE if it does get damaged over time, I located scores of sellers online.
Once a week at a minimum I use a dental style pick tool to carefully lift the seal out for a thorough cleaning.
Once you pull that seal out and observe how it’s made it all makes sense.
So, don’t put too much stuff in it and take 5 minutes a week to clean the seal and you’ll be golden.
Now on to the good stuff.
For a personal blender in a pregnant category where many sell for $200.00 to $400.00 this comes in at the low end of the price range but appears to have good quality control using the same materials as higher priced designs. The walls of the blending cups are thick as are the stainless blades.
Another feature I noticed was the where the motor drive mates with the blade cap, the latter is made of a softer material that absorbs shock rather than transmitting it thru the drive assembly reducing the chance of fractures.
No it’s not quiet by any stretch of the imagination but the vast majority of the noise seems to be produced by the blending process not the motor itself.
I read a review by one poor soul who’s unit belched sparks out the motor ventilation ports, needless to say an isolated issue.
In summary; I’ve used my ninja for 10 months on average 6 days pre week. I’ve put every combination of foods in from ginger root to grapes , yogurt to yucca , cucumber to cranberries, peanuts to passion fruit and with the proper ratio of solid to liquid filled to the correct level I can honestly say I’ve never had a problem . I’ve concocted some nasty tasting mixtures I’ll never do again but the ninja still looks & performs like new.
I’m a very skeptical customer and was in a quandary about which blender to buy. Every brand was on the table, Oster Bruan Vitamix Jamba Juice Blendtec NutriBullet and believe me I have no problem returning a sub par product but this little guy has given me no reason to say anything but good things.
There’s literally millions of these out there being used by every variety of person and the odds are some will have a bad experience. Is the vast majority that love these & haven’t had an issue wrong? Or is it more likely the few that for whatever reason had a bad experience are upset and vocal? Common sense tells you the answer. Even Rolex has its critics.
One last thing, The 32oz cup is a handy addition to consider. I can easily make drinks for three in one shot & be done with it.
I received nothing in return for my review.
I am in no way associated with this product.
I am a 56-year-old retired truck driver.
I highly recommend this product..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. how can I get a replacement cup?

I would refer to my owner’s manual to see if I can get additional cups you would want it to securely fit to achieve no leaking. Good luck!

2. What keeps this from spilling after its blended and the cup is removed with it being upside down?

The unit has the jar and lid. The inside part of the lid had the blades and screws on. The other side fits into the base. You twist it in to attach and when blending is done twist the opposite side to detach. Turn it right side up and remove the lid. Works perfectly.

3. can you add ice?

Yes. This is a powerful blender and ice is blended with ease.

4. Does this make silky smooth consistency with skin-I’m tomatoes?

I don’t know about tomatoes but I have used skin on apples, cucumbers, plums and etc and every time my drinks has come out very silky and smooth. This is honestly the best blender I have every purchased. I highly recommend

Let me tell you this is one awesome machine. We’ve only had it for a short time so I cannot comment on longevity but for the time being we absolutely love it! It crushes a handful of full sized ice cubes like it’s nothing. For 1200w this thing should be much louder than it really is. It is not crazy loud and does not wake up the whole
house. It comes with a second huge cup that is perfect for making up to 3 smoothies at a time. I bought this for my 86-year-old father and the touchscreen is so simple. Buying another for myself..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is it BPA free?

The information about plastics is completely wrong. The only plastic that sometimes has BPA is polycarbonate, which is a number 7 inside the triangle. However,

A: 7 means ‘other’ – lots of other kinds ofplastic are also numbered 7.
B: there are now a lot of BPA polycarbonate plastics (which are also numbered 7).

This means that there are two ways you can know if something is BPA-free. First, if the number in the triangle is 6 or below.Second, if the number is 7 but the manufacturer guarantees that the material is BPA free (and you don’t think they’re lying).

For anyone curious, a 1 is Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which can be stiff if it’s thick enough but is more commonly thin and semi-flexible.This is the clear plastic most disposable drink bottles are made of, along with a lot of other things.Manufacturers love it because it’s appealing to the eye and cheap. There are some cancer concerns related to it, but I don’t know if they’ve been substantiated. This and polycarbonate are the only two plastics that I’m aware of having any health issues raised about them.2 is high density polyethylene (HDPE) which is rigid but either cloudy or opaque.3 is polyvinyl chloride, aka vinyl, very flexible and often semi-transparent.A lot of shampoo bottles, for instance, are made of this. 4 is low density polyethylene (LDPE) which is cloudy or opaque and more flexible than HDPE though less than vinyl.5 is polypropylene (PP) which is tough, high temperature-resistant, easily made food-safe and generally rigid. It is also cloudy or opaque.6 is polystyrene, which is what is commonly called styrofoam, although this is actually no longer correct (which is good, because the original styrofoam had a lot health concerns associated with it), but so are some other rigid light-weight plastics.Anything you think of as ‘styrofoam’ (e.g. disposable hot-liquid cups) is almost guaranteed to be polystyrene, but so are some other rigid light-weight plastics. And, as stated above, 7 means ‘other’ which includes multiple kinds of plastics/resins, including polycarbonate (with or without Bisphenyl A, aka BPA).

All of this information is widely available from reputable sources, online and otherwise. There are plenty of problems with using plastics – considering that they are petroleum-derived products and unlike glass cannot be recycled back to the same grade material they started with (they can only be ‘downcycled’) – without spreading information.

2. Would this work well for making blended margaritas? I’m nervous about frequently blending ice.

This is an old question, but I thought I’d weigh in. The Magic Bullet does an OK job with things like ice and leafy greens (especially at the price of just $40) but it is not powerful enough to get a totally smooth consistency. A Ninja or other higher powered bullet-style blender will do a better job with smoothies and ice, but they also cost more. I do find this handy for grinding herbs, seeds, spices, etc. I like that I can shake it around (something easily do with my Ninja) and the lower power sometimes does better at these dry items than higher powered blenders.

3. Does it chop nuts?

NutriBullet chop nuts and seeds finely enough for someone with diverticulitis

4. Would this work for hummus?

Meh. It can be done, but it’s a pain to make hummus in a Magic Bullet. A food processor-style grinder works better – I have a small food processor attachment for my Ninja that does a fab job with chickpeas. The Magic Bullet works better for dry ingredients like nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, as well as with salad dressings and such. And it’s a bargain price.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does this blender make ice cream?

Yes you can make ice cream with it, I had no problem making ice cream with mine, but you have to remember that you need to put a bit of liquid as well. You can watch some you tube videos about making ice cream with a blender. Thank you

2. What is the warranty on the Dash Chef Blender?

It’s has a 7 yr motor warranty and either a 1 or 2 year for everything else. I want to say it is a 2 year but I am not positive. I have used my almost daily sometimes as much as 4 times for anything from smoothies, peanut butter, and frozen fruit deserts with very little liquid. It has worked well for everything and held up well, but I have only owned it since right after Christmas. I also bought mine at SAMs for 130$ they were still on sale as of Saturday I was considering purchasing a second one for a gift. Hope this helps.

3. Is this model the same one sold on QVC & HSN? Does is that the 2.2 HP motor and 1400 watts ?

I’m not sure if this is sold on QVC & HSN as well, but all I can say is that it is a great machine, very powerful. And Yes, it has 1400 watts. To this moment, the only issue I encountered is that I can’t take out the blade from the pitcher (like you can do on other machines, the Ninja for example) I already started to see water deposits between the blade and the pitcher and that’s not a good thing. It will become moldy.

4. How does this blender do with nut butters or similar?

I have made almond butters that are amazing. I did have to add oil, just as with a Vitamix. Almonds are hard, and more difficult to process than other nuts.I tried soaking raw almonds and it did not work. just became a gooey mess which I threw out. With the roasted almonds I find I have to pulse manually and use the stick, and it takes longer than the advertised minute. But, end result is great. Cleaning is easy. warm water a drop of dish soap and use the cleaning program. Then again with just warm water.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Innocent Bystander says: “I have to do this smoothie thing for health reasons, so this blender needs to last! I checked out reviews and found this one rated highest for ice crushing and smoothies, and at a price point I could live with. The key… decide what the primary function will be. Check out pro tested reviews that sort out and rate what its good for. No wonder my last blender died! It’s lowest ranking was for ice/frozen crunching! So I don’t need it to make soup or wax my car. Frozen smoothie ingredients and soft fresh fruit and veggies is what it is
a super star at whaaa lah a match! And it has warranties…
all good… so far!

It made a huge difference in the final result too! Tastey!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does it cook soup?

No, but other blenders do. For example the Instant Ace Nova blender has the heating element in the bottom and both blends and cooks soup.

2. Can you chop vegetables with this?

I chopped up various vegetables no problem with this blender. even when filled to the brim. Not sure what the others answers experience is, but for me this is excellent at cutting veggies.

3. Could someone please check if standard or wide mason jars will screw onto the blades?

I have an old Kerr canning jar w/ mouth opening almost exactly 6.5 cm diameter (apprx. 2.5 inches)–and it screws on perfectly.Used it twice yesterday to make mini smoothies! To use it this way you have to unscrew the blender blades from the bottom of the blender, leaving the plastic twist-collar aside first–then insert the blade part into the jar, centering the round plastic base (including rubber gasket) of the blades directly over jar’s mouth. Then screw the plastic collar over the jar to secure tightly (but not insanely tightly or you won’t be able to get it off/increase likelihood of jar breaking).

When using this method be EXTREMELY CAREFUL.Old jars, compromised jars, jars that have been through this process one too many times may all break or shatter.I recommend pulsing carefully, and definitely don’t leave it unattended!

4. Is this item dual voltage? I am stationed in europe w 220v. My last one blew up in me

Don’t think so. Bottom label says 120V-60hz 3.7A Max. If it were a switching power supply, it would give a range.

Edited to add: I’ve seen a lot of people complaining that it doesn’t blend all the ingredients, gets stuck, requires stirring, etc. I’ve found that when this happens to me, it’s usually because I didn’t add enough liquid to compensate for the solid ingredients. I just pop the top and pour in a little more – water, milk, whatever – and it solves the problem right away. This isn’t the blender’s fault; it’s operator error..

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Di says: “This is the best personal blender I’ve used. I have a Vitamix home for big serving smoothies for the whole family, but I want a personal one to make smoothies for myself daily. I tried USB charged personal blender before. But it couldn’t blender ice, and the battery died in 2 month with almost daily use. Then I started to look for a more solid one. I’ve got this one for almost a week. It’s powerful to blend ice, and very convenient as well. I think I can take it to business trip as well.
