Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. In 2015 can two of these bags sill be zipped togather ?

Always with Coleman! Most other companies work as well.

2. Is the outside material canvas (durable) or a softer material?

Softer, basically a cloth-like material, not canvas.

3. Are the two bags zipped together with the zippers on the side or in the middle?

One becomes the top and the other becomes the bottom. That puts the zippers on the sides. On a single bag, the zipper runs along the side and bottom so you can unzip it, wash it, and dry it flat.

4. Can I put this in the dryer? On high heat? It didn’t come with a manual.

High heat will melt the plastic zipper anti-grab mechanism and make the zipper useless, as it did with one of ours. Use medium or low heat.

For years, my parents had a Coleman sleeping bag, brown in color, that transcended all of my childhood hopes and dreams for comfort. For years, I tried to find said sleeping bag, hoping that this thirty year product would have a cousin twice removed down the line that I could call my own. It took several weeks of searching, a few of looking at the pictures, another two of calculating finances, and at least three adding to cart and removing it to finally bite the bullet to purchase this sleeping bag.

I could have saved my past self several weeks of indecision if I had been able to access the Ancestry.com report of this sleeping bag.

It doesn’t qualify as a second cousin twice removed but that sibling no one knew about. The comfort and warmth of this sleeping bag takes me back to my childhood and the big and tall size makes me feel like I’m a teeny child curled up in flannel and fluff. I tested the bag several days just to confirm my flashbacks and in my journey, I managed to convert a friend of mine, who now swears that this sleeping bag may end up among her things if I don’t watch it. (Fortunately, she is tiny and I can take her if need be.)

The only downside I have to this sleeping bag is the way the bag is stored. The older sibling of this bag didn’t have a storage case, preferring the roll and tie up method that I have mastered after years of using it. This one has a feeble little flap that is supposed to act like a bag but apparently flunked out of bag school a long time ago. Fortunately, since I have mastered the art of rolling, it doesn’t take long to get it into the flappity doo dah that is attached to this thing. Good luck getting it to look like one cohesive piece, though.

Would definitely recommend this sleeping bag to anyone interested in staying warm in cooler climates. It makes for a fantastic cover for an air mattress as well as comforter in a pinch. I will amend my review once I’m able to take it camping. (My expectation is that it is not as water resistant as some of the other bags in the market but as long as it is warm, I should be cozy.).

Yes

2. Made in the US?

Wiggy’s sleeping bags are made in USA

3. Does anyone know if this will get too hot when used in spring and summer? Should I get a warmer rated one?

I would think it depends on your personal comfort zone. I’m from the South, wife is from the North, and when we slept inside a bedroom in 65-70 degrees, I used the sleeping bag and had to throw on a blanket over it to stay warm, while she slept with a couple of thin blankets.

4. Does the bag open fully so you can use it like a quilt?

Yesthe sleeping bag opens all the way and lays flat, like a blanket or quilt.

Here’s a tip our trekking guide gave us and it completely changed my experience. This bags work with your own body heat, so when you get into your tent, take your clothes off and snuggle in. The first night on top of Mount Roraima I got inside of it with my cold weather pijamas and two pair of socks and I felt like my feet were going to fall off. Second night, after he told us this, I slept with nothing but my underwear on and at some point I had to take off the blanket because I felt it was getting too warm. I couldn’t believe how when I had to go out it was sooo cold, while I was com warm and comfy inside.

The only cons is that it is really big and in my case (8 to 11hr walk everyday, for three days up and 2 down) it made it a little hard for me to carry it on my back. I took only the essentials but it still added 2kg of discomfort. Yet, my trekking friends kept complaining about not getting good sleep because of the cold and I still don’t regret taking it with me. My guides told me to leave it in the camp because it was too big and heavy, but for me, a pussy when it comes to weather, it was worth it..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is it good for backpacking trips or is it too heavy?

I would say it is definitely NOT too heavy. In fact, I might be a little concerned about it being too light. I think that when we checked on the “comfort zone” of this bag, it indicated 50 to 70F. If you were to try to sleep where it got less than 50, you would have to have extra “warm-making” stuff. Our little girls (elementary aged) like to get in their bags at night and read sometimes, in our home. I don’t think they’d be comfortable if the temps were less than 50 or more than 70 degrees. I hope this helps you make a decision!

2. Is the outside covering polyester or cotton? I assume the inside is flanel?

Outside is polyester and inside is like flannel.

3. did it come with a convenient, compact stow bag

It did, but I’m not too sure about the convenient. A bit of a chore to repack. I got this as an emergency bag and with economy in mind I wasn’t expecting fancy.
Definitely feel as though I got good value for the expectations. na

4. will it work good in temperatures of -10 degree celcius to -15 degree celcius?

No, definitely not.It is only rated to 30°F/-1°C (and some sites list the rating at 40°F/4°C).What that rating means is that at 30 degrees, with full pajamas on, this bag will keep you from dying of hypothermia. It will not keep you warm. For any bag’s rating you should add 10 degrees to the rating before you’ll be what most people consider “comfortable”.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Asa says: “Okay, I bought these for a weekend camping trip that was supposed to be 40 degrees fahrenheit at the lowest. During the night there was a sudden unexpected freeze and it dropped down to 25! However, we didn’t even notice because we were snug in these sleeping bags. When I woke up, there was a layer of ice on the sleeping bag, but I was still warm! These are awesome, especially for the price! The color was more of a cranberry/burgundy and they’re a little tricky to roll up, but I would definitely recommend this sleeping bag.

1. Is the inside lining soft and warm like flannel or is it cold like nylon?

Soft and warm like flannel, but they are light weight and not a heavy flannel. Kinda a micro flannel feel (if there is such a thing)

2. Can 2 be zipped together? & How small do they roll up?

Yes, they can be zipped together. Not sure about exact size when rolled. But we can still get them in the bag they came in.

3. is this waterproof ?

Not at all

4. what are the dimensions when the bag is in its carry bag I’m looking for a compact hiking bag

Honestly don’t know. I can never get it as small as when it was unopened. I would say it can fit easily in a normal jan sport back pack though.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Gabriel’s Dad says: “I bought this for my 9 year old son to use when he goes to friend’s houses for sleepovers. For that purpose this sleeping bag works perfectly. It’s a nice warm weather sleeping bag that provides enough warmth at night without causing sweating issues. Pros: 1. Quite durable. So far this sleeping bag has survived 5 sleepovers with a bunch of rowdy 9 and 10-year old boys. The outside nylon lining feels really thin, but so far it has held up very well without any scratches or tears. Anything that can survive the destructive force of my son and his friends
I bought this for my 9 year old son to use when he goes to friend’s houses for sleepovers. For that purpose this sleeping bag works perfectly. It’s a nice warm weather sleeping bag that provides enough warmth at night without causing sweating issues.

Pros:
1. Quite durable. So far this sleeping bag has survived 5 sleepovers with a bunch of rowdy 9 and 10-year old boys. The outside nylon lining feels really thin, but so far it has held up very well without any scratches or tears. Anything that can survive the destructive force of my son and his friends is impressive.
2. The zipper truly does not bind up or get caught on the fabric when you’re zipping it up. This is pure magic.
3. Built in ties and loops to help roll it up and keep it rolled up are nice, and works quite well. Even my 9-year old can manage it.

Cons:
1. The synthetic polyester liner is soft, but I can also see how it can be annoying when it catches on rough skin. I have rough hands, but it’s not that uncomfortable. I can see how this may be an issue if you have a bad case of psoriasis or really really dry skin, but it didn’t bother me all that much when I got in the bag to try it out.
2. It really is difficult to put it back in the nylon sack the bag came in, but not impossible.

Overall, for the price you pay, this is a great bargain, and has held up much better than I thought it would. The color is also a nice dusky sky blue and quite pleasing to look at..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can you upzip it and use as a large comforter?

Yes

2. Is the back side exactly the same as the front so that the sleeping bag can be either a left or right hand zip.

Yes however in the sleeping bag picture post, the bottom side doesnt show the cloth panel that is attached allowing the user to roll up bag. That is the only difference. One side has a cloth panel with drawstring attached.

3. Does this come with a bag to put it in? And once inside the bag, about how big is it?

Something was attached but I cut it off. I don’t recall if it was a bag or a flap with strings to tie when rolled. When folded in half lengthwise and rolled, it is about 16-18 inches long and 12-16 inches diameter, depending on how tightly you roll it.

4. Does the under side have planty of filling to be comfortable?

Yes. If you are sleeping on rocks and such you need a foam mattress. For my purpose it is plenty comfortable.

So here are some answers to the questions I had before I ordered two of these sleeping bags.

Why does Amazon offer a size of 1 and 4?
This is actually the number of sleeping bags. Do you want to buy 1 or a package containing of 4 of these sleeping bags.

Do they zip together?
Yes. The front of the box states: Zip Together Compatible

Are they machine washable?
Yes. The front of the box states: Machine Washable.

Can the zippers zip both ways?
Yes. There are two zippers and the main one has a red plastic “No Snag Patented Zipper” and once it is zipped a normal regular old zipper exists on the start of the zipper to allow you to vent the sleeping bag starting at the bottom.

Can you sleep in it in higher temperatures?
Yes. I actually slept in it in my house. Its summer in Phoenix, AZ and the house is cooled to 78 degrees F. The sleeping bag wasn’t very warm and was the perfect temperature to sleep inside. I had the bottom vented and part of the side open.

What other things are specified on the box?
“Roll Control”. Makes rolling easier. I will add that I have never rolled up a sleeping bag this easily.

“Easy Storage” With “Wrap ‘N’ Roll” Feature. I’m not completely impressed but the sleeping bag doesn’t “unroll” by itself.

“Adult Regular” up to 5’11” (33 in x 75 in)

Coleman Comfort Range: 30 to 50 degrees F – Cool weather sleeping.

The sleeping bag is constructed of Polyester Fiber Batting with a Net Weight of the filling of 3 lbs (1.3kg)

Filling: 100% Polyester, Lining 100% Cotton, Cover: 100% Cotton (Exclusive of decoration) [I’m guessing this is the pocket inside the bag]

If you look at the pictures, there is a Coleman Lantern logo inside the sleeping bag. This is actually a pocket that can fit a flashlight or a cell phone for storage. It has a velcro closure to the pocket. An iPhone 6S with an OtterBox Symmetry case fits in the pocket, but the velcro cannot close as the phone is too long.

I have slept in this sleeping bag while camping with outside temperatures of 45 degrees F. It works.

As it sits right now, I’m happy with my purchase and it is a very well constructed sleeping bag..

Deb H says: “We love this sleeping bag. I bought it for my daughter to take to camp. She was comfortable and loved the color. The color of the sleeping bag is a bit bluer than what shows on my computer screen, but still a stylish color for a t’ween girl. It is plenty big for me to sleep in (I’m 5’7”) I have two concerns; 1) I’m afraid the white liner won’t stay white since she takes it camping and 2) I don’t love the feel of the liner. I feel like my skin gets slightly snagged in the cloth and it doesn’t

I have two concerns; 1) I’m afraid the white liner won’t stay white since she takes it camping and 2) I don’t love the feel of the liner. I feel like my skin gets slightly snagged in the cloth and it doesn’t feel like it will hold up super well. By daughter, however, thinks the liner is soft and cozy – so I guess it’s just a matter of choice..

Jordan says: “A great sleeping bag. It kept me warm on a very cold night, but it breathes enough that I wasn’t all sweaty. The toggles that keep the bag aligned when rolling were a great help, and I was able to reroll it and put it back in the stuff sack without much trouble.
