Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is this also can be used for beginners?

Yes, it is simple. Just mix it up and pour it in the mold and wait for it to solidify.

2. I bought another brand, but it wasn’t real 32oz and only 3/4 of the weight, anyone know is this accurate?

I don’t the answer, but I know that it is certainly NOT 32 oz. it is 16 oz like the rest. Not sure why it cost more than most 16 oz, but do not be fooled by the 32oz. it is not.

3. Is this resin food safe?

Yes,BPA and VOC FREE – No respirator needed.

4. Will it work to make fishing lures?

Yes,you can use it to make fishing lures.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Michael manthe says: “Genuinely great product, I’m a resin artist who does big & small pieces, and I’m definitely impressed with the clearness, viscosity, and easiness to use of this In that it mixes well, cures right when it says it will, I like the feel of the cure. I always torch my resin 10 minutes after pouring & I did that & no bubbles or micro bubbles. The fumes weren’t noticeable, no rapid curing if you don’t mix too deep or add too much pigments etc as with any resin. All in all though a great product and everything in the pics &
video was made with this..

3. Deep Pour Epoxy Resin Kit Crystal Clear Liquid Glass 2-4 inch

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can I top coat with pro marine epoxy? I have some left over from another project and would like to use it up

Yes

2. Is this safe to pour on a table inside my house? Or does it have bad fumes?

In the measure of safety, use a P95 mask. But in my personal opinion, an open window/fan should be enough. If you mix large amounts (more than say a few cups) at a time, I would recommend a mask. I poured 3 gallons at once and the smell was a little much, but pouring 2-4 cups at a time I don’t notice it much.

3. How many square feet does a gallon cover 1/8 thick

The gallon kit will cover 12 sq ft according to the brochure. That’s 1/2 gallon of part A and 1/2 gallon of part B. That’s misleading if you are using super clear liquid glass because it is mixed 2 to 1

4. Can this be squeegeed out over a floor 1/16 Of an inch thick to create a durable topcoat

If the floor is flat and level you could do it. This product is self leveling and it does not set up fast, so if your floor is uneven some spots will be thin and others will be thicker. The other factor is temperature. This stuff likes it warm if it says apply 70 to 80 deg they mean it. The bubbles release better. That brings up another thing to consider when applying, will you be able to reach the center of the floor to release the bubbles that form? There will be bubbles. Hope this helps answer your question.

5. Crystal Clear Bar Table Top Epoxy Resin Coating for Wood Tabletop

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. how many square feet does it cover

it depends on how thick you put it. First time I used it, 1 gallon for 80 square feet. second time I used 5 oz thinner to 1/2 gallon and covered 80 square feet.
it all depends how thick you spread it.

2. Will this work over Minwax polyurethane (oil based). i see it wont react well with oil based stain so i applied poly over the stain. thoughts?

epoxy can go over them in about 24 hours. OIL BASED paints take a LONG time to fully dry. If an oil-based paint is used, you must apply 3 coats of oil-based polyurethane to seal the surface before applying a seal coat of our UltraClear epoxy. If you go directly over the oil-based paint and it is not completely dry, you run the risk of the epoxy not sticking to the surface and peeling off months later.

3. Is this FDA compliant?

Yes, here is the response from promarine supplies “Although we do not have FDA approval certificate, our epoxy does comply with FDA Compliant Coating for Direct and Indirect Food Contact. Our Epoxy is VOC-Free and user-friendly. Once the epoxy is cured, it is an inert plastic that is non-harmful or hazardous.”

I have also shared some information from our websites in the link below.

4. will sealing bare wood surface prevent bubbles forming?

The product should be applied in two stages. The first stage is referred to as the seal coat. The seal coat is a small batch of epoxy that is brushed on in a thin layer to seal any pores in the surface and prevent air bubbles from forming in the following flood coat. Our epoxy is used for both your seal coat and your flood coat.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

deiramenaid1120 says: “I used this epoxy to cover an 11sq.ft. table filled with approx. 1300 bottle caps. I thoroughly read all instructions, and mixed what I thought was the right amount of product for a seal coat. Turns out I was completely wrong, and once I starting pouring and realized I didn’t have enough, I panicked and started eyeballing multiple other batches and mixing rather vigorously and probably not for long enough. I thought for sure I ruined my project. Well, after my horrendous attempt at following the directions meticulously, turns out that my project cured as hard as a rock within the
10 hrs.
Next mistake i made: I only bought one of these kits when I needed 2 to completely cover all the bottle caps. I quickly ordered another kit and It was at my door in 2 days (clearly outside of the 10 hour re-coating window). Because at this point I am just throwing caution to wind, I mix both jugs together in their entirety (for like 20 min though) and did one enormous coat. I did not sand or prep the table in any way between the first batch and the second batch 2 days later.
Well, my project turned out perfectly smooth, crystal clear, rock hard, with very very few bubbles that no one would ever notice unless they were staring at my table with their face less and 6 inches away from it looking for specifically for flaws. I don’t anticipate my guests doing this.
I am thrilled with the results, and I don’t want all these reviews about “following the directions to a T” scare any beginner epoxiers away.

Note: I am NOT recommending you proceed with this product in the same manner I did. Definitely try to follow the directions. I just wanted to provide some insight on my experience that was apparently drastically different than some other reviewers..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is it a good adhesive for joining wood?

This is not the product for joining wood, you would want to use a regular epoxy and add some fillers.

2. Can I pour this into a mold up to 1 1/2″ thick at one time?

Yes you can, but be sure you thoroughly mix the two parts together. If you do, you will have no problem. I would add, that if you pour the mix into a mold that is narrow and tall, like the graphite shaft of a golf club (something I did) you will develop noticeable heat which accelerates the cure, you can reduce the hardener to less than 1-1.
Also, on thick pours, you will want to watch the mixture for the first hour and use a heat source to eliminate bubbles coming to the surface. Mix thoroughly but mix slowly and smoothly to avoid creating excess bubbles.

3. What do you use to thin this?

This is not designed to be thinned, it is a 1:1 mix ratio.

4. I want to end up with a 1/4 inch thick surface. I’m reading that I should pour in 2 batches? Are there any caveats for multiple pours?

I believe the product says to do the second pour around 4 hours. I waited 3 days to do my second pour with a very light sanding of 320 grit and a good cleaning/wipe down before the second pour. The sanding did not gouge the first layer or cause any imperfections. With my second pour I only got about 1/8 of an inch. I think you might have to dam up your project if you’re looking for 1/4 inch. Good luck

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Christine from Philly says: “My project turned out great, because of help from the vendor after I messed it up! This product is very temperature sensitive and when I did my first coat in a room that was ~10 degrees too cold, it didn’t mix correctly so it didn’t set (my fault for not taking the directions very seriously). After consulting with Jamestown Distributors via their online forum, I followed their instructions, salvaged the project and I LOVE the results. Don’t mix this stuff when the product is cold, in a cold room and your project should turn out perfect from the start. It was
SO easy to work with once I had everything at 75 degrees..

9. Deep Pour Epoxy Resin Kit Crystal Clear Liquid Glass – 2

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can I use it on a metal surface?

It will stick to metal surfaces, provided the surface is properly prepared, which depends on the metal.

2. Can this be used for a half inch depth pour, at 32inches long, 3-5 wide? Or is 2 inches deep the best minimum?

This product will work at 1/2″ thick pours, but it will take longer to cure, than deeper pours.

3. Can I mix all resin needed for 2 pours at one time? If so, do you refrigerate the second pour until first pour sets up?

You only want to mix what you are ready to pour. While the product does have a longer pot-life than other types of epoxy, the chemical reaction will start right away, and if the product is left sitting in a bucket, it will tend to harden much quicker than poured onto a table. So, only mix what are you ready to pour right then.

4. For using this to make pen blanks to turn on a lathe, do you need to use a vacuum chamber?

You do not need to use a vacuum chamber. The product will dry on its own. If you decide to, the vacuum chamber will speed up the drying process.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

John Orr says: “Pricey, but crystal clear results. I use it in silicone molds and my pieces are frequently mistaken for glass. It takes a while to cure so make sure you budget your time for at least 48 hours of cure time. And they’re serious about the temperature – below 72 degrees and your looking at days before you can remove it from the mold. The viscosity is thinner than other resins I’ve used which reduces bubbles and is great for filling in tiny spaces in complex pieces. Be sure to stir for a while after the fluid looks clear, as you can
still end up with streaks in your cured piece..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is this resin effected by UV light? Will it yellow over time with exposure to sun?

Yes

2. What’s the difference between this product and West System (strength and durability)?

I use them both for base coats on furniture I make.I have noticed No difference btw/ the two products as far a strength and durability.I feel like the total boat brand creates more heat during the setting process, but doesn’t seem to affect the final results in any way.I also feel like the total boat brand pumps are superior to thewest systems ones. They don’t leak and are cleaner than the west systems.

3. Is this safe to use in small basement shop w/ furnace, pilot light, etc. and semi-poor ventilation?

There is little to no odor. No volatile fumes. I use it often in a small basement with an oil furnace.

4. What tint or pigment is recommended to make this epoxy translucent red? I plan to fill a design cut out of an approximately 1″ thick table top.

The best tints I’ve found are a brand called ‘Transtint Dyes’.They have an extensive range of colors. They’re available on Amazon and many other websites.I got mine at a local Woodcraft store, where they are slightly less expensive.I’ve never tried to mix a translucent color but my guess would be that the amount you meter into the epoxy would affect the level of translucency.

Willow says: “Mixed this with brass powder to do a metal inlay for a chess table that I made for my husband. With the slow hardener, I had enough working time (about 20 minutes or so) to do one mix and fill both the board and table. Crystal clear. Sanded down, it looks just like metal! All of the brass color on the board and table in the pictures (other than the chess pieces) is the epoxy/brass mixture. And, customer service is awesome when you need some advice.

It takes long , even very thin layers , but it’s gorgeous clear.

2. may i use this resin on canvas to cover a paint canvas?, and can i also work directly on canvas mexed with resine mika colors? ?

Yes you can! The mica powder should be sealed with something prior to pouring the resin to cure. If the mica is in resin that’s already cured on the canvas there’s no need to seal first. Basically seal if what’s on the canvas can be smudged.

3. Can this be used on a mosaic tile table top that has a rim around it?

Yes. This will work on your table top. Just read the directions & follow them to the “T”. This resin works very well but the directions have to be followed closely. Good luck & have fun.

4. Can you use this to glue broken ceramic together?

Super glue or glass glue would be better

My only “problems” with craft resin are that..
A. It doesn’t have a bigger size, and
B. The lid on the jar doesn’t have a nozzle so it’s a little harder to pour. But most jars this size have that exact same issue..

Will says: “Works great…once you know how to use it properly. I used this for adding a clear coat of epoxy for tumblers. I was a total beginner when I started and learned a few things along the way that might help people like me: 1) put both bottles in the sink and fill it with warm water. Let sit for about 10 minutes. I learned the hard way that if the resin is too cold it won’t mix with the hardener properly and the result is a sticky mess. After numerous you tube videos, I found this tip and it worked great!

I learned the hard way that if the resin is too cold it won’t mix with the hardener properly and the result is a sticky mess. After numerous you tube videos, I found this tip and it worked great! Warming it up also helps get rid of most of the bubbles.
2) The 1:1 ratio is critical. I accidentally added a bit more hardener once(because it pours faster) and didn’t think it would make much of a difference. It does. The result never lost the tacky feel.
3) Mix for at least a minute or two. It feels like forever as your mixing, but I found the longer I mixed, the more consistent my results turned out as I mixed resin for fifteen cups in the span of two weeks. I ruined a couple cups by not mixing it enough. The results were sticky no matter how long it dried.
4) If you’re making tumblers, a “cuptisserie” motorized cup Turner is a MUST. The resin is very fluid and does not like to stay in place. Applying the resin as it’s turning was the only way possible..

hours; temperature control at 122 degrees Fahrenheit (°F) – 58 degrees Fahrenheit (°F), the full curing time is 1-2 hours; The premise is that it takes about an hour to put it in the oven after mixing, otherwise there will be a lot of air bubbles. Q: Is there any special way to eliminate bubbles? A: 1. The pores on the sealing material, the material with pores will have a large number of bubbles, and the elimination is incomplete; 2.

Using the fire gun, after mixing for about half an hour, the bubbles will rise to the surface and can be eliminated with a fire gun; 3. Bubble spray, a kind of bubble spray can quickly eliminate surface bubbles.

I used the resin both warmed and not warmed and both experiences were very similar. When warmed (only a few degrees above room temp) the pour was smooth and the mixing went smoothly as well. A few bubbles when mixing but they all disappear when pouring. No strong smell. Feel fine without safety mask and felt safe letting it cure in my bedroom because of lack of smell. Bubbles were very minimal and disappeared quickly. Bubbles in final cured pieces were near none (two of my more finicky molds had one bubble each. Easily fixed and no big deal.) The reason I mention this is because this brand of resin has the LEAST amount of bubbles out of all the various kinds of resin I have used. The resin and hardener are very clear before, during, and after pouring (mixed clearer when warmer). At the point my pieces were half cured I checked on them and they were still tacky so that would probably be the ideal point to add heavier items so they can sink in (I did not personally test this but plan on quite a few more various pieces, so will have more updates in the future.). At about 3/4 cured I popped my pieces out as they were a little bit bendy still. I used a razor to clean up the pour edges. Having the resin not fully cured when you shave off the edges works great and avoids doing the hard edges later. I laid all my pieces on my tile and let them fully cure. They looked great! I had matte molds and shiny silicon molds to use so some of the pieces took on the matte finish of the matte molds (I will post pictures). When they were cured I was very pleased. Very clear, no bubbles inside the piece at all, so this resin would be perfect for simple botany pendants with plants/insects/ect where no mix in pigments are used. Cured HARD. Pieces are very sturdy and can withstand some rough handling. The shiny pieces are very smooth and look perfect. Did not use gloves and had no reaction throughout the entire process. Resin that got on my hands wiped off easily with a paint rag. Resin shavings from the razor touch ups did not make me have a skin reaction. This brand boasts being food safe, I have not personally tried it for that purpose but might post an update with something food related. Will be posting continual updates on this product. Definitly recommend. Easily 5 stars. (My first resin session had mix ins of metalic mica and fine glitter. Simple mix. The bigger glitter bits sunk to the bottom. Not everything sunk to the bottom so I was pleased with that as well)..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can this be used on tumblers and is it fda approved?

Absolutely, we have even tested it for dual layer tumbler designs. The Resin is FDA Compliant for Direct and Indirect Food Contact. However, the resin is not intended for direct food contact exceeding 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Is it harmful if I let it cure in my apartment?

Not typically, we would still recommend using ventilation and maybe a fan (just don’t blow dust in your finished product) but you should be fine for artist level amounts ie not industrial applications

3. Does this come in galon size?

It does not at this point. I am sorry, we are looking into getting gallon-sized amounts but it will take some time with production and quality assurance checks.

4. Is this product available in larger quantities?

16 oz kit is available now https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZCB68KM We are working on procuring production for a 1 gallon kit but not available at this time.

This is my new favorite resin.

I’ve used resin for projects a number of times over the last few years and I have tried several different brands for various uses (resins good for casting may not be good for coating and vice versa). Every one of them had something going for them, but this one has the most.

If you look at the photos I included, what you’re seeing is my first attempt to use this resin to make a coaster, also using new colorants I had bought which were indicated as usable for plasticine. I didn’t realize that colorants used in plasticine are water-based and not suited for use with resin until it was too late and they were gathered in bubbles at the bottom of my mold. I thought I might as well keep going and see what happened, so I switched to alcohol inks and set it aside to see if it would cure. Usually any water content would prevent resin from curing, but not this stuff! It powered through and cured anyway, around the bubbles of water-based colorant. The “holes” you see on the side of the coaster facing up are where that colorant was, before I de-molded the piece and rinsed and squeezed the remainder out to help the coaster cure as fully as possible. Once dry, I could fill them with resin for a smooth, even finish and a curious look (I chose not to add color for that step). None of my other resins would completely cure around water.

On top of the impressive curing under adverse conditions, this resin has several other points in the pro column:
– It is FDA approved for both incidental and direct food contact up to 150°F, making it a good choice for sealing tumblers, coffee mugs, cutting boards, etc. That’s a higher temp than any other resin I’ve found approved for use for food contact by 10°F.
– There have been very few bubbles in anything I’ve made with this resin and they all easily rose to the top and popped when I torched over the pieces. I can now make clear pieces that are virtually free of bubbles without using a pressure chamber.
– There are no VOCs, which means I don’t need to wear a mask while using it and there’s no strong unpleasant odor. As a person with several chemical sensitivities, this means a lot to me.
– It is easy to mix and to tell when mixing is complete. Viscosity varies among resins, and this one has very little resistance. It clouds up when you first stir in the hardener, then clears up when it’s thoroughly mixed.
– It’s easy to pour neatly from the bottles, even in tiny amounts, without spilling or having big drips over the edge. This is the first two part resin I’ve used that I can say is easy to pour neatly. Need just about 0.5 ml to make your hardener and resin volumes equal? No problem!
– Clear really means clear, not translucent yellow. I haven’t had anything made with it long enough to know how well the UV resistance will hold up, but it’s off to a great start for clarity.
– It can be de-molded in just several hours, and will remain flexible for up to 3 days or so while it finishes curing, at which time it’s quite firm. This is great if you want to create something like a wave for a seascape.
– Finally, it costs HALF as much as my previous favorite high-clarity, UV-resistant, food-safe resin. I was taking a gamble on a new, low-price product without reviews and it paid off big time.

Thanks to the company which designed this resin and brought it to market! I’m very pleased and will be a regular customer as long as its features and price remain excellent..
