Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is this the same as cuisinart dfp-14bcny 14-cup food processor, brushed stainless steel (just a different color)?

Yes it is the same. I will note the picture of the black stainless makes the mixing bowl look gray as well. THE MIXING BOWL IS CLEAR, NOT GRAY. I have not yet posted my review,( I wait 3 to 4 months) but will note so far it has performed like a champ. Very durable, quiet, and heavy duty.

2. Apart from the finishes (white buttons vs black buttons), what is the difference between this model and the cuisinart dfp-14bcny?

Same model – different color. Some colors are more popular than others.

3. I want a spiralizer blade on a Cuisinart or other food processor besides the standard blades, food processing. Do you have such a thing?

Let me dig around in the kitchen junk drawer. Rummage, rummage, rummage. Nope, I don’t have anything like that. Perhaps you should ask Cuisinart rather than other customers?

4. Why is the “List Price” is for $365? When in reality, if you google it-everyone has it for the $150 “sale price”.

Probably retail price if it wasn’t on sale.

I spent about 6 hours researching a good processor. This is my first ever, and I never thought I needed one. I have used this about every other day for the past two weeks that I’ve had it. It’s the one appliance besides my coffee machines that I have on my precious kitchen counter real estate! One reason I even decided a good processor was worth looking into was to save me some wear and tear on my hands/wrists from all the chopping I do (stay at home mom here, and I do lots of cooking from scratch).

As a first time food processor owner (with a high quality blender), I am glad I purchased a) a Cuisinart b) a 14 cup one (I have a husband and a 2 and 4 year old, so our meals Aren’t huge). I’m working more to batch cook and prep ahead of time, so this guy is my partner-in-crime.

The things I most commonly have been making from this processor is hummus, sliced veggies, grated carrots (found a delicious shredded carrot salad with raisins and mayo/yogurt and pineapple) and shredded cheese. I plan on making some borscht, coleslaw, kale salad and dressing, and experimenting more with chopping herbs.

Oh how I love shredding a big block of cheddar in 20 seconds flat (no sore hand afterwards)! Follow the manual’s instructions and freeze the cheddar to make it easier in your machine. Also, mozzarella is not recommended to shred on it for those pizza-making lovers). I made some chicken soup the other night and loved the time I saved with slicing the carrots and celery. I already feel the time I’m saving and the efficiency of this machine.

Glad I sized up too, because that large block of cheese fills up the entire container! Also, coleslaw would easily do that with a half head of cabbage.

For those curious, homemade hummus is a game changer. I’m not interested in eating hummus from the store, but always can’t get enough from Greek/middle eastern restaurants. Yeah, there is a difference (side note: you also have to put it the time to shell your chickpeas; which can be made easier with a little baking soda).

For those who wonder about the aesthetics of this, it looks great on my counter BUT, the plastic isn’t dark like shown on These Amazon photos. I would say it’s just a hint darker than the clear plastic shown on the white models (I personally like the actual look better, and it’s just dark enough to probably make a beet stain stand out a bit less).

This long review is giving you my experience so far with this beast machine, and I’m glad I went for it! I was nervous about the 14 cup models since going down the rabbit hole of Amazon reviews left me focusing on the negative ones, which doesn’t always give you a clear perspective on things. Many folks misuse these or doesn’t bother reading the manual. But this investment piece is something I plan on having around until my boys are grown up, so I’m hopefully saving myself a little bit of future tendinitis this way 😉 in that respect, I am easy on the machine, hand wash it, and insert/snap on the pieces with care and love.

For all you first time food processor owners-to-be, I say go for it! Go for the 14 cup! If anything disastrous happens, I’ll have it added to this review..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. can it make pie crust

Yes you can make pie crust in this food processor, it makes beautiful pie crust.

2. can i use this to process meat?

I just bought my processor two days ago and I just processed about 1.5 lbs cooked boneless skinless chicken breast (cut in chunks before pulsing for like 7 1 second pulses) and it worked out fine for chicken salad.Did the same the same thing for about 4 cups of a left over cooked ham to make ham salad, I don’t know about uncooked meats.I did cut long sections of the ham (about as long and wide as the neck of the feeder into the processor) and using the slicer disc I filled tupperware bowl full of sliced ham for sandwiches for days, it came out perfect.I’m planning to slice a semi thawed Rib-Eye (cut as thick and wide as the opening to the processor will take) for cheesteak next.

3. will this shred cheese and carrots? Thanks

Hello,
Yes this food processor will shred cheese and carrots as it comes with a reversible shredding and slicing discs.

4. What is the height without the feed tube

I measured it at 11 1/2 inches, but the feed tube is there unless you leave the cover off. With the cover (and the feed tube) it measures just under 16 inches.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Anyone know the difference between the dlc-10s and the newer dlc-10sy model?

Yes, the 10SY does not have the riveted blade that was recalled from the 10S (and others) back in December 2016.

2. Does this really weigh 32 pounds as stated on this product page? Most of the other food processors weigh six to 10 pounds according to their product p

No, the machine does not weigh 32 pounds. 10 pounds maybe, very similar to other machines.

3. How fine does it grind the potatoes ? Is it a very fine grinded to potato pancakes ? Also may I make pasta or cake ?

Not sure about potatoes. The metal blade is for chopping and blending. If you want a consistency like hash browns, use the shredding blade. I’ve only made potato pancakes with leftover mashed potatoes. You would have to pulse carefully so they don’t get gummy. As for pasta dough, I use mine for that all the time. You asked about cake. Yes you can use it to mix cake. Just be careful not to over fill to prevent leaking. What any food processor is not as good for is anything you are incorporating air into such as whipping egg whites. Because they have tight lids, it is tricky to get the air needed. I believe there may be special instructions in the manual. Hope this info helps.

4. How does it handle small amounts of food? Do I need a smaller food processor to chop smaller amounts, or is there a small cup attachment, or what?

Mine has a compact cover making chopping easier. This will do a better job chopping an onion for example than a mini chopper, with a mini chopper you have to add small amounts and empty and chop an onion in several stages. This is also much more uniform that a mini chopper.A mini chopper is so small it compacts the items, I don’t chop with them. The only thing I use a mini chopper for is small amounts of marinates.

SaidWhatWhen says: “This is my second DLC-10, now DLC-10SY (7 cup). My last one gave me 15 years before the bowls cracked, so good value. Cost of the bowl set is almost the cost of a new one, so a no-brainer. Now I have backup blades, knife …. I compared this to Cuisinart FP-8SV which is an 8 cup unit, but really no comparison. The 8 is feels flimsy and cheap compared to the 10. The 10 has a much more powerful (and heavier) motor and comes with a much longer warranty. As important, the feed tube is much wider on the 10.

Removing the feed tube on the old 10 was a bit of a puzzle lock and inconvenient. The 10SY totally solves that, and it is a snap to take the feed tube on and off. The 8 has no lock at all, I think because the feed tube is so narrow that it is nearly impossible to accidentally get a hand or finger down the tube and into harms way.

Price difference is about $30, but you get that back in the convenience of a larger feed tube, higher build quality, and longer warranty and durability..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I’m debating on the 14 cup or the 11 cup. Is there really a big diff. I see the 11 has 3 slicers & the 14 has 2 & the 11 has the flat lid

Hi Deanna, The flat lid is everything.I love it and use it most of the time.I have not found any problems with the 11 cup.I do bake grain – free so not sure if the gluten dough would make a difference.I make one recipe and sometimes double it and it’s always fine for me.I’m not sure how big your family is and how many portions you need to make. Are you saying the 14 cup does not come with the flat top. Well that would make my decision right there.I love the flat top and would not give it up at all. This food processor will not disappoint you at all.Every day I’m happy I made the decision to buy mine.Could not be more happy. I hope this helps you make your decision. Also, I keep the flat top on it all the time so it saves height space on my counter and looks sharper, cleaner and better.I put the other top on when I need it. I also like the paddle buttons.I was not sure if I was going to like them and it turns out that I really like them.

2. Is this BPA free?

Hi !! on page 3 of the cuisinart instruction and recipe book it says towards the bottom at number 11 of what the machine includes, ” BPA free, all materials that come in contact with food or liquid are BPA free. That was also very important for me so I made sure it was.I am so happy with this food processor and it looks great on my counter. It also comes with a compact cover with cap for chopping and baking. Not all food processor’s that I saw came with a compact top. I do mostly baking so I leave this top on most of the time and it sits low on my counter. When you have the cover with the large feed tube on for slicing and dicing, which some come with only, it sits higher and seems like it takes up too much room when not using it.I hope this helps you.I couldn’t be happier with this well made product.

3. what is included

It depends on which vendor you purchase from.Since new models have been out for a couple of years, the remaining squared off models like my 11-cup are still available out there but with different configurations. For instance, mine came with an instructional DVD.It also came with a stainless steel cutter blade. The newer models I think come with a lexan cutter blade.Costco has a set that includes the blade/disc holder which I feel is important for storage, and would add another $20 if purchased separately. If buying through Amazon click on the Vendor name if it is a price you are interested in.Perhaps you could message them first.

4. Does the plastic pusher have the small hole in it like the old version of this machine? I want to make mayo with this!

Yes a small hole
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

M. B. Mccormick says: “I bought this to replace the same model I originally acquired in 1993. That one served me for many years, but the latch for the feeder-top device finally broke after 15+ years of regular use. Instead of trying to buy a replacement part, I decided to purchase another brand that was less expensive and ended up very disappointed with its performance. I finally replaced the knock-off with the Cuisinart and now I wonder why I waited so long to do so. This food processor is, in my experience, the best. It feels solid and well-made. The base is heavy and the
rubber feet keep it firmly in place on the countertop. The motor is up to the challenge of mixing doughs. The disc blades are sharp and make quick work of slicing and shredding and mixing. I like the addition of a low-profile lid, to be used when mixing with the blade (not with the slicing or shredding discs).

I purchased the disc storage container to go with it and am very happy with the addition of this to the set. Can’t recommend this food processor enough – you won’t be disappointed..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. why the Product Description says it is a carbonated beverage maker and not a food processor?

I actually didn’t notice that before. But I can say, I’ve been using this quite a bit. I love it b

2. Are these different outside of the color? I am interested in making pie crust and dough

I make pizza dough and bread dough all the time in a food processor. I wouldn’t suggest making pie dough in one because it mixes the fat too well into the flour. My pie crust is better when I cut the fat into the flour by hand. If you haven’t bought this food processor yet I would NOT buy it. It’s too expensive and is not the quality I expected from a cuisinart. It’s ok for dough but it doesn’t pulverize herbs or nuts well at all. I’m getting rid of mine and buying a cheaper Black and Decker.

3. i see it shreds, chops, does it shred beef or pork for bbq?

It could, but it my emulsify it way to much. You’d almost have to really cook the meat down to falling a part, then it would break it down way too much. But if you were careful it might work.

4. How tall is the base? The bowl?

Base is about 5” or so, bowl is like 6-7”.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Should i buy the 8 cup or the 11 cup? what is the advantage of one over the other? thanks!

Get the 11 cup. I’ve found that the 8 cup isn’t really sufficient for the amount of food I’m making. There’s 4 people in our family. Also, if you want to make smoothies get the 11 cup. 8 cup isn’t big enough and sprays smoothie juice all over the kitchen.

2. Does it dice and cut potatoes and green peppers?

No not dice but has a blade to slice potatoes in a potatoe chip style . It will chop-cut up green peppers I use the pluse button to judge how much to chop.

3. Want to make sour kraut…does this machine grate petty fine as I don’t like it in shreds?

There are 2 different options for shredder side actually. 1 side is like a med/large grate. The other side is fairly small. It is kind of nice having the 2 options

4. How powerful is the motor? Can it make nut butters?

The motor is rated at 350 watts, and we haven’t found anything that it won’t handle. However, we’ve never made any nut butters. Since that seems like a fairly conventional thing to do with this appliance, I would assume that you could return it to Amazon if it didn’t do the job.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Kay says: “I have used this product to grate cheese and to slice vegetables. I wish the slicer blade cut thicker slices. So far, it is working as expected. I bought it to replace a Cuisinart that was gifted to me 26 years ago! I did replace a few parts, but this time I found it more practical to get a new one. This says “renewed” it is supposed to be new, I thought, so Idon’t know what is up with that. The handle is a little loose, which I am concerned about, so maybe it is renewed. I did purchase the extended
warrantie, si I hope the handle is covered if it breaks! The bowl and the lid are hard for me to turn. The parts are easier to wash than the old model I had. The old bowl wasn’t smo0oth inside. This one is. That makes it easier to get food out! If this one lasts even half as long, I will be thrilled!.
