Shata says: “These are best filter to run for your dmax on stock fuel system. The aftermarket filter are tighter but you shouldnt run them long maybe one oil change. These most people push out 2-3 oil changes. You dont want to starve that cp4 pump. I run filter mags on my fuel filter there is definitely iron in diesel from station pump and manufacturing, I had black iron on filter walls after cutting with filter cutter. The outside is rough filter inside is very tight micron filter. Outside was dirty, inside was pretty much clean. Seems not much is getting past inside

I think these filters are bit expensive but you gotta pay to play in diesel world. You buy diesel and think you will have Camry upkeep you need to get yourself checked out..

TOP 500 REVIEWER says: “I learned long ago that ignoring this things is not a good thing though that still hasn’t made me want to slither under a vehicle as a contortionist to get the old one out and the new one in. this one is actually pretty easy to do on my ’01 Grand Prix but others have required special tools and three hands. Old school fuel pumps and filters were mounted on the engine and often had a glass bowl for the filter so you could see when the filter was due to be replaced. Now, you have to wait until the MPG’s

start to drop, the engine runs a little rougher or it kills your fuel pump trying to push gas through a dirty filter. I don’t put a lot of miles on my rigs so every few years I just replace it so price is always a consideration and at about 9-bucks that’s a decent price. Having replaced a lot of these over many years I’m not sure how much better one is over another but I’ve been more comfortable with the ease of replacements when the filter is from the OEM supplier. I purchased my car used and there was some issue with the correct mileage when I registered it because someone had swapped out the gauge module and that gave them a fresh set of miles that was likely much less than what was actually on the car so I replaced this and the fuel filter. I’m out in the boonies and fuel pump failures don’t often give you hint they’re about to happen so fro the few bucks it cost I at least feel better even though the new one could fail quickly. I had hard starting issues on my ’99 Expedition in cold weather but one running it was OK for the day and it turned out to be the fuel filter was clogged and was wearing out the pump… replacing the filter solved the problem but a new pump added another 4 MPG. Since I can’t tell what condition a filter is in without removing it putting the same one back on is not wise so putting it on a schedule with other things like oil, oil filter, air filter, plugs etc. takes the guesswork out of it. if you have an older vehicle and what looks to be the original filter it wouldn’t surprise me so check it out and replace it before it causes some more expensive issues..

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Mike says: “Normally I’m not an OEM parts Nazi. However, in this particular case I originally purchased a cross-reference alternative from a Car Quest dealer and after removing the original filter and physically comparing it directly against the aftermarket filter I noticed that the two filters looked nothing alike. I also noticed that the inside bottom lip of the OEM filter had an oval shape that mates to a similar oval shape inside the bottom of the filter housing (I’m not kidding). The aftermarket filter was just plain round. I couldn’t help but wonder about unfiltered fuel leaking in around the bottom of
the filter and clogging the fuel injectors (and possibly destroying my turbo). So I decided to put the old (dirty) filter back in and wait for the Amazon purchase to arrive. The new filter was an EXACT match to the original. The Car Quest parts guy swears by the cross-reference and says he has had no complaints… but I still wonder.

The box this filter came in said it fits the “2010 Dodge Ram 6.7L” (only). It does not state that it fits the 2011 or 2012 as some other reviewers have stated. I would definitely call a dealer to get the exact part number before ordering for the 2011 or 2012 RAM.

Please note you will need a 1-1/8″ socket to remove the filter (yes, a 1-1/8″ SAE socket, no metric equivalent). A big crescent wrench won’t work because there are three plastic flanges surrounding the socket head which force you to use a socket. Do not over tighten! The filter housing is marked “30 Nm” (newton meters) which converts to 22 foot pounds (meaning very lightly tightened because it’s a plastic housing with a rubber gasket, not a lug nut). I use a torque wrench.

Also note that when you crack open the valve to drain the fuel, it takes quite a while to drain. The first time I changed the filter I was impatient and pulling out the old filter quickly created a vacuum that sucked up the remaining fuel and spilled it all over the garage floor..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does this have those fuel line clips included?

None with mine. I think the original clips would work fine. As you know there are quick release clips inline and I found them hard to get to release, so I bought this tool to help. ABN Fuel Line Disconnect Scissor Tool for 5/16″ Inch and 3/8″ Inch GM, Ford, and Mazda Vehicle Fuel Lines.

2. Does this fit a 2005 ford focus zxw ? because in the owner’s manual it says fg-1081… does the fg1114 replace the fg1081 ?

Have no idea. I just know it fit my truck. Call a auto part store and ask them.

3. Why don’t these filters come with clips?

The clips are *supposed* to be reusable. I was able to reuse mine on my Crown Victoria, but you have a good chance of breaking them. Pick them up from a local Ford dealer.

4. Are the ends 5/16 or 3/8″?

5/16

JR says: “This is a well built filter mount. No complaints at all! I have a larger filter, so I’m using it without the rubber grommet/sleeve.
