Best heat tape pro For You (Updated)

There is a way to selecting the best heat tape pro budget and we trust this guide to place you on the right path in helping you find that which would be perfect for you.

1. HEATIT JHSF1 Self Regulating Pre-Assembled Heating Cable 18-feet 120V

HEATIT JHSF1 Self Regulating Pre-Assembled Heating Cable 18-feet 120V

  • Suitable for use on plastic and metal water pipes( including inlet pipe, drain pipe, sewer, palm tree frost protection etc). Industrial grade self regulating heating cable. The cable output will adjust automatically based on the ambient temperature at each point along the cable. No worry about the overheat risk. More Safe. Can be used by straight, spiral and overlap. More functional.
  • Smart plug with indication light to show you whether the cable is working or not. Protect pipes up to 2 1/2” in diameter. For a better freeze protection, at least 1/2 inch thick or thicker insulation material is recommended, especially for extremely cold weather. If the ambient temperature is lower than -20°F(-29°C), please use 1” thick insulation material. ETL approved. 50 degrees F for pipe freeze protection.3 ft 18/3 cold lead with grounded plug.
  • Roof deicing application: HEATIT JHSF1 was designed to prevent the ice dam formation not to melt the ice dams which were already formed. Please turn on the cable at the beginning of snowing. Can be used on flat roofs, metal roofs, asphalt roofs, rubber roofs, slate roofs, stone roofs, metal roofs, ceramic roofs, composite (tar and gravel) roofs and so on. Rated 10W/ft at 32°F (0°C) for roof deicing. For roof deicing application, you may need to buy clips and hangers separately.
  • Designed to maintain water temperature in the supply piping system, reducing or eliminating the delay in obtaining hot water at each fixture. You don’t need to run showers or sinks for long periods of time to draw new hot water into the unit, which is a significant waste of water. Simply wrap the self regulating heating cable around your hot water lines within the house to provide you with instant hot water. It is an energy efficient and economical alternative to common re-circulation systems.
  • Testing the cable before the installation. Uncoil the cable, plug in the heating cable. Normally you can feel the slight warm on the heating cable in few minutes.
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can this be used in a water filled sump and pump application underwater?

No, if you use heating cable on underwater application, please consider choosing JHSF1-CT.

2. Is the et-21 tstat outlet necessary with the jhsf-1 cable since it is self reg?

Not necessary, ET-21 is to control turn on and turn off the cable, and it can help you save energy. If don’t use ET-21, JHSF1 will keep working.

Pro Gaffer Gaffers Tape, 2 in x 55 yd, Black

  • 11-mil thick black matte cloth gaffer’s tape with rubber adhesive conforms well to irregular surfaces for labeling, and temporary securing and sealing applications
  • Adhesive removes cleanly from most surfaces
  • Tape resists abrasion and can be torn by hand
  • Can be used outdoors and withstands temperatures from 50 to 200 degrees F
  • Measures 2″ wide and 55 yd. long
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Which country is this tape manufactured in? Thanks

This company is headquartered in North Brunswick, New Jersey and is the largest manufacturer and innovator of premium tape products designed specifically for use in the Arts & Entertainment industry in the United States.

2. For those of you who have used this tape on glass surfaces and in the sun, how does it hold up? I need to tape a wire to the windshield of my car.

If the wire is inside the car give Pro-Gaff tape a try.I used Pro Gaff to tape a complex, temporary aluminum support for a Garmin Navigator on the left on my Wife’s dashboard.Since the aluminum was shiny, I additionally taped over the aluminum where the sun shines.Matte finish worked great. When I ripped it out after our vacation, no residue was left.If the wire is outside NO!use Gorilla masking tape. By the way, tonight I saw this very brand of tape being used to set up the music stage for Super Bowl XLIX.I have a selfie to prove it!

3. Is it waterproof?

No. Gaff tape is not waterproof. Its made of a cloth back and an adhesive layer that is water permeable.

4. Can this tape be used on a tear in fabric awning?

That would only provide a very temporary fix.I would think that using E6000 glue, or maybe contact cement to glue a fabric patch onto the tear would be much better. But ultimately, if the tear is due to sun damage or deteriorating fabric for any other reason, fixing the tear won’t do any good, because tears in other places will appear very soon.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Joe L. says: “This is the real deal gaff tape. It provides good adhesive attachment and releases cleanly when used PROPERLY! Many of the other negative reviews have knocked this product for it’s residue. Gaff tape, even a quality brand like this, will leave a residue when you mistreat it. This isn’t painters tape and it isn’t duct tape. Gaff tape is meant to be temporary, as in less than one month. It’s meant to provide good adhesion in a broad-ish range of environments for a film set/theater environment. If you expect this to act like painters tape or duct tape and hold things
permanently or be waterproof you will be disappointed.

If you work in the entertainment or events industry then you know pro-gaff. You know how expensive bit is and you know that every time you try out some other brand that promises to be “just as good” you end up kicking yourself and coming back to pro-gaff. It’s expensive because it’s the best.

Go by painters tape for paint, go by duct tape to make a wallet or fix a duct. Buy Pro-Gaff if you’re wanting to get stuff done in a work site and then take down..

4. Frost King HC3A Automatic Electric Heat Cable Kits, 3ft x 120V

Size:3 Feet Frost King automatic heat cables with self regulating thermostat keeps pipes from freezing down to as cold as 38 below zero. Available in lengths from 3′ to 30′.

Frost King HC3A Automatic Electric Heat Cable Kits, 3ft x 120V x 7 Watts/ft, 3 Feet, Black

  • 3Ft x 120V x 7W/ft
  • Keeps water flowing down to (-40) degrees F
  • For metal and plastic water pipes
  • Easy to install
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. can this be inserted into drain or downspout?

I don’t know if that’s the proper usage but I’m using mine for a water pipe to feed my chickens to keep the water from freezing so it is submerged in water and heating just fine

2. If I wrap this around or inside my Davis rain gauge to melt snow and measure winter precipitation, will it overheat too much and melt the plastic?

It is not for wrapping, it is tied to the pipe parallel. If the rain gauge is three feet long it would be okay. Wrapping it may melt or damage the plastic.

3. Want to use this on a 1.5″ pvc that drains my tankless h2o heater. pipe’s usually empty but goes out thru wall to drain. it gets below zero in winter.

The manufacturer recommends only using this on PVC that always has water in it. So if the PVC will not have water in it all the time it will not work.

4. Is this submersible for PVC chicken water line?

I would “guess” that as long as the insulation is intact, it would work. Might be too small to keep any volume of water ice free, it is not a substitute for an immersion heater
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Kindle Customer says: “Read the directions…you aren’t supposed to fold the wire back on itself and the exposed water line may not be exactly the length of the wire. Directions walk you through wrapping it in a manner that uses excess without wrapping it back on itself.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

sloMoses says: “I bought two of these in different lengths to hopefully keep outside lengths of potable water hose from freezing. One hose runs from an outside hose bib on my house into a valve which feeds an underground PEX run. The other hose connects the PEX where it comes out of the ground into a travel trailer city water inlet. The travel trailer sees winter use so I wanted to keep the water flowing. I live in Fayetteville NC so bitter bouts of cold are not typical here but there are times when the outside temperature will not get above freezing for
a few days.

I attached this product to my hoses using a specialized heating cable application tape (.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What is the lowest temperature that this will operate? Below zero?

When the ambient temperature is below 3 degree C (37.4F)。 The built in thermostat will energize the heating cable to operate.

2. Would this melt snow off a driveway?

I’m sure it probably would, but you wouldn’t want to drive over it. There are special products made to use on driveways.

3. Can i use this on a buried 2″ pvc line that’s used for sumppump discharge? also, i have a flex hose connected to the end of pvc can it work on that

I’ve had success with no issues using this on a regular heavy duty hose, but I wouldn’t use it on a flex hose.

4. Can the plug be inside(where it is warm) and the tape go through the wall outside to a cold pipe? Will it still turn on?

I don’t usually respond to these as I don’t feel that I am the expert on any given product. But as I understood the product information, there is a small round thermostat device on the cable. As long as that thermostat is outside in the cold the unit will turn on. Of course the closer you have the thermostat to the warm house, the slower it will turn on. But if you keep it a reasonable distance from the house and on the pipe that you’re trying to keep warm it should work. That is how I have mine set up. So far so good (but it’s only been down to 18°F here since I’ve installed it.)

I guess I can always update. I take this stuff seriously, because frozen pipes in time for Christmas would be a buzz kill for anybody. However, so far, so good. I am sure it’s been cold enough that I would be having problems by now. Water is running and draining as it should, and I don’t regret this purchase.

This type of product usually won’t last forever, but quality heating cable should last several years. These feel high quality. And very easy to use, with a reassuring light telling you it is taking in power. I think this is well worth considering.

UPDATE 3/13/2019: Decided why not update my experience now that we have survived another winter. Don’t worry, more are coming. The great news is I had absolutely no freeze ups, and this product worked as hoped. I would not hesitate for a minute to buy another one when needed. Just wanted to let anybody interested in this product to know that in my experience, it is worth it..

11. Proxicast Pro-Grade Extra Strong 30mil Weatherproof Self-Fusing Silicone Rubber Sealing Tape

Item Package Quantity:1 | Color:Black Adhesive vinyl electrical tape cannot create a permanent waterproof seal and removing the tape creates a sticky mess. Butyl rubber tape can be hard to work with and deforms at high temperatures or when compressed. Proxicast’s Pro-Grade Self-Bonding (non-adhesive) Silicone Tape adheres only to itself, creating a completely air, dust & water-tight seal. Silicone tape can be easily removed, leaving no sticky residue behind. Impervious to temperatures from -65F to +500F and most chemical solvents, Proxicast’s Pro-Grade Self-Bonding Silicone Tape can be used in almost any environment indoors or out.

Proxicast’s heavy-duty 30 mil silicone tape is 50% thicker than other premium silicone tapes. Extra thickness means better protection for rough, sharp and uneven surfaces without applying extra layers. Thicker tape provides more abrasion resistance and better insulation. Proxicast’s silicone tape is also 50% wider than most other brands for faster wrapping and fewer seams. Perfect for protecting CATV & RF coaxial antenna connectors and electrical plugs from damaging moisture, this premium tape is 1.5″ wide, 30 mil thick and each 15 ft roll can cover approximately 6 typical connections.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can this be for car roof ?

It depends on what you’re trying to do. This tape adheres only to itself when it is stretched and wrapped back on itself, so it works best on round things like wires and pipes. You cannot use it effectively on just one side of a surface like a roof.

2. Would this tape work on pinholes of a lay flat firehose? no further high pressure will be applied. i don’t see it working well with lay flat hoses ??

It might if there is no significant pressure on the hose. It will all depend on it sticking to the outside of the hose. Think of this stuff as vulcanized rubber. It is soft and when you knead it can be very flexible and sticky especially on itself. So wrap the area with the leak and work it in really well.

3. Can this seal my house from any radiation

No. This is just silicone rubber. It does not block any radiation other than UV.

4. Where is it made?

The silicone material is made in Germany. It is converted to rolls of tape in China.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

J Berton says: “I used this tape to repair my central air conditioner insulation that covers the 3/4 inch copper pipe leading from the house to the AC unit. The previous foam rubber insulation had cracked over the years and was brittle. I wanted a better solution. I purchased new insulation for the pipe but it was sliced on one side to get it on the pipe. I wanted it to be waterproof and UV protected, so I purchased this silicon tape after much research. It is amazing. It really is self fusing and hard to pull apart if you make a mistake. I
wrapped the entire roll around the insulation and it worked perfectly. After a few rain storms, no leaks, entirely waterproof. I bought a second roll for another project I have in mind for my wash machine drain hose which sometimes leaks when the sump pump drains. Right now I’m using duct tape, but the silicone tape will work much better. I highly recommend this tape! It is great!.

13. Heat Cable for Pipe Freeze Protection, 40 feet, with Built-in Thermostat

Size:40 Feet THIS CABLE WILL NOT WORK unless it is in a cold environment. We’ve received a couple bad reviews because people ‘tested’ the cable in their warm living room. Eye roll. Please don’t be that guy. The built-in thermostat will NOT TURN THE CABLE ON unless it is in a cold environment. Now for the good news, this kit includes 16 feet of high temperature glass cloth tape for installing your cable.

Pipe Freeze Pro is a commercial-grade, self-regulating heat cable which provides years of reliable freeze protection for pipes of all varieties, including copper, steel, PVC, ABS, PEX and more (pipe diameters up to 2”). It may also be used in drains and culverts through the winter months to promote drainage. Don’t buy from companies without a human available by phone. Heat cable is technical stuff and it’s great to have solid advice on how to install it.

We are the only heat cable seller on Amazon who is a simple phone call away. Phone: 877-387-4218. Eat that off shore competitors! Pipe Freeze Pro is jacketed with a commercial-grade fluoropolymer and comes standard with a flame-retardant thermoplastic interior jacket. Our 16 gauge heating wires are 200% thicker than the conductors found in cheap, constant wattage cables like EasyHeat and Frost King. Thicker conductors mean greater heating efficiency, more melting power and long term cable integrity.

Pipe Freeze Pro is self-regulating, meaning it ‘asks’ for more energy as it gets colder outside and less energy when it’s warmer. The entire length of our cable is temperature sensitive such that colder areas demand more power than warmer areas. Smart stuff. The stated cable length DOES NOT include an additional 24” unheated cold lead. For example, a 6 foot cable is 6 feet plus 2 feet of unheated cord.

Installation is simple. Run Pipe Freeze Pro along the pipe, secure with fiberglass cloth tape (included) every 12 inches and wrap with standard pipe insulation. Read the manual for full instructions, of course.

Heat Cable for Pipe Freeze Protection, 40 feet, with Built-in Thermostat and 16 Feet of High-Temp Installation Tape, Heavy-Duty, Self-Regulating, 120 volt

  • THIS CABLE WILL NOT TURN ON UNLESS IT IS IN A COLD ENVIRONMENT. We’ve received a couple bad reviews from people testing the cables in their living rooms. Please don’t be that guy.
  • AMERICAN SUPPORT: Knowledgeable, Minnesota-based company with expert support staff you can actually speak to! We are excited to help with your installation questions. Phone: 877-387-4218, or email us at info@radiantsolutionscompany.com
  • TAPE INCLUDED: 16 feet of high-temperature glass cloth tape is included with this cable.
  • HEAVY DUTY: Integrated thermostat turns cable on at 37 degrees, off at 50 degrees, greatly reducing energy waste. Cable is 8mm wide and includes a 24” unheated cord (add to stated cable length). Cable has commercial-grade outer jacket for long life and carries a FIVE YEAR WARRANTY, which is double the warranty of similar cables on Amazon. Will not short or burn out if cable is overlapped.
  • USES: Use on the inside or outside of all types of water carrying pipe including copper, steel, PVC, ABS, PEX, concrete and more; can be exposed directly to water and is rated for soil contact.
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. On the 80′, what kind of amp draw does it have and what breaker amp should it be on? Or should it have a dedicated breaker line?

The installation manual on the manufacturer’s website gives power specs. At 50° F, the power rating is 3 Watts/ft. so for 80′ your current draw would be 240 Watts/120 volts = 2 amps. The current draw increases as temperature decreases. From a graph of wattage/temp in the installation manual, at 32° F, 80′ would draw 3.2 amps and it looks like the current is limited at this level for all temps below 32°. A 15 amp circuit that isn’t already heavily loaded could handle this but probably best to call the manufacturer to describe your application and get their advice. Also, they recommend that this is plugged into a GFCI protected circuit.

2. How many watts is this?

Good morning. This cable operates at 3 W per foot at 50°F.

3. I ordered this to run up the the hot water pipe and then down the cold water pipe. How do I treat the area where it doesn’t touch any pipe?

I would run through an empty 1inch plastic pipe where it is not touching.

4. can you use with an extension cord? The 5 foot will not reach my outlet

Yes, as long as it is at least 12 gauge (thickness).
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

d.a. says: “I did a lot of researching of heat tracer cables and of the products from different companies that produce these, prior to buying from Radiant Solutions. One factor that influenced my decision is that I was able to call and talk to someone from the company to answer some technical questions I had prior to buying. This made a huge difference. This gave me more trust in the product. Heat tracer cable is not an easy product to quickly test and describe its efficacy — because you have to wait for super-cold outdoor conditions and see if it works after an
entire winter has gone buy — so I can’t attest to how well it will work in my particular application until next spring. But… I DID lay it all out, and plug it in leaving for an hour at 40 degree temperature (Fahrenheit) ambient conditions and I could feel the level of warmth generated by the cable. I wanted to make sure I could feel warmth, but also that it didn’t get too hot either (this can be a concern because if small stretches of the cable are exposed to air [instead of being firmly affixed to piping], a concern is over-heating and damage to the cable or insulation.) Intuitively, the temp of the cable felt right (neither to hot nor not warm enough). So I then installed it to 24 feet of PVC exposed drain pipe running underneath a cabin — in the crawl space on the way to the septic system — and the cabin is NY where winter can bring bitter cold temps for many weeks of the winter. Of course, there are mild stretches of weather too, and so that’s when you count on the self-regulating current to do its job properly. The cable also strikes me as very durably constructed and well-made. It is a bit thicker than most competitors’ cables. Radiant Solutions is a U.S. company in MN and this review is completely independent (i.e., I don’t work with them… just a one-time customer, so far)..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can i write on this tape with a Sharpie and will it hold up to being sprayed water? I want to use the tape to label wheelchairs, which we wash weekly.

I used it on my bathtub instead of caulk and it’s holding up real good. Very strong tape and I’m sure a sharpie pen would hold. I would definitely buy this tape again. Hope this helps

2. I was going to buy keel guard to protect the bottom of my kayak. would this do the job?

It is an awesome tape, but i really dont think it would protect the bottom of your kayak. You would need something that sharp rocks cant cut through

3. It’s 50 ft ? Roll in picture does not look like 50 ft.

The roll is 50′. I have used 20’and there is plenty left. I was very satisfied with this product.

4. Has anyone tried this on home exterier vinyl siding? Also, does it retain exterior paint well?

It would definitely stick to vinyl, but it’s kind of thick. Also, the back is super slick. I wouldn’t think it would hold paint very well

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Conserve as Found says: “My old FoodSaver model V3230 worked for about 6 years. It was loud, obstinate, not always reliable- wasting vacuum bags, and awkward to use and clean. Recently the side lever twisted off and it became unusable. This brand new replacement model, VS0150 is incredible, so much so that I’m writing my first review of any product bought on Amazon. Small, quiet (at least compared to the earlier model), and extremely reliable. I am very pleased with it. If you are considering a vacuum sealer look no further!
