Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I want a shoe that I can slip on and slip off. Once I get the laces of these to the proper tightness, can I just slip them on and off?

Yes. I do that with my Keens all the time. I have always worn the Targhee but just bought these for the first time.
The people who recommend the Merrell Chameleon and say these aren’t “slip ons” don’t understand what you are asking; I do.
I just bought these and wore them for the first time yesterday. When getting ready for bed, I slipped them off in the closet and this morning I was able to slip them back on fine. I push my foot as far forward as I can get it before attempting to slip the heel down. Once they’re on, I bump the toe and then the heel against the floor to even out my socks. These work fine.

2. Is the D size wider than the M width?

D is standard width. E is wider. I believe M is the same as D, or Medium.

3. Are these truly waterproof?

These shoes were never intended to be waterproof. They are ventilated so that your feet can breath. They are however not damaged by walking through creeks. Your feet will get wet. These shoes will put up with everything you can hike through and not fail on you.

4. How wide are these boots? My husband wears a D which I think is medium.

These are a D width but I’ve found them to be the widest D boots that Keen makes. I’ve tried 10+ Keen shoes and boots and these have the widest toe box. If you buy them from Amazon make sure to check the Manufacture date. I’ve bough some new ones that were 3 years old and the glue holding the tread started coming apart in 4 months. Thankfully Keen replaced them for free. (I’ve owned 4 pair of these over the years and have loved these boots)

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

jimj says: “I loved these shoes at first well ventilated, good support then few months later two things started happening 1. Frequently when double tied normally the loop of the one show would hook around the other show causing me to trip and fall. That could mean you life on a hike. I recommend doubling tying then keep tying till the loop is too small to reach the other shoe. At 8 months while walking one shoe lace hooked on the other shoe and down I whent. The plastic speed lace hook broke in half. 2. The sole started separating from the shoe
in places at about 3 months. There is a 2 year warranty on these Thailand made shoes that excludes “lace retention devices” I did file a claim yesterday. Will update my review when Keen responds.
Update Keen credited my a voutcher to buy new shoes. I am a loyal keen user as long as the new shoes hold up..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I just bought these shoes. it is about the 5th pair – always a size 10. These feel too small! Are they true keens?

I bought an 11 women’s and they were too short. My toe hit the end. I wear a consistent size 11 except in Nike. They run small and I get an 11.5. I had to return these and purchas a men’s 9.5 because apparently keen doesn’t make larger than an 11? That made me sad because I now have the ugly men’s brown color instead of the lime green I wanted.
I did have a store clerk tell me that keen sizes aren’t consistent across all shoe styles. I can attest to that, because I have an 11 bern baby bern style keen boot that fits like a glove.

2. does this have a wide toe box

I think the toe box is fine. I have 2 pairs: an original and a replacement pair ordered a few years after the first. Both are roomy in the toe box for a B-width woman’s foot and true to size.

3. Does this shoe regular ankle height like a pair of running shoes? Or higher than regular sneakers?

This shoe is regular ankle height like a pair of running shoes.

4. Is the brindle/Alaskan blue a brown shoe?

I don’t know. I always order the charcoal/Sterling blue. They are dark gray. in the photo, the brindle does look brown.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Allison Y. says: “Holy cow i am SOOOO pleased with these Keen Voyageur hiking shoes. Ive been a Merrell fan for years. I work as a groundskeeper so i wear them for work and for fun both but have had to return 2 pairs ive recently purchased on Amazon due to them running too small. They seem to rub my toes and after any amount of time on my feet i was in serious pain. So i opted to try Keen for change. The girls at work all wear Keen and now i know why. OMG the extra toe space on the more rounded
shape of these shoes in the toe is absolutely dreamy. I wear 8.5-9 and i purchased these in 9 and they fit perfecto! They feel so much more comfy then my Merrells feel and are cute too. They are very well made & feel very sturdy with great tread too. As of today i am totally a Keen convert thanks to these shoes! I highly highly recommend them. Is it possible for somebody to be in love with a shoe?? Yes! I say yes because i am living proof of someone in loveeee with my new Keen hiking shoes! 👍😁❤️👌.

9. KEEN Men’s Targhee Vent Hiking Shoe

Men’s Hikinh Shoes

KEEN Men’s Targhee Vent Hiking Shoe

  • Nubuck
  • Imported
  • Rubber sole
  • Shaft measures approximately low-top from arch
  • Water resistant, oiled nubuck leather upper
  • Mesh panels for breathability
  • Speed hooks, for easy lace adjustment
  • Show more
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Are they cool enough to wear in hot weather?

The Targhee Vent was made for warm weather use. The vent panels on the side allow for great air flow!

2. What is tpu ?

TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) is a class of polyurethane that we use to help reinforce areas on a shoe that may get rubbed/scuffed more or, in the case of the Targhee Vent, as a backing material on the heel that will help to lock your heel in place when the the heel capture system is activated without added unneeded weight.

3. The size chart shows 4 different widths, but i don’t see see any width to order. are these all “m” or can i select a width?

I think the size chart is generic. Generally KEENs seem to run pretty true on length and the mid to back portion is M, but it has a roomier toebox and not a ton of arch. I have wide flat feet and these are amazing. Bought my first pair of their shoes like 10 years ago and they are my go to. I have 5 different at the moment, these, the mid-hiker version, the slides they make, casual shoes, and work boots.

4. Is the leather part black or brown?

The leather is brown.

I’ve just ordered a second pair of these after purchasing my first pair and wearing them daily for the past two weeks. I used to wear trail running shoes but now that I’m in my 60’s and not running trails anymore I just needed something lightweight with good grip for everyday wear around our rural property. These meet that need for me. They fit the same as my Targhee 2 Mid hiking boots which have been my favorite for the past 7 years or so. They have a similarly wide toe box so the regular width size 10s fit my size 9 1/2 EE feet just right. The difference between them is that these are lighter, of course, since they’re low quarters, and breathe much better. It’s too soon to judge their durability. I’ll update this rating if I have any problems with the tread delaminating as some reviewers have noted. But for now, I really like and recommend them..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I usually wear 11 wide, which size should i order?

I would try the size 11. I usually wear size 12.5, but since that’s an oddball size I have to wear size 12’s and hope they’re long enough. I have narrow feet, but wear large woolSocks most of the time and still have plenty of room in the footbed.Keens will stretch and conform to your foot as you wear them, even if they’re a little snug at first.

2. Can these be used during times especially for snow days?

I used these to climb Quandary with a fresh dump of 24″ of snow in a very wet spring. Yes, I got snow in my shoe as I sunk into extremely deep spots but it handled admirably and dried extremely quick. Very impressed that after such a long/wet/snowy hike that they dried and my feet showed no symptoms of being water logged or uncomfy. You can get those snow covers for boots and they fit these shoes just fine. Mine were the low cuts

3. These list as “wide” but all the sizes state “d(m)” (i.e. medium), just like the regular targhee ii’s on amazon. i wear 13/2e. should i order?

I also wear an E, but Keen’s always work well for me. The are wide in the tie which works. I would try a pair. It’s really easy to return shoes to Amazon if they don’t fit.

4. Some of the colors pictured are in the Mid size shoe. Are they really different styles, or are they simply showing available colors?

The styles and fit are the same, only difference is color. Hope this helps

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Craig in WV says: “I wear a 11.5 and heard these run small, so I went up to a size 12. The size 12 fits perfectly and glad I went up half size. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis 3 months ago, and read reviews about these shoes, and they have not disappointed me. I was unable to hike due to my PF pain and the combination of these shoes and superfeet orthotics, I can now hike with greatly reduced pain. These shoes have increased the quality of my daily living. I still have pain but not nearly as bad, I can definitely tell the
difference between these shoes and when i don’t wear them.
Cons: After 2 months of wearing them, I had a piece of tread start to come loose, which is unacceptable. However, Keen has amazing customer service and promptly shipped me a replacement pair. I would have no issues ordering these again or any other keen footwear..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What is the difference between the presidio and the presido II?

The biggest difference for me is that the Presidio II has a leather insole, similar to their original presidio. The original changed a few years ago to a foam insole, and is now the standard presidio, and while cheaper to make, I’m sure, is far less comfortable.

2. does the tongue soften up?

The tongue has never been a issue with mine I walked all over Italy and my feet never hurt. I highly recommend them.

3. What color is turbulence/wrought iron?

It is going to be a grey-blue color.

4. Yes, the laces need to be replaced. Where can one find them?

If you need new laces go into a shoe store that sells Keene shoes and they will have laces that you need
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

JJ says: “These shoes are EXTREMELY comfortable. I purchased these for work where I’m standing throughout my shift on concrete. I went through a couple of cheaper shoes before these and finally decided to just throw down the money because my body and my heels were aching so bad. These shoes basically have eliminated that for me. I have no heel pain, knee pain, back, and feet/ankle pain while wearing these. I was running around in a hurry the other day and realized I wasn’t thinking about how bad my knees and heels were killing me like I would with my other shoes.
I’ve purchased lots of sandals and similar styles that are boots from Keen, but I don’t think I’ve ever had shoes this comfortable… period.

Size- For reference: I wear size 11, have high arches, and have wide feet. The shoes fit fine. I’d say they are perfect for size 11 (Keens usually run half a size larger in my experience). Shoe laces and the shoe itself are large enough to accommodate my arches without squeezing, marks, or pain. Arch support is there…For high arches? Not as much as some would want. Width – Keen has always been good with width and wide toe boxes and this is no exception. Although, I would say they are slightly smaller in width than some of my other boots. I can still move my toes around a bit, though.

Looks – they look nice from the side lol. BUT, if you’re used to these type of wide toe box style they shouldn’t be a problem. They look pretty good and are honestly slimmer than most wide toe box shoes so you won’t even notice…They actually make my feet look smaller. I recommend looking at the Zappos video if you want to see how look while wearing them.

I definitely would buy these again and would recommend these to everyone I know..
