1. Klipsch CDT-3650-C II In-Ceiling Speaker – White (Each)

With integrated whole-house audio systems becoming more popular than ever, Klipsch designed the CDT-3650-C II to meet the market’s demand for a high-performance in-ceiling loudspeaker that easily challenges the inherent limitations of fixed locations.

Klipsch CDT-3650-C II In-Ceiling Speaker – White (Each)

  • 1” Aluminum Tweeter
  • 6.5″” Pivoting IMG Woofer
  • Horn-loaded technology
  • Controlled Dispersion Technology (CDT)

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What backing do you recommend if installed under attic ? will some simple mdf board placed on top do the job?

I built mine during construction and yes, MDF works well. I built a box that went from rafter to rafter out of inexpensive oak plywood and it has worked very well.
Like I’ve told others, don’t merely place it under insulation as I don’t believe it provides an adequate speaker box. Essentially your attic becomes the box in that scenario.

2. Is this a Dolby Atmos speaker ?

It was not designed as a Dolby Atmos speaker, but it would work fine as a height speaker in a Dolby Atmos system, especially when used with other Klipsch Reference Premier speakers.

3. Whats the difference between this speaker and the klipsch cdt-5650-c ii ?

Realistically, probably very little. The 5650 is marketed as higher-end, obviously.Whether you would be able to tell the difference would depend a lot on your installation and other components. It looks like the woofer material is the high-end Klipsch cerametallic and the driver goes a little lower and might sound a little warmer, but bass is not the ceiling installation’s purpose.

4. How important is the aiming tweeter in an atmos setup? i ordered the klipsch r-2650-c speakers but the tweeters don’t pivot.

Dolby recommends a speaker with ability to aim and if you feel you need that have a look at a CDT-3650-C II. It would depend on where they are mounted in relation to the listening or seating area. If they are just above or above and not too far from the listening area you may be ok with them aiming straight down.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Karl says: “Incredibly full / rich sound for an in-wall speaker. I replaced two older speakers in the soffit of a house we bought with these. Huge improvement, and the fact that the tweeters can be aimed really improved the spacial positioning in the room. Connecting to an AV receiver, we use these for the rear surround speakers for video sources, as well as for music sources. As surround speakers, they’re a bit too high quality as rear surround doesn’t really receive much in the way of high quality audio signals. (Exception: Stranger Things, which has the most awesome 5.1 sound mixing I’ve
ever heard and often has rich music coming from the rear surrounds.).

  • Sure-Grip Mounting Dogs. Controlled Dispersion Technology (CDT) directs both the high and low frequencies towards the listening area
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I purchased 4 of these for my living room and would like to pair it with a center channel speaker. i’m looking at the rp-450c is that a good choice?

This model would likely work better with the Klipsch R-52C center channel or Jamo S 83 CEN center channel.

2. Does the manufacturere approve installation in bathrooms?

We don’t typically recommend wet areas for this model as it was not designed to be water resistant. While the woofer and tweeter material are likely ok in that situation, the mounting hardware and the painted grill are carbon steel and may rust over time.

3. whats the cutout

The cut out size is 9.8 inches or 24.9cm.

4. Is this a B stock?

No sir. This is brand new A stock if I understand your question correctly

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does anybody care about Ohms and Watt? Where are the specs for these speakers?

Their sensitivity of 96dB with 2.83V at 1 meter is what most distinguishes these Kliosch RP-600M from the majority of loudspeakers.2.83V into 8 Ohms = 1 Watt, so the factory sensitivity spec is the same as saying 96 dB into 1W at 1 meter. The thing to understand is that each 3dB equates to a doubling of sound pressure level. So a speaker with 96dB sensitivity will deliver twice the volume of a speaker with 93dB sensitivity or four times the volume of a speaker with 90dB sensitivity – for any given amount of Watts coming from your amplifier, at ang given listening distance. The Definitive Technology SM45 bookshelf speakers (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005XXMMG4) have a sensitivity of 90dB, thus requiring four times as much power to achieve the same SPL (sound pressure level) at any given disrance, compared to the 96dB Klipsch RP-600M.Generally speaking, inefficient (low sensitivity) loudspeakers matched with high powered (yet still low distortion) amplifiers sound better than efficient speakers with proportionately lower powered amps, but it’s easier and less expensive to design a low-distortion amp having less power, than it is to design a high powered amp that still has a low THD+N.Therefore, in my opinion, the reason these Kliosch RP-600M sound so good to so many people is most peopke are using inexpensive, relatively low-powered receivers or integrated amps that nevertheless have *enough* power to tightly control the power-hungry bass frequencies, especially, but also tightening up the mids, resolving more detail, if the DAC is decent, which improves soundstage and imaging.

In short, these speakers are so efficient, they make cheap amps sound good, but having borrowed a friend’s pair for awhile, I prefer my DefTech SM45 when powered with a boutique Class D amp, not sold by Amazon. My friend drives his Klipsch RP-600M with the low-powered Reisong A10 tube amp, which I must admit, sounds very musical, taking the edge off the treble a bit, for enjoyable fatigue-free listening. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L4GL63N/)

2. I have a Sansui G-6000, 65 watts per channel. I would work well with these speakers?

I don’t want to get into an argument on this forum (tastes differ!) but it depends on what you’re planning to listen to. If you’re listening to music in stereo, your Sansui will be sweeter than virtually anything you can buy today for less than $1K (probably more than that). Vintage stereo receivers from that era (Sansui, Marantz, Pioneer, Harman Kardon, Luxman, etc.) were well built and serious about audio quality. The 65 watts they specify are ‘old school’ watts – a conservative estimate based on both channels driven at 8 ohm 50 – 20,000 hz with minimal distortion. Most modern receivers (particularly AVR receivers) grossly overstate their power capabilities and will distort far earlier. That having been said these speakers are very efficient so your Sansui (and a modern AVR receiver) will have way more power than you need and should drive them with ease. If you purchase a new AVR receiver I’d be interested to hear your opinion on which sounds the better – the new one or your Sansui. Assuming the Sansui’s components are not in need of a refresh I know which one I’d pick! (It also has an excellent phono section). If you’re doing surround sound and home theater then ignore everything above.

3. Can these be used as desktop speakers? I have a very large L-shaped desk (almost 4 feet deep at the L).

Yes you can, but why? These speakers need a little room to breath. They sound their best 1 1/2-2 feet from the wall. Why would anyone want to tame these beasts? They will kick like a mule of put in the right listening position as well as just great sound reproduction. They sound as good or better than most tower speakers I’ve heard. You wouldn’t buy a Ferrari and only take it out in residential neighborhoods at 35-40 miles an hour. Let them stretch their legs so to speak.

4. What’s the difference between the “ebony” and “piano black” colors? Hard to tell from the pics… Front looks glossier, but what about the top/sides??

Ebony has a wood grain. Piano black is a smooth lacquer finish (no visible wood grain, like a black piano).
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

DavidGeeTop Contributor: Blues Music says: “I have a deep love for my Elac debut B6’s but I’ve been wanting a bit different sound and maybe an upgrade in sound quality. Without making the elacs feel bad, these tick the boxes nicely. A little more dynamic, more treble, wide sound stage. The horn isn’t shouty, the mids aren’t held back, the bass is neither overpowering nor anemic. Fantastic with rock, blues, jazz or classical. Live acoustic recordings sound present in the room. Great with good digital but better with a decent vinyl set up. Real efficient. The emotiva a300 is unnecessary really but these will take it
and make a lot of the current.
Update; I’ve been listening to these a while now. Mainly vinyl with a smattering of digital and movies/TV. They’ve settled in and gotten comfortable. Truly a great value in budget HiFi. More alive than my beloved elacs (still a great speaker) and without any of the usual offensive qualities that sometimes plague horn speakers. These klipsch don’t disappoint if you have the dough, get the elacs if you don’t..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can these be used as rear speakers with courus 2’s in the front or will they get overwhelmed? I am using a Denon avr x 4100w. Is 125w too much power

i think it depends on your receiver. your receiver can calibrate with front and rear speaker.

2. Are these front firing or rear firing speakers?

Front firing. There is no rear port on these speakers. In my case, they are placed in corners and there are no sound issues (that I can hear) related to their front firing design.

3. Is the bass good enough on the rb 61s to use for 2 channel stereo with no subwoifer?

I am using these speakers for two channel stereo and they are outstanding, as such. But the bottom end cuts off at 45 Hz. The RB61 II’s are a big, large size bookself speaker, which I feel are really between a bookself and floor standing speaker and this gives an excellentvoice. A humans hearing is 20 to 20,000 Hz, so a suboofer with todays speakers, including the RB61 II,improves and fills in the lower end of the sound spectrum, but you may be satisfied with what they deliver alone, because they are an excellent large speaker.

4. Rubber or foam surround on the 6.5?

No, the only rubber is for the bottom of speakers as feet to keep it from scratching. The cover is magnetic. Great rear or small to medium room speakers.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Some Dude says: “Since 1991, have owned several brands of speakers: Definitive Technology, Infinity, NHT, Monitor Audio, and now Klipsch. It nearly killed me to let the Def Techs go, but these Klipsch RB-61ii Reference Series speakers go a long way in making up for it. As background, am listening to ALAC files ripped from CD, run through an AudioQuest Dragonfly Red DAC, and then into a modest SET/Class A tube amp that is feeding the RBs. The amp is a 2.0 system, so no subwoofer is involved. With the cables included, and taxes excluded, all of these audio elements sum up to $900.

The amp is a 2.0 system, so no subwoofer is involved. With the cables included, and taxes excluded, all of these audio elements sum up to $900. Frankly, I love this modest system just as much as my old $8000 system!

Am endlessly amazed at how lively, airy, silky smooth, crystal clear, and invigorating the RBs sound. Whether playing jazz, opera, techno, trance, rock, country, R&B, new age, classical, or any other type of music (obviously, I appreciate a diverse range of music) through these speakers, am forever thrilled with how lush and real the musical instruments and voices sound! For better or for worse, this awesome little system also makes it easy to hear the restricted dynamic range of poor recordings while enabling excellent recordings to sound so amazing that it will have you simmering in delight!

Midrange and treble are in perfect proportion to one another, with not even a hint of brightness. Am also a bass head, and was originally planning on introducing a sub into this setup, but am so satisfied with the deep and rich (but not boomy) bass that the RB fluidly creates that a sub would add little value.

Understood that the way a speaker sounds is dependent on the audio elements feeding it, and your system will differ from mine, but I’m EXTREMELY pleased with the RB-61ii. Without spending thousands more, am not sure how you could own a more satisfying speaker. The RB-61ii is a true winner!.

  • Bass-reflex via rear-firing tractrix port
  • Premium scratch-resistant finish
  • Strong, flexible removable magnetic grille
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. How much watts can these speakers handle?

Its Klipsch so its super sensitive. That means you are gonna hear something decently no matter how much (err little) power you give it.
And it’s always better to have an amp that’s too powerful, that way the amp doesnt struggle to power the speaker amd the speaker has plenty of power when it wants. Most people think it’s ok to amp some 12 inch subs rated for 2000 watts with a 500 watt amp. The speakers will never speak and the amp is gonna die trying to push it.

2. Do these require a subwoofer?

They don’t “require” one but I added the Klipsch 100sw and wow! Much better sound

3. Where can I purchase the stands pictured in the home theater image?

The stands in the mentioned photo are the following, but it appears this has been discontinued.
Bell’O SP224 Speaker Stands, 24-Inch, Black

4. Whats the difference between the rp600 and this?

I haven’t heard them side by side, but I would assume bass response is better in the rp600. The rp500 is great in the tiny room (12×12) I’m using them, but that might not be the case in a larger area.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Do the “renewed” klipsch speakers come with the manufacturer warranty? i see the amazon 90 day guarantee, is that the full warranty? thx

You get 90 days to return to amazon if you find sth wrong with. After that you have to go though the manufacturer to get it fixed

2. Is the price for a pair or each?

These are always sold as a pair unless private seller is selling just one.

3. I hear slight distortion ,but I don’t know if they need to be broken in or what ?

They do not need to be broken in. If you hear distortion, there is something wrong with your speakers, wiring or receiver.

4. Do you need a receiver for these?

You need an amp or receiver yes klispch speakers take very little wattage to be powered
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Anna Katrina Concepcion says: “I was looking to upgrade my front speakers to the klipsch premiere line and could not decided on what to buy. We live in an apartment with hardwood floors and walls are thin so I had to keep that in mind. All the reddit post’s said if you can afford the 600’s to go with them so I bought them and set them up. Holy hell these things are loud and the bass is overpowering, I would recommend them for a bigger space such as a house if your not worried about neighbors, I then ordered the 500ms to see how
they compare, I did a side by side comparison and will be uploading the video to my YouTube channel called Tech Minimalist. The 500m’s were basically the same as the 600’s with less bass and what in my opinion is stronger mids which I wanted. I want to fill out the low end with a subwoofer later on, with the 600’s playing at low volume I would still worry I would piss off the neighbors and could not hear or enjoy movies or music, with the 500’s the bass is tight and mids are clear and they put a smile on my face. Perfect for an apartment with neighbors. If your looking for a center channel I have had the 450c, the rc-25, and the 500c. The 450c is an absolute beast but was again to much bass for our apartment, coming from a center! The 500c pairs PERFECT with the 500m’s, and the rc 25 Is a great low end budget center if you can’t afford anything else. Hope this helps if you can’t decide on the 600 or 500s!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Would these be good for near field studio monitors or not neutral enough?

As far as studio monitors, you are correct, they are not completely neutral. They are very efficent speakers however and far exceed the power ratings Klipsch specifies. Their ideal situation is really for home theather rear or side channel surround sound as effects channels. They also make a very powerful, high-fi bookshelf companion for a mini system.I am currently using them in a 7.2 Atoms setup and they knock it out of the park. If you are truely looking for 1-1 studio monitors, Yahmaha is they way to go but have your checkbook ready. 😉

2. What’s the battery for?

I believe that’s an error in the description. These are passive, wired speakers. I have a pairthey’re excellent speakers for the price.

3. Are they “power speakers?” As in, could they be connected to a record player without a reciever?

The R-14M is a passive speaker that requires a receiver or amp to power it.

4. Is this offer for single or pair speakers?

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I just bought a marantz 5014 that has wireless. Will these work with that receiver or do I have to buy “wisa” system for them to work wirelessly?

You will need an Axiim Link. The RW-51M can be used with the Axiim Link and app as long as you have one of the following WiSA ready or enabled products.

LG TV OLED or NanoCell 2019 or newer
Xbox One
Windows 10
Mac OSX

2. Works with alexa?

No

3. I am hoping they would still have inputs on the back for optical and stereo cables with remote control volume for attaching to my cd/dvd player?

The RW-51M was designed for use with the WiSA system only so you couldn’t directly connect the CD/DVD player. If the CD/DVD player is attached to the source device (LG OLED or Nanocell TV TV or Computer) that is connected to the Axiim Link you should be able to get audio.

4. How do these speakers power on?

The Reference Wireless speakers can be used with the Axiim Link and app as long as you have one of the following WiSA ready or enabled products. Please check the TV model with the manufacturer to ensure WiSA ready or enabled if using a TV as not all models are as follows. They power on with the wall cord connection, LED solid = connected to link, LED flashing = not connected to link, and LED off = WiSA link or HUB off.

LG TV OLED or NanoCell 2019 or newer
Xbox One
Windows 10
Mac OSX

I am able to stream all of my music , watch all of my digital movies, and stream live television with the sound coming through my Klipsch Reference Wireless speakers in my current 5.1 surround sound.

The speakers sound amazing and the sound is very clear.
When watching tv or movies I have not found any latency issues. Once or twice sound was off while streaming movies or tv but only by a half a second. I found that if I quickly pause and then unpause the sound resyncs with the screen – it could also be that my internet is slow. When watching on a blu ray or 4K disc I have not noticed any latency at all. Just the pure clear sound from every corner of my living room.
I can’t wait to purchase 2 more RW-51M speakers so I have 7.1 surround sound !!.
