Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Hi – I just purchased this and the specs on the box say that the weight limit is 80 lbs and not 100 lbs. which is correct?

I just spoke with Schwinn and they confirmed that this product has a weight limit of ONLY 80 lbs. They said they have tried contacting websites/sellers to correct this but it is up to the discretion of the site to correct it.She further stated that each seat is only rated for 40 lbs.So you can’t have a 20 lb child sitting with a 60 lb child. For further information, please call Schwinn.

2. Does anyone use the stroller like a jogging stroller or is it just a basic stroller?

I would not jog with it. It has a little wheel on the front that swivels. I use it as a basic stroller or on the back of the bike.

3. What’s the minimum age and weight

It states in the description that it holds two riders at 40 lbs each, and 20 lbs of cargo in rear, so a total of 100 lbs capacity. I’m unsure of age.

4. does the bike trailer come with the coupler attachment and a flag

Yes. Everything that’s needed is in the box, except for children, i.think.you have to provide your own

*Only negatives I have to say about this product are 1. that it smells terrible when it arrives-just be sure to give it time to air out before putting your little or pup in it. 2. The flag is came with arrive broken in the box-not a big deal as they are cheap to purchase.

Well worth the money we spent. We did months of research and felt that this trailer was the best for us..

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

R. Swanson says: “A neighborhood friend of mine, Debo, had asked to borrow my bike but ended up taking a really long time to return it. After my father found out, he became concerned and drove me to retrieve my bike, even though I was not conserned. My friend initially didn’t know which bike I was referring to. I reminded him that it was the beach cruiser I let him use couple weeks ago and had made several attempts to retrieve. Apparently my friend was unaware that I had wanted my bike returned. I let my buddy know that, although I was not concerned,
my father and I shared ownership of the bike but it was kept in my home. My buddy seemed to understand my predicament but the encounter abruptly ended violently..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. is this bike okay for someone 5’1”? somewhere I read 700c wheels means 29 in, i can ride 26″ bike comfortably, but not 28″. Thanks.

If you are 5’1″, this may be too large of a bike for you but each user has a different preference/comfort level.Schwinn Discover Women’s Hybrid Bike (700C Wheels) model S5397 has an 18″ frame according to the manufacturer.700c wheels are different than a 29″ wheel. For the casual bike riders, most individuals use the size (diameter) of the wheels: 20″, 24″, 26″etc to make the selection of the bike they wish to purchase. Bikes measured this way have frames designed relative to the tire size, so the larger the tire, the larger the frame. Some bike manufacturers may use a simple overall bike measurement such as x-small, small, medium, large, x-large; the bike size is usually on a sticker somewhere on the frame on other brands. ( note:Only the custom bikes from Schwinn are sized xs, small, med, large or xl though and this is not a ‘custom bike’) The manufacturer may label the bikes Boy’s, Men’s, Girl’s, Women/Ladies however, they are not only meant for younger or older individuals. The rider will need to go by their height/inseam size. Keep in mind that for the 700c series road and hybrid bikes, the rim is larger in diameter so it will bring this frame higher up. These type of bikes(700c wheeled and hybrid) may be better suited for an individual 5′ 7″ and taller. Someone of a small stature may have a difficult time riding the bike comfortably.Riding a bicycle that is not correctly sized to the rider may result in the rider’s feet not being able to touch the ground and balance the bicycle, properly reach the handlebar for steering or braking, and loss of control when pedaling. This sizing below is just a general guideline for some Schwinn bikes. It is always best to be professionally measured to find the best fit/size if unsure.Bike Wheel Size Your Approx. 2. I am a senior wanting to ride for fitness, trips to the grocery store, around town carrying light camera gear for nature shots is the bike 4 me?

I am 70 and do exactly that.I bungie cord a plastic basket on the back and carry milk etc 4 miles one way from the grocery store. The 21 speeds are great because I ride into the wind and ride back in much higher gear. It came mostly assembled and needed no adjustment.Keep the tires at 60 PSI and it flies and will outrun a younger person with balloon tires.I have had it for 1 1/2 years and ride it everywhere. Do change the seat to a cloud 9 one for comfort. Get it you won’t regret it.

3. im a man only 5 2 in. will this bike be to tall to ride?

Though I don’t own this bike, in my opinion, this will not be a good fit fora 5′ 2″ man (I am of that height). You will need a small frame (15″ or lower)bike. Some700C bikes come in that small frame but would require some research. Probably you can ride this bike, but for safety reasons better to look for a small frame bike. The critical aspectis the top tube height. You should be able to straddle the bike without your crotch hitting the top tube. For a ladies bike, itshouldn’t be a problem as the top tube is shaped differently.

4. Can you sit straight up like a cruiser? How are the handle bars swept back?

No, you cannot sit straight up like on a cruiser bike. The handle bars can be adjusted, but they will not allow you to be positioned without bending over a bit. It can get tiring at a point but not so bad that you will have back pain. I just let go of one side of the handle bars and sit upright to stretch my back. I also changed the seat which makes the bend and ride bearable. You are sitting up and bending over slightly at the same time. It’s a good smooth riding bike. No problem shifting gears or braking.I really enjoy riding it. Hope this hepls everyone.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. hi I am 6-2 would I be able to ride this bike comfortably

I am 6′ tall and am comfortable riding this bike. Considering that your knees should be slightly bent at the bottom of your pedal stroke, I still have sufficient seat height and handle bar adjustment to set the bike up for a taller rider. Make sure you slide the seat forward or backward so that your knee is centered over the pedal axle at the top of the pedal stroke as well. Tip the seat up or down to minimize seat pressure on your most tender parts. Tipping the seat downward in front just a bit will also tip your pelvis forward for a more comfortable ride. Balance this off with the handle bar height to reduce pressure on your hands and wrists. If the bar is too low, you will tip forward and put too much pressure on your hands and wrists

2. How much does the bike weigh with fenders and rear rack? What is the frame material? Steel?

The bike is made of aluminum. Not steel as some people say here. Only steel frame part is front fork. Even seat post is aluminum pipe. Handle bar is aluminum as well.

3. I am only 5 foot tall. Could I put my feet on the pavement when stopped?

I believe so. The seat is adjustable and the bar between the seat and handle bars loops down like a traditional woman’s or girls bike allowing you to stand when stopped.

4. Does the bike fold small enough to travel on an airline as checked baggage? (Transported inside a case or box.)

I just ordered one and will try to check it in for a flight to Europe. As I have time for 2 weeks to find a perfect size box that will protect the folded bike and make sure I come to the US with only carry on luggage so this will be my only bag to check-in. In case the dimensions cannot be checked in I can still ship it via USPS or courier. So we will see what I can come up with. I will be in Florida for 2 week where I would love to use it before taking it to Europe where its main use will be to load it on to the train as the regular bikes need a train ticket and the folded ones if packed in the bag are is free :)Does anybody know the exact measure of the shipping box it comes in? I would love to do some research before coming to the US for a sturdy box which could fit the checked bag dimensions hopefully. Thanks.

Ok. It’s 33 pounds but for under $220 dollars you get fenders, carrier, 7 speeds and storage bag. Some $500 plus bikes claim 21 pounds add gears, fenders, carrier and you have 27 pounds or so and add a bag to $800-$2800. 6 pounds- it not a race bike, buy the wife and family one or take the wife or girlfriend on vacation or buy stock in amazon.
In the 1960’s I owned a Schwinn two speed hub a solid bike and dependable.
This 20” foldable feel solid and has a double lock on the frame fold. I use it in a hilly island to commute 1 or so miles each way to work and short 8 mile hilly rides to the beach.
I added-a front basket and rear bag and a $9 dollar LED light kit. I use a 6’ master bike lock to secure both wheels and frame to the bike rack. If you dress for work you need fenders. If your neighbor back washes his BBQ grill into the road without fenders you wear it to work. Unbeatable value, many standard features, easy to ride and easy to add options you need.
I looked at foldable bikes from $109 to $6,700 dollars and could not beat the value. Yes, the $6,700 weighed only 14 pounds,16” wheels and nothing else. Try riding it on a rough road, rain and no lights, holding your groceries in one hand and wearing BBQ grease.
Hope this was helpful Ken.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I mam 5′ 6″ tall. Does this bike work for me?

I am 5′ 9″ and this bike was almost too tall for me. It could be that my legs are just shorter though. The reason why it was tall for was when I would stand and straddle the bike, when sitting it’s not an issue since the seat can be moved up or down.

2. I am 5′ 6” and inseam of 30 or 31 inches. Will this bike fit me?

Yes

3. What is the frame size? 56cm?

22″

4. Is this bike a 16″/small?

I don’t think so. If it’s the same one I bought it is taller than the old 26 inch
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Kindle Customer says: “Its been a long time since I have ridden a bike! This one was perfect. The seat is definitely comfortable and the bike handles nicely on the road and also beach trails. It feels very solid but not heavy at all. I am 5’2” so I was a little afraid it would be too tall but with the seat on the lowest setting its just right. This bike was also fairly easy to put together. My husband and I pieced it together in less than 30 minutes with very little cursing 😉 Make sure you have all your tools at hand
first! I am very happy with this purchase!.

Let me start by saying that this the ninth bicycle in my current stable and the least expensive by far; I have owned dozens of bikes over the years. Two of my current bikes cost over $3k. I have been a bike geek my entire life and worked as a professional bike mechanic in younger years. I feel as though I have a good perspective from which to judge bicycle quality. I was attracted to this bike’s apparent value and traditional styling, and I was not disappointed.
The bike is a steel frame, seven speed derailleur bicycle with an upright riding position. It has no-name components, except the Shimano derailleur and freewheel. Cost-saving parts include an Ashtabula (one piece cast steel) crank and chainring, a steel seatpost and seat clamp, and steel handlebars. The generic quill stem, rims, hubs, linear-pull brakes, and brake levers are aluminum alloy. The Shimano derailleur appears to be stamped steel, though I haven’t confirmed for sure. The included rack is also chromed steel. The sturdy fenders appear to be brushed aluminum with steel brackets. Even with these heavy steel components, the bike does not feel particularly heavy. The steel frame is cleanly welded, with standard diameter tubing on all except a slightly oversized downtube. It has a nice looking paint job and even has some subtle pinstriping and lettering on the top of the top tube. The front wheel has a quick release, while the rear hub is bolt-on.
Although they call this a hybrid bicycle, to me it seems to be a classic English touring bike, right down to the coil spring seat and swept-back handlebars. The seven speed gearing covers a moderate range, adequate for flat to moderately hilly terrain. Don’t expect mountain bike gearing. The freewheel is 14-28 teeth, not a super-wide range but adequate for casual cycling on paved roads or firmly packed trails. I didn’t count the chainring teeth. The only nod to hybrid elements is a slightly sloping top tube which belies the frame’s more modern origins. Otherwise the layout and ride is very much like English touring bikes of the 1960’s and 1970’s (think black Raleigh three speed, but with some alloy updates).
The bike was easily assembled, but there were a few adjustments needed that might befuddle or elude someone without experience. The bottom bracket bearings were way too tight, the headset was slightly loose, the front wheel need some minor truing, and the linear-pull brakes needed some typical adjustments – centering, adjusting brake pad alignment, cable tension. In contrast, the gearing and hubs on my unit needed no adjustments out of the box. If you do not have experience assembling bicycles, I recommend paying a professional to assemble the bike for it to reach its full potential. The brakes feel mushy compared to modern high quality hydraulic disc brakes, but once properly adjusted they had no difficulty locking up the rear wheel or quickly stopping the bike. In this price range I think the brakes are above average. The grip-shift, seven-speed gearing was crisp and quiet.
Once assembled, the bike has a solid, smooth, quiet ride, if somewhat “vintage” in its feel. The riding position is very upright with just some very slight forward lean. There is not a lot of space between the seat and the backswept handlebars, which is fine if you are not expecting a racing position. The bike seems to encourage taking one’s time and looking around to enjoy the ride. It feels efficient, and secure though not what I would call “nimble.” I think this would make a great bike for a college campus, paved trails, and urban commuting for short to moderate distances. That said, I have seen people ride all kinds of bikes on all kinds of surfaces and terrain.
I am 6′ 0″ tall and weigh 195 pounds. The bike was very comfortable for me, and I have the bike in about the middle of its height adjustment range. I estimate the bike would be suitable for people around 5’9″ to 6′ 2″ with adjustments to the stem and seat height. Stored with reasonable protection from the weather, and basic regular maintenance (adjustment, air in the tires, regular lubing the chain and pivot points), this bike should last many, many years..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I‘m 5’3”, if i ride the 26” wheel bike can my feet touch the ground when i sit on this bike? Thank you for helping.

***General Information from the manufacturer regarding sizes of most bikes from them*** For the casual bike riders, most individuals use the size (diameter) of the wheels: 20″, 24″, 26″etc to make the selection of the bike they wish to purchase. Here is some other info we have obtained from the manufacturer awhile back ; The manufacturer may label the bikes Boy’s, Men’s, Girl’s, Women/Ladies however, they are not only meant for younger or older individuals. The rider will need to go by their height/inseam size. For example: An individual that is 64″ (5’4″) may need a 24″ wheeled bike. It is really personal preference what someone may be comfortable with. Some might not care if their feet dangle and cant touch the ground when sitting on the seat, but others may not like it. Riding a bicycle that is not correctly sized to the rider may result in the rider’s feet not being able to touch the ground and balance the bicycle, properly reach the handlebar for steering or braking, and loss of control when pedaling. Most of the adult Schwinn bikes were tested up to 250 lbs. This sizing below is just a general guideline for some Schwinn bikes. It is always best to be professionally measured to find the best fit/size if unsure.Bike Wheel Size Your Approx. 2. How does this bike do on small hills with the gearing? It would be rode in a subdivision however there are small hills

Should do fine. Gear shift is effortless with a small twist of the wrist on the handlebar mounted changer, chain slides to new sprocket and you keep peddling. I have experienced no problems.

3. In the picture, the color looks liek a true turquoise, is that the actual color?

Yes the color was turquoise, but I do not recommend purchasing this bike.
We bought it for our daughter for Christmas and had to return it. The fenders came banged up and the front tire was bent.
On a positive note, the return was easy.

4. Hi! Is it too difficult to assemble?

Easy to assemble. Don’t waste your time. Its a piece of junk.

15. Schwinn GTX Comfort Adult Hybrid Bike, Dual Sport Bicycle, Aluminum 16-20-Inch

Choosing the right bike can be tough. Road bikes are great for speed, but they can’t handle even the smallest patch of gravel. Cruiser bikes are fun and casual, but they aren’t designed for long and strenuous rides. Mountain bikes can handle gnarly trails but aren’t fast enough for a commute. Sounds like you need a hybrid, the perfect combination of road bike speed, cruiser comfort and mountain bike versatility.

The 700c Schwinn GTX has all of that and more, a true multi-sport hybrid that can handle all of your biking needs. Ride it around the neighborhood with the kids or commute to work with it in the mornings – The GTX is up for anything. It features 21-speed shifters and a rear derailleur for easy, precise gear changes, a suspension fork to smooth out the ride, and strong and light alloy rims for added stability.

The front and rear mechanical disc brakes provide extra stopping power and the multi-use tires are perfect for on-road riding or off-road adventures. On top of that, like all Schwinn bikes, the GTX comes with a limited lifetime warranty for as long as you own the bike. So what are you waiting for? Enjoy the ride on a Schwinn!

Schwinn GTX Comfort Adult Hybrid Bike, Dual Sport Bicycle, Aluminum 16-20-Inch Frame, Multiple Colors

  • Multi-use tires provide plenty of grip on or off road
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I’m 5.8″ tall. Is this bike ok for me?

Do your legs not fit right on the pedal? I have a 29″ inseam (which is short, I know.) I had a trex road bike for racing and is the same size as this bike. I fit that
bike like a glove so is it the legs causing problems ? be more specific

2. 5.3 inches tall what size bike

Not this bike. You need a small frame (15-16 inches) and smaller wheels.

3. What is the weight of the bike? Not the shipping weight though.

The bike itself is 32 pounds.

4. What height person is this bike for? it says 16″small frame size in description, but someone else mentioned it is 28″ so I am confused.

You’re right, bike jargon can be a bit confusing at first. The hybrid tire is 700c (metric) which converts roughly to 28″ in diameter. 16″ is the frame size (the measurement from the seat post to the bottom bracket). Another helpful measurement is the standover height (30″). You can view a photo image of this standover height by clicking on the last photo on left side of the bike. Hope this helps.

If you are handy and you feel confident in your basic tool skills (along with an ability and patience to follow assembly instructions…not just look at the pictures) then this project is very doable for you. Take your time assembling the bike…your safety depends on it. This bike was available at a local Big-Box store for slightly more money, but after seeing the lack of care and quality of the bikes thrown together by the store associates, I decided to do it myself. Total assembly time was approximately 45 minutes.

The bike was delivered in a box that was somewhat beat-up in transit. However, the bike itself was so well packed that there were no damage issues. Styrofoam packing and wrap, zip ties, plastic hub and rim protectors and bubble wrap kept everything well protected and unscratched.

The front fork is delivered in a reversed position. Pay close attention to instructional/descriptive stickers on the fork, cranks and pedals. Spin the fork around and tighten the two hex screws once it is properly aligned.

The handlebars are fairly straight-forward. If the cables appear to be tangled or crossed, try a different orientation of the bar. It is useful to know that the Right side of the handlebar controls rear breaks and rear derailleur (Right = Rear) and the left side of the handlebar controls front break and front derailleur (Left = Front).

I’ve seen comments regarding flat tires and broken chains. Fill the tires slowly, check the bead to insure the inner-tube is not pinched against the rim before you inflate to the proper psi listed on the side of the tire. Chains should last for several hundred miles with proper maintenance and care. Check for any snags or issues before your first ride. Make sure the chain is properly oiled (the factory installed chain may have a coating to protect against rust and not necessarily lubricated). Also, do some research on cross chaining…it may add years to your chain’s life.

The pedals need to be matched to the correct crank. Begin to thread by hand (Right pedal = clockwise and Left pedal = counter clockwise). Complete tightening with 15mm wrench. A mismatched pedal means stripped threads and pedals falling off.

No tuning of this bike was needed. Gears and breaks worked as they should.

I found it very helpful to watch the a Schwinn assembly video in conjunction with the instructions in the Schwinn owners manual.

Comfort: I gave the Schwinn GTX 2 four stars because of the limited ability to move the seat fore and aft. The position of the seat will not allow me to get the correct fit (for knees over the crank) so I will have to find another seat. I am upgrading from a mountain bike, so, in comparison, the GTX is an improvement in comfort.

Light weight: Again, I’m giving the GTX 2, five stars because it is lighter than a mountain bike. I’m not a pro competition rider so the weight of the bike (+or- 10 lbs) wasn’t that important to me.

Overall, the Schwinn GTX 2 is a nice bike for the price. Hope this helps..

I added a kickstand that clamps on and had a tuneup recently to eliminate an obvious front wheel wobble. I am very happy with the bike and love the feel it has including the handle bars and the shifters.

I pair the bike with the Strava app and my Apple Watch to track my workouts..

Size:

The wheels are 700c or 26 inches. They are street wheels – which means the wheels are thinner than mountain bike wheels.

Feel:

I really like the way the bike moves. I’ve never had a really expensive bike, so I can’t compare to the high-end brands. But this one moves and brakes well.

Assembly:

The bike comes with an owner’s manual with instructions on how to put it together. I had a little bit of trouble, but nothing I couldn’t handle. The basic assembly is to put these on (in this order): (1) handle bar, (2) front wheel + front fender, (3) bike seat, (4) pedals, (5) bell. The handle bar was the hardest to put on because I got the front brake line mixed up. But it works well now.

The box was slightly beat-up, but the parts looked fine. A few small scratches, but riding it will get scratches on it anyway.

Recommendation: Look at the picture on Amazon when you are assembling for guidance.

Last thoughts:

-The seat and wheels are easy release. This means that they can be easy targets for thieves. Just an FYI.
-The seat has springs on the bottom which are nice when riding in not so flat roads.
-The bike has 7 speeds – the adjuster is on the right handle.
-The fenders are metal (not plastic like some of Schwinn’s fenders), but they aren’t a heavy metal. I can easily bend them to the shape I want. This does not impact the fenders’ utility.
– I usually mount my bikes by throwing my leg over the back, but the rack makes this difficult to do. So I am going to try to mount in front of the seat now.
-The picture on Amazon is accurate for color and style. It’s a very lovely light blue color..
