What Real Customers Say About This Product?

RJ42 says: “Really nice stereo. Never installed one before but did the entire job in less than 30 minutes in my 2002 tacoma with Metra 70-1761 harness, didn’t need any other parts. Bluetooth hasn’t disconnected yet, always automatically connects within 10 seconds of starting my truck. Touchscreen works as well as a modern phone display is bright and clear, lots of options, extremely fast software with no lag, choose any color you want for the buttons. Had a tough time choosing a stereo but really happy I went with this one.

Style:Receiver Pioneer DEH-80PRS CD Receiver with 3-Way Active Crossover Network, Auto EQ, and Auto Time Alignment

Pioneer DEH-80PRS CD Receiver with 3-Way Active Crossover Network, Auto EQ, and Auto Time Alignment

  • Audiophile grade internal components for the ultimate in sound quality
  • 28-bit binary floating-point DSP and 3-way digital network
  • App Mode
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What happens with the internal amp when network mode is selected? Can I power 4 speakers with the internal amp and still have the pre-outs as 3-way?

internal amp can be turned on or off regardless if you are in standard or network mode.
you can power 4 speakers using hi level line in full active plus sub via rca, i do not know if the 4 rcas from the 2 way front are still useable. i do not think so.

2. Does this unit comes with a built-in bluetooth? the pic of the head unit says it has but I don’t find it in the specifications.

Hi Ferdinand, Yes it has built in bluetooth. The bluetooth works very well. I’ve paired it to an iPhone, Droid X, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. At first I was just using it for Pandora listening which sounds surprisingly good. I’m a big user of Plantronics Voyager Pro HD’s – I keep two on hand so I’m always driving with one in my ear. One weekend I headed out without them and the phone rang through the DEH-80PRS, I pressed answer and had a long conversation with a client using the microphone which is fixed between the door and windshield. The caller said it was very clear so since then I often use it instead of the Voyager Pro HD.

3. Does this include the auto eq microphone? The description says it is required but other websites say it is included with purchase of this headunit.

Yes it includes the auto eq microphone.

4. Does it work with the iPhone 5s?

Yes it does but you may need to upgrade the firmware if it hasn’t already been done so at the factory.
I provided a link below to the Pioneer site with the info needed on the firmware upgrade.

It has some quirks — all storage must be formatted as FAT32 (NOT exFAT). If you want lossless, you have to go WAV, not FLAC. The display does not auto dim (could be the user on that one, I have not had time to really go through controls yet). It has what all single DIN stereos have – a clunky interface that usually is better to use the remote to control.
Every time you change the source, it will rebuild the list — dumb, but true — so I strongly recommend SSD for main music store. I have a 250GB disk, and it takes about 5 seconds to catalog before it is ready to use. The SD card states a maximum of 32GB, but I am using a microSD + adapter that is 64GB (formatted as FAT32) and it is happy with that.
I am using an external amp, standard setup, not network. I may go network eventually, but I had good front + back Infinity speakers (and a RF subwoofer) and didn’t want to throw more cash at this time.
I used to be a Sony stereo guy, but I had bad luck with their MEX-XB100BT stereo – twice – and researched for a replacement. The sound of this stereo makes Sony look like a pretender. I didn’t realize it before, but the Sony had a bass-heavy, loud sound that did not offer clear sound. If all you want is loud music and you don’t care about the quality (like hearing a saxophone mingled with the keyboards) and you don’t mind the risk, go Sony. If you want to hear your music sound better than you’ve ever heard it sound before, go with this stereo.
UPDATE:
I found a quiet spot on the way to work and performed the auto time calibration / eq setup.
I have Infinity Kappas 62ix up front and they can sound harsh, but after the calibration, the front mellowed – not in a hushed, muted way, but it did tone down the harshness to a bright tone. The clarity in the music is still there, but everything sounds better and the stereo sound is great.
I confess I was late coming into work because I was sitting in my car in the parking lot listening to music!
UPDATE:
I have used a 128GB micro SD with an SD adapter in the SD slot, no problem
The beep turning off the ignition can be turned off, but the beeps for volume changes cannot.
The display does have a dimmer. To change the “off beep” and dimmer, press and hold down SRC to power unit off, press and hold the big knob until the setup menu appears, use side “spinners” to move through menu options, press knob to change values. Press SRC when done..

5. Yamaha CD-S300BL Natural Sound CD Player

Yamaha CD-S300BL Natural Sound CD Player

  • MP3, WMA, iPod, CD R/RW disc playback compatibility
  • High performance DAC for high conversion precision with low noise
  • Laser pickup floating mechanism; Output level: 2 plus/ minus 0.3 V (1 kHz, 0 dB)
  • Includes Remote Control; CD R/RW disc playback compatibility
  • USB port on front panel for iPod and other devices
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Do I need to buy a separate amplifier to use this equipment to play cd’s?

Yes, you do. A good choice is the Yamaha integrated amp that costs about $300. The connecting wires that come with it aren’t very good, so get some Monster cables or something even better. Or you can get a headphone amplifier. There are many. One small but very good one is the Ifi Nano that sells for about the same price, It isn’t portable but it’s powerful and very clear..but if you can’t afford that, there are several cheap portable headphone amps. I hope this helps! Let me know what you buy when you decide. Phil

2. Does the front USB port have an electric pass through to charge an ipod while playing?

The CD-S1000 doesn’t have a USB port.

3. can it handle sacd discs?

This is confusing because these reviews are for a few different model disc players, one does and the rest don’t. It’s the S1000 that plays SACDs. “The CD-S1000 is capable of playing Super Audio CDs it also plays CDs and CD-RW discs.”

4. does this play gapless on live songs and does the cd player make a loud humming noise when playing

No and No! If it has a loud humming sound check your connections. Is it hooked up with a SPIF(Digital) or with the analog RCAs?It will not play gapless songs. Checkout all the reviews there is one that’s all about the player not playing gapless with classical CDs. You may be able to play a gapless recording if its a wav file recorded that way.Sincerely, Steven Level

Corn Fed says: “Long time owner of the very good sounding Onkyo C-7030. Decided to give the pricier Yamaha a listen. I was VERY surprised. Right out of the box (in my system) the Yamaha exceeded the Onkyo’s detail, soundstage and air. The Yamaha’s sound is only improving with regular play. Music seems far more “natural” sounding to my ears than through the Onkyo. Tough choice between Onkyo’s “value” and Yamaha’s “natural sound.” Sound prevailed for me!

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does it work with mac os x catalina (latest version)?

Yes it does work with the latest version of Catalina.
Be aware that to play Blu-ray discs, you will need to purchase a Blu-ray Disc software in order to use on a Mac. Blu-ray Player Pro works great, but it will set you back 39.99. Their free version has a watermark, which does become annoying.

2. whats the difference between this model and the pioneer xd05b

greetins
xd05b is No Longer Available, old model.
atte.

3. Can i copy a blu-ray from a blu-ray player using the hdmi output or usb on source player?

No HDMI is encrypted to prevent copying. However there is software available to make a copy from a blu ray or 4K disc to your hard drive and then burn another disk if you so desire using this drive.

4. I’ve bought an external blu-ray drive before and been screwed. so i have to ask, will this actually play blu-ray discs i put in? like movies i own?

You will need additional software in order to play Blu-ray Discs. For windows they provide a free viewer, which I cannot comment on, since I own a Mac. For a Mac, I recommend Blu-ray Player Pro, which has a free version, but it has a watermark that does get annoying after awhile. The paid version is $35, and it works great.Hope that helps.

TK says: “After software installation product works great out of the box. The included Cyberlink Suite is a little old being version 10 with 15 being current, but no issues. Some player software is now required since Microsoft has removed built-in OS support. One concern I did realize but a bit too late for me was I wanted the UHD playback version and mistakenly ordered just the blu-ray (BDR-XD07) version. My bad and not the sellers issue but I point it out for other to be aware if that’s what is needed.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is this player backword compatible with, and will it play, 1080 (non-4K) blu ray discs?

It will but beware, as those (plus DVDs) are ALL it will play. Turns out that “4K Ready” actually means that the drive is equipped with a ruinously restricted copy protection system that will only allow it to play 4K UHD discs if used with a computer that has an equivalently copy protected graphics chipset which at present is solely supported by Intel on-motherboard graphics. Meaning that if you have an Nvidia or AMD or any other brand of discrete graphics card, there is no way to get UHD to play. On the other hand, most pre-“4K Ready” blu ray drives actually ARE capable of playing UHD with appropriate aftermarket software modifications/support

2. Can you install older games from this player?

It reads all discs, so I asume it should.

3. How can this be setup to play UHD discs – mine will not ?

as I understand it you need the right software. There are a lot of disks that this player wont play that it should. I think it’s the disks more than the information on them. The disks are thinner than the player can handle. I am not happy with this player.

4. Does this external bd drive work with one single cable or do you have to have additonal dc power or use two usb ports?

Everything you need to run the external bd drive, comes in the box.I powered mine through a USB-A type connection from my laptop computer. It even had a USB-A to USB-C type female to male dongle. This allowed me to use my thunderbolt 3 protocol with the USB-C shape port of my laptop with this product as well. Hope this message makes sense to you.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Keithbm says: “The case is a nice extra. I bought the Pioneer Blu-ray player/writer to burn Blue-ray discs of videos I have shot. I have only made one Blue-ray disk but it did a good job making an hour recording of video I shot in 4K (it was about 21 G so I had to buy a 50 G recordable disk). I found out that all computers won’t play a Blue-ray disk. It works on my laptop but not my desktop computer. I did not use the software that came with the player. I use Cyberlink PowerDVD20 to play Blue-rayrs and Cyberlink Power2Go

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What is the difference between bdp-s1500 and sony s1500rf which is what i ordered?

RF plays 3D movies. One thing the player will eventually tell you is to update the player. When the update screen comes up ignore it or it will wipe out your ability to watch other region’s DVDs. I had to learn the hard way and had to buy another one.

2. Is it necessary to use the command function every time you change from one region to another?

The player will remember the last setting you set it on. If you’d like to play a blu-ray disc from a different region then you’ll have to change it that region by press of a single button on the remote control. DVDs from any region will be detected automatically.

3. Will this dvd be compatible with an ultra hd 4k tv? we ask because previous dvds we tried worked but the picture was of extremely poor quality

I used it to watch an English (UK) dvd on a Vizio 4k tv and the picture quality was fine.

4. I cannot play dvds from europe on this player. there is nothing in the instructions or on the menu that tells me how to change the region?

I also have no problem playing Region 2 DVDs and switching between Region 1 and Region 2—I just insert the disc (Blu-ray or otherwise) and it comes up to the main menu. You can try clicking the BLUE button on the remote for Region 2 and see if that works. Also, make sure the Quick Start menu is set to OFF in the setup. You can also try their troubleshooting suggestions–press HOME button twice to reload disc. (Update: I’m having issues playing my latest UK Blu-Ray DVD.)

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

stephen henderson says: “After I got it set up, I put in the region-B movie I wanted to see, and I got the same”can’t play this” message I got on my other player! I read the manual which said nothing about regions and I was disappointed. Then, when I was gathering everything to put back into the box, I saw an extra piece of paper in the box which was the instructions for using the multi-region option! After I read the instructions, they were very clear and the player worked perfectly and I was able to watch the movie. So, the player works as
advertised, but only if you follow the directions on the extra piece of paper!.

No, it does not. I am not sure if future firmware update alone will enable its compatibility with 4k blu rays. Maybe the hardware is not sufficient.

2. I just installed this and it will not play a Blue Ray? I am running windows 7. In the auto play for Blue Ray it is not showing any players to open it?

Hi Bryan, not much to go on there, so I am guessing that the software to play blue ray is not on your pc. Mine wasn’t either and was not able to play till I got one. If not, try using Power DVD. This works great. http://www.cyberlink.com/store/index_en_US.html

3. If I just buy the driver, what software do i need to buy to play blu ray and 3D movies

Yes you need software to play blu rays i use either Nero or CyberLink

4. will this fit in a 5.25 bay?

It is standard, unless you have a compact case it should fit fine.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. does it records

Yes you can record to a USB thumb drive. However, keep in mind that the S.T.N.R. will drop from 100 DB to 80 DB which a large amount! Recording with this player using the USB port is for compressed music files only!So MP3s that are compressed will still sound even more compressed. I bought this for the Burr-Brown DACand a Onkyo 7030 for the Wolfson DAC!Using the add on features may be useful to some but it’s really a waste IMO seeing how you lose so much Dynamic Range. Your knocking it down to vinyl standards with a good phono stage like the Carver C-1 preamp has built into it.Using this CD player with even a top of the line receiver will be nothing like using it with separate components. Using a good quality preamp and amp will allow you toget the best possible sound out of a stand alone CD player. I would also state that the Onkyo 7030 is a step up in sound quality over this CD player. I only bought the TEAC for it’s Burr-Brown DAC and the fact that it will act as a back up CD player on my C-1’s AUX 2 input! It’s not a bad player, however, a + or – 2 DB frequency response is rather bad. The Onkyo is + or – .25 DB in comparison. Although I will admit that most people can’t hear the difference. The Onkyo 7030 was my first Onkyo purchase and at a 11.7LB weight it’s the best CD player on the market for under $400 easily! This Teac is the second best sub $400 player you can buy! People that claim they can actually hear the difference between CD players are usually kidding themselves and unless they are using separate components with a very good preamp and amp you simply can’t hear the difference! They can claim all day long that they can, the truth is it’s a ego thing! If you actually perform A/B testing between several different players you can see for yourself how true this actually is!I have friends that are very good guitarists and they have a good sense of sound in general. None of them can hear the difference as long as the output volume is the same. I always just suggest that you do the A/B testing yourself with a couple of friends and then you will understand what I have known for many years! People claim all sorts odd things. Such as hearing the difference between two similar turntables, hearing the difference between 14 gauge copper speaker wire and 10 gauge copper speaker wire. This is a joke as if you actually do A/B testing on your own you will see how full of cra* these people really are!!

2. does it work with older stereo equipment such as amps, and speakers form ’80s – ’90s

yes, our 1980s Bose Speakers and older 90s amp work fine!

3. will the 650 recognize my external harddrive itunes library? will i see genres/artist/album/song or what?

I use it with an iPhone 7 and no song information whatsoever appears on the display; only the CD player mode shows.

4. What are the dimensions?

Product Dimensions: 11.2 x 3.4 x 17.1 inches ; 11.7 pounds
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

LD9000 says: “There have been few reviews of this player online, and it’s mystery as to why not. Most reviews want to compare it to the Onkyo C-7030 CD player, which I own, so I will start there. Let me start off by saying that I bought this item through Amazon’s “Warehouse Deals”, at a great price. The listing stated (as they always do) that the item is “Used-Like New” or “good” or “acceptable”. The listing then describes the reason why it is used and the imperfections within. Mine was listed at “less than 5% cosmetic damage on the top of the item,
so I gave it a try. The player arrived double-boxed, and all items inside (remote, cords, manuals, etc) seem to be in their original packaging. I could not tell this was used. I inspected the player itself, and found a small (very small) indentation on the top and had to really look to see it. Thus, the “used’ term. This item was absolutely pristine, and once placed in the stereo rack, the imperfection disappeared completely. I will now use the Warehouse Deals with confidence in the future. Onto the player. If you are debating whether to buy this unit, or the Onkyo C-7030, the question is whether the price difference is justifiable. In my opinion, yes it is. The Onkyo player has more depth, a wider soundstage, and definitely more bass. In fact, the Onkyo player has to be the best deal ever in stereo equipment for the price it is offered at. I bought the Teac player at a $80.00 price drop for a second room, and it was certainly worth it for that. If it was going to be my main unit, I would spring for the Onkyo each and every time; there is definitely a difference in sound. If you are a casual listener and don’t care much about the technical differences in sound, the Teac will serve you well. The main differences between the two players are these:

1) Sound quality – The Onkyo wins hands down. If you want the best sound at the best price, and this is your main unit in your stereo / home theater system, you will want the Onkyo. It has the better overall sound, and the soundstage is unreal. The bass and depth of the sound are also very pronounced, and your CD collection will come alive with this unit. The Teac sounds wonderful, but as many reviewers have already written, the mid-range on this unit is the focal point. The highs are a bit shrill, and the bass takes a bit of a back seat to this. What this does mean is that your vocals will be way up front, and if your music is vocally driven this unit will let you hear just about every word the singer is saying. Also, the Teac sound is very clean and precise. If you have never heard the Onkyo, the Teac will sound fantastic to you. It really is a great unit at a great price.

2) USB access. You can record music from your CDs, onto a flash drive. I’m not sure who would want to do this, but I’m guessing that anyone who doesn’t have a CD burner on their computer might burn CDs onto a flash drive and load up an MP3 player from there.

3) NO eject button on the remote to for the CD tray itself. This is completely baffling to me. I didn’t take away a star for that, as I could have but the price vs performance keeps it at 5-stars. Why Teac wouldn’t put an eject button on the remote is strange. I’m guessing that the USB control button would have been that button, but they wanted to keep the remote small, which it is. It makes zero sense to have a power on/off button, and then make you bend down to open the tray to load the disc. It could be a deal breaker for some.

In conclusion, aside from the missing eject button, if you are a casual listener vs an audiophile, you will love this player at this price. It looks good, and it plays superbly. If you are an audiophile, and you want the best bang for your buck, then get the Onkyo C-7030 while they last. It is without a doubt, the best player on the market for that price. I’ve got a higher end Marantz CD player, and I have much trouble hearing the difference between the Onkyo and it. As a second player, or you just play CDs some time, the Teac is the way to go..

  • Extremely sophisticated circuitry and layout

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What color is this CD player?

Mine is black. Do not know if there are other colors.

2. How does the sound quality compare to the Bose Wave radio?

No idea!
But I am thinking that the disc changer is one component of three (CD player, amp and speakers) The end result would also rely on quality of amp and speakers.
Without real high end amp and speakers, this should be better than the wave radio. Not kicking the Bose system Just the package selection.

3. Can I hitch 4 speakers to this? Would be used in large area

there is no power unit (amplifier) in this cd player. It needs to be run through and external amp or receiver. The power of that external amp will determine how many speakers, etc. you can use.

4. It isnt standard rack height at 7.4 inches. Is this dimension correct? Standard height eould be 7.0 inches.

The side brackets come off to make it a free standing unit. I would guess that the feet remove easily if one wanted to install it in a rack. I can not check until next week, I will try to measure it for you, check the feet and get back to you
