Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can you send to a/b outputs at the same time, or do you have to use exclusively a or b?

If you are talking about playing speakers A and speakers B at the same time, then yes you can.

2. i noticed a l&r sub output. that means i can have a left and and a right sub added and get the stereo effect of the bass?

There is a single pre-out for connection to a powered subwoofer. You could use an RCA cable splitter if you really need two powered subs. However please note that due to the large wavelength (low frequency) of the sound waves in question the human ear is not sensitive to their directionality. That’s just a matter of physics.

Toward the other end of the frequency spectrum, sound waves are very dense and the human ear is hypersensitive to directionality; hence the popularity of ‘point source’ concentric drivers etc.

3. Bluetooth range?

I had to be directly in front of the receiver to sync. I could pick up music from my cell up to 50 feet before it started loosing the signal.

4. Does this receiver remember it’s last state (i.e. playing radio at a specific volume) when it turns back on?

yes. last volume setting, station tuned, bass, treble, etc are remembered

Ricky Alan Martin says: “I almost made a big mistake by purchasing another receiver that’s $20.00 cheaper on Amazon. I’m so glad I spent the extra money for the SX-10AE. I’m not sure I understand the complaints about the lack of power as far as volume. I start to hear the speakers at level 5 and, since I live in an apartment, I need to hold it down to the 25-35 range. I could never push the volume to the levels some

I’m not sure I understand the complaints about the lack of power as far as volume. I start to hear the speakers at level 5 and, since I live in an apartment, I need to hold it down to the 25-35 range. I could never push the volume to the levels some of the other reviews state. In short, I find no problems with the power of this amp that others have reported.

I’ve added a few photos. I bi-wired the SX-10AE to a pair of Polk Audio Monitor Series II floor standing speakers. To do this you remove the jumpers off the speaker terminals, then run 4 wires with 8 connections to both the A and B speaker outputs on the receiver. NOTE: You must turn the receiver to A+B speakers for this configuration. I have the top set of connections to the speakers going to the A receiver outputs and the bottom set of speaker connections going to the B receiver outputs.

My system thus far–and all components are available and purchased on Amazon:

Pioneer SX-10AE Receiver
Polk Audio Monitor Series II floor standing speakers (2 sold individually)
Amazon Basics 14 gauge speaker wire (100 feet cut into 25 foot segments)
Mediabridge banana plugs (16 required)
*Although not needed I’ll be buying a Polk subwolfer next payday 🙂

Other hints:

Always check, double check and triple check the speaker polarity as you can make mistakes
Label your speaker cables, especially when bi-wiring/bi-amping as it can get confusing

I’m blown away by the quality of this configuration..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does anyone name the actual cabinet dimensions?

Just measured mine and this is what I got, 13 1/4″ high, 17 3/4″ wide, 8 1/2″ deep.

2. Any comparisons between this 10 and the 12 inch pioneer subs? I’m looking to really bring out the low bass sound without rattling me and the next car.

Just enough bass to vibrate your mirrors not enough to have to turn down your stereo every time you drive by a cop.

3. does the amplifier have high level inputs for factory head unit without rca outputs?

Yes, this subwoofer has RCA low level inputs that the owners manual will state to cut to then connect speaker level wiring to.

4. Does this recognize when stock speakers aren’t receiving power so it will power itself off? This is needed when you tap audio from rear speaker deck.

I don’t think so, I wired the system remote line straight to the head unit to turn the amp on when the head unit is on.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Cristal says: “Installed in Subaru Forester so I could pound some beats while I vape. My girlfriend and her friends have requested I put down towels in the seats because the vibrations do funny things to them. This thing hits harder then my step dad after 9 Heineken’s and Denver Broncos loss at home to the Raiders. Highly recommend this Sub for anyone that listens to whale communication compilations. The vibrations this thing makes can only be discribed as mind numbing. At one point during a Melanie Martinez song, my nose vibrated and twitched like I was in the show Bewitched. Sadly this
subwoofer already made all of my dreams come true so I couldn’t think of anything to wish for. Since I installed this, my daily hour and a half drive one way to work has become a epic adventure. The chest fluctuations from the mass amount of air being bounced around in side the cockpit of my 99 fozzy, are heavenly. All in all, I’m pretty happy with this product and am considering ordering another one and running them together. Once the police officer finishes writting me my ticket for our local sound ordinance laws, I will be right back to vaping and beats..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. The pioneer website gives dimensions as 7-1/8″ x 1-1/2″ x 2-1/2. amazon webpage says size: 8.50in. x 6.95in. x 2.50in. which is correct?

I have a 1989 e34 and I have mine sitting behind the console dash so I’m pretty sure it’s what the amazon page says

2. Can I use this with a factory stereo and with replaced speakers (kickers in my case)

Yes you can. I’m running mine’s with a pioneer stereo and speakers and it sounds really good and clear. but you can install it to your factory stereo system. Just have to splice it in between your speaker wires and and its will give your factory stereo a pretty good boost of bass and tweeter sound. its sound really good with my setup. and I’m running 300watts per channel. good amp

3. I am about to install 6 speakers in my jeep. i think i only have 1 rca output in my head unit. is it possible to hook up all 6 ? 4 to amp, 2 t the hd?

I would contact Pioneer Tech Service and ask them. They are easy to reach and knowledgeable.

4. Can this safely output to a pair of 4 ohm speakers and a pair of 2 ohm speakers at the same time?

Per the manual, yes. Speakers must be at least 2 ohms, and yours are. 2 ohm speakers often play louder than 4 ohm, so you might need to adjust the output levels.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

TerryH says: “I had originally bought the Alpine KTP-445U two years ago in my 2015 F150, and now realize either something was wrong with it from the get-go or I did not have it setup correctly. I thought it was the new coaxial speakers I put in since I had to tune my highs and mids all the way down to keep my ears from bleeding when turned up past 50%. About a couple of months ago the volume started fluctuating real bad so I took the Alpine out to see if that what was causing it and sure enough, no more fluctuations,
and plus I was able to set my mids & highs back to normal. So when I ordered this Pioneer I wasn’t sure if I was going to get the same results as the Alpine.

The wiring was exactly the same as the Alpine so it wired up to the parrot connector perfectly. There isn’t the gain controls on the Pioneer like the Alpine and not as much hpf/lpf selections either which works just fine for me, I just set the filters to off and plugged it into the back of my head unit with the parrot harness and was pleasantly surprised at how much better it performs than the Alpine! I am able to keep my hi/mids were I like them and it packs a good punch all around.

And since I have my Kicker Hideaway wired into my rear speaker inputs, the 200 watts going to the rear adds to the 250 watts of the sub (not sure how it is split up though… 200/3 maybe?) But notice a lot more kick from the sub as well. So I am over all very please with this small amp..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I want to run two front speakers and 1 sub. would i need to have 2 rca pairs from my head unit to channel a and b on the amp ?

Yeah

2. What size wire does it take?

4 gauge for positive and negative wire. 16 or 14 gauge for speakers and remote wire. Use RCA’s cables

3. Can I run 4 6×9 off this amp?

Yes, I’m running with that now

4. When is the maximum rms for 4 for channels?

Im assuming whatever is rated?around 40w rms.I have it in 3 channel modefront channels powering 61/2 pioneer coaxials in front & 61/2 kenwood coaxials in backthen 3rd channel in bridged mode 130w rms powering 8inch 4ohm bazooka tubefricken system rocks! What Real Customers Say About This Product?

I hooked it up and used it for a short while it has plenty of Headroom nice power and sounds really good being a Class A and B amplifier of course. Would highly recommend for the price you cannot beat the amount of power that you will get for the price I would estimate this amplifier to be doing somewhere in the range of 950 to 1400 Watts and this is
my estimate with a single battery and a 200 amp alternator no second battery no battery Banks just a primary battery and a decent alternator I’m sure with a bunch of batteries you may be able to get even more or with a 350 amp alternator I’m sure but for what I have it works well.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. can I splice and connect the yellow power cable to power cable of the stereo?

You can but remember to change the fuse. If the fuse is #10 thing about #15 or #20.

2. does it have high level input terminals?

In short, yes it does. You can hook up to left/right speakers (high level input) or pre amp input and set the input switch accordingly. The one input terminal is used for either source. I’m using it on a motorcycle, works well. Good luck!

3. Can this be operated off 1 channel input instead of 2? If so, drawbacks?

There may be an issue if only one channel is being used for the signal. To get the full power and sound from the amp, you would have to adjust your balance to favor whichever side is feeding the signal get the full effect. I.E. middle balance half power, more to side feeding signal, more volume and bass, and to another side less bass and sound.

4. How well does it do 100hz to 200hz? I intend to use a low and a high pass to keep it in this range.

It is ok, use it for lows and speakers for highs only. If you have a small truck it will do the trick. I plan on buying one more for my suv. For how easy it is to install it is worth it.

I’d like to start by saying I’ve been buying and installing subs in my vehicles for 25 years now so it’s not my first rodeo. This sub is very compact with excellent sound. For all of those who see reviews that it has no power I would like to say you do have to know how to set it up. This sub rocks the best if you hook it up with the RCA low level inputs out of a head unit that can control the sub separately.

I initially had this in a car with a Pioneer amp. I did have to boost the sub level up to 5 out of 10. I turned the cross over all the way up to 125 hz on the sub but limited it to 100 hz at the head unit. I also use the option for deep bass as opposed to the dynamic option. The deep bass option makes it sound like a sealed enclosure whereas the dynamic makes it sound like a ported enclosure. My personal preference I’ve always liked sealed.

I currently have this in a car that I’m not changing out the head unit because it has nav. I hooked it up with high level (speaker wire) inputs and was disappointed with the output when you hook up an input from a weak stock head unit. I’ve decided to boost my sound system with Pioneer’s DEQ-S1000A digital signal processor which I’m positive will give me the sound I crave. The specs on the signal processor are the same as my old head unit in the last car. All speaker levels are adjustable as are the cross over points.

I paired this with the Pioneer TS-A series 6.5″ 3 way door speakers and TS-A tweeters in the pillars and it sounds amazing.

This is fairly easy to hook up as a few other reviewers mentioned. I ran power to the battery although I probably didn’t have to. Ground is almost always easy to find. I tapped into the rear speaker wires from the pillars that run between the doors using Posi-taps. You don’t have to hook up a remote signal when you’re using high level inputs, the amp turns on automatically when it senses speaker signal. If you hook up with low level RCA’s you will have to run a remote turn on signal.

I definitely recommend this unit for use in a vehicle that either has little extra space or you just don’t want to sacrifice your truck or hatch for an entire subwoofer box. This sub does hit hard and deep, response is down to 20 hz and I believe it. The sub just needs some external control for the best response..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What is the rms per channel also would it power four 6×8

40 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (65 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms) and 130 watts RMS x 2 in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode). I use it in my Navigator to power 6 speakers, 2 high range tweeters and 4 midrange 6 1/2 in the doors. Because of the wattage, I was a little concerned it wouldn’t keep up but overall, I’m happy with it. I imagine it would get the job done with 4 6×8’s you would just have to take a little extra time tweaking like I did. I’d reccommend it based on my experience, you wont go wrong with the price. If you find out its not for you, Im sure you could sell it and get all of your money back selling it to someone.

2. Es para bocinas o para bajos?

3. How many watts is the amplifier? And will it be good to power 1 10″ subwoofer and 2 6x9s?

4. Does this amp have a remote volume control? Not a remote level, but a remote volume control.

Charles W. says: “Great amp for the money, exceeded rating by a good margine, running two 6.5 JBL 100w and a pioneer 10” sub for a garage box with a Android headunit, and it sounds great. Doesn’t pull crazy current, about 25a at full tilt, and is clean at 138w per channel for the 6.5 and 248w for the sub. Definitely worth every penny. For all the reviews saying it gets hot or cuts off and on, set your gains correctly, get a cheap Oscope and set them so you are not clipping, I got mine to 16.75v on every channel with no clipping

The SC-1223-K takes the multi-channel audio experience to a whole new level with four advanced, sound-enhancing virtual speaker modes.

Rated at 150 watts x 7 channels at 6 ohms with two channels driven.

View larger The amplifiers that power the SC-1223-K are revolutionary, featuring a direct signal path with no noisy EMI filters, feedback loops or current limiting. Rated at 150 watts x 7 channels at 6 ohms with two channels driven, the SC-1223-K delivers significantly more simultaneous multi-channel power than the competition. When it comes to efficiency and sound, Class A/B amplifiers simply can’t match Class D3 designs as their power output per channel diminishes rapidly when more channels are added to the workload.

This kind of unprecedented power capability allows you to appreciate the full dynamics from any media source in a way never before possible. Playing formats like Blu-ray Disc, Class D3 takes high-resolution multi-channel Dolby and DTS soundtracks to a whole new level of immersive performance. And unlike regular amps, Pioneer Class D3 amplifiers are 4-ohm certified, so they safely power those low-impedance speakers that other receivers just aren’t designed to handle.

And because they’re Class D3, they run cool, using just a fraction of the energy of less efficient amplification. Power and efficiency…a winning design solution from Pioneer. Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What kind of heat does the unit throw off and can it be in an enclosed cabinet?

We have it in a media cabinet behind a glass door but the back panel of the cabinet is off allowing heat to be released. Haven’t noticed much heat output and I believe it has an eco mode, allowing it to run on a cooler temperature. I’m really happy with this unit

2. Why are the reviews for this item (as of 12/11/13) only from Amazon Vine members? Is anyone that purchased this item happy with it?

Another answer could be that this model is the “online-reseller” version of the Pioneer Elite SC-71..The Elite model is only warrantied by Pioneer when it’s sold through a local certified dealer. This also is not really a consumer level receiver, so people who are considering it may go through a local dealer rather than here on Amazon..And they’d get (and review) the SC-71 (it actually only has 8 reviews.. and they’re also mixed..).They might not be the type to review products, though.Anyway, 1K for a receiver is probably not most people’s idea of a regular-ol’-receiver purchase, so reviews are harder to come by (I know a lot of traffic showed up here because of Amazon’s deal-of-the-day and this receiver was NOT 1K that day). There was a big deal on the SC-1522-k (previous year’s “big brother” to this receiver) a while back and there’s a large owners’ thread on a popular AV forum..You can probably get a lot of info there. They should be very similar receivers in terms of performance and issues..

3. Can pandora, spotify etc. accounts be set-up over network on receiver? does it require an app on mobile, or tv hdmi connection to play any of them?

I don’t know the answer. I use amazon fore stick for all.

4. Does it have a sensor to automatically adjust speakers for optimum theatre setup?

Yes, the unit comes with a setup microphone that plugs into the receiver and sends a series of test tones and sounds to each speaker to determine the size, distance, and placement of each channel.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

scotsman19 says: “The only reason I looked at this device was that in 2013 it was on a Gold Box Deal and my friend had bought a Pioneer receiver recently and really liked it. When I saw the Gold Box Deal I couldn’t believe they were offering it for half price. It’s been a year since I bought it and I have loved using it. I haven’t used any of the dual zone related features yet, but we’ve used the iPod port, the network streaming, and multiple HDMI connections for a PS3 and a SageTV frontend device. The AirPlay works great from iTunes
on our computer and iPod/iPhones and the Network streaming works great from my NAS using DLNA. We recently hooked up a Chromecast through one of the HDMI ports and that works well too.

Some of the settings aren’t as easy to find as they have been in some of my previous receivers, but I figured them out eventually. I updated the firmware recently and that was pretty straight forward and had no complications. I have a CyberPower UPS behind it to protect it and some of my other A/V devices.

I love that you can rename the inputs and hide the ones you aren’t using. I’m using my HarmonyOne remote to control it and the rest of my A/V equipment. I only run at 5.1 for now and the sound has been wonderful. I did tweak my subwoofer settings a bit to get more bass from it than what the automatic calibration settings via the mic set it up with. I took advantage of the various tools to setup the device online or in app.

It would be nice if options like bluetooth and wireless network were incorporated, but that wasn’t a show stopper for me. Overall opinion is great. We’ve really enjoyed the receiver and how it fits in with our environment..
