1. Kershaw Leek, Teal Pocket Knife (1660TEAL); 3” Bead-Blasted High-Performance Sandvik 14C28N

Kershaw’s popular lineup of the Leek is back with a sleek bead-blasted blade and teal handle for an eye-catching, and exciting EDC. Like all Leek’s, the teal version features a 3-inch Sandvik stainless steel blade with a razor-sharp edge, highlighting excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance and toughness. The modified drop-point blade, bead-blasted for stylish good looks to help hide scratches, makes it an ideal-shaped knife for slicing, while the slim tip makes piercing and detail work easy.

The handle, made of 6061-T6 anodized aluminum and bonded with a teal dye, is resistant wear, corrosion and fading. SpeedSafe assisted opening offers smooth one-handed blade operation using the flipper or thumbstud. The Leek’s secure locking liner prevents accidental blade closure during use and a sliding tip-lock keeps the blade safely in the handle during transport. The pocketclip is reversible for tip-up or tip-down carry and the handle is pre-drilled for lanyard attachment.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is this knife legal to carry in all states?

I don’t know That’s a pretty brunch statement all states have different laws. This is just a awesome holding pocket knife that locks in the open position and is small yet a perfect size.

2. Is the 1660teal leek a frame or liner lock? the picture shows a liner lock but the description says it’s a frame lock, which one is it?

It is my understanding all Leeks share the same mechanisms and are indeed FRAMElocks. The images here on the product page, you can’t really see the frame bend into the lock position but there is no liner at all. The split is hidden under the clip. Hope that helps.

3. Dose it look like the last picture in real life?

Absolutely! This color is beautiful plus the Leek model is one of my favorites. It is extremely sharp and I have four different colors of this model. I would recommend this knife to anyone

4. How strong is this Sandvik steel ? The blade, especially the tip of the leek is very thin. Can it cut cardboard or will the tip break off ?

The blade is thin and very pointed. If dropped onto a hard surface you will bend or break the tip. The knife is razor sharp out of the box and will easily cut cardboard. If this is the sole purpose of the knife purchase, while durable, I would recommend a larger knife.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

JayJay says: “Because it was light and I’m a fan of Kershaw I opted to take this knife with me as I thru hike the Pacific Crest Trail this year. In case you don’t know it’s a 2652 mile trail starting at the Mexican border in Campo, CA, to the Canadian border near Mazama, WA. Throughout it all I used it to cut cardboard to custom make boxes to mail gear home, opened many many boxes, cut plenty of summer sausages, cut plenty of bags, cut cordage of various types, shaved bark off of sticks, got soaked in hand sanitizer for hours, and
survived easily several weeks of rain in Washington. There is not a spec of rust on it which surprised me from all my stainless steel use but I guess straight up humidity isn’t as bad as salt water.
I am very picky with my knives and always sharpen everything to a razor sharp edge. I did not want to have to sharpen a knife on trail so I gave this a try. This knife started the trail razor sharp and ended razor sharp! I may strop it but I won’t even bother honing it.
The only thing I did not like is the shape of the edge but I knew that from the start. I would highly recommend this to any other backpackers out there that wants a reliable low maintenance cutting tool.
Additionally several times I used the back of the knife to tighten the trekking pole lock adjustment screws on my Black Diamond Alpine. It was never intended for it but it worked excellently!.

“Stick it with the pointy end!”
-John Snow

2. can this be put on a keychain?

There is a way too yes but probably not very functional

3. i cant close it. Can anyone explain how to retract the blade? I wish there was a video because the comments below aren’t helping?

It has a liner lock, move the piece of metal at the bottom of the blade to the left to unlock it. For more
info for search YOUTUBE for LINER LOCK KNIFE. Thanks!

4. Does this knife still have “First Production” written on it?

I got my knife February 1st and it doesn’t have “first production” written on it, it has “The X Bay” written on one side and “440 stainless steel handcrafted in China” on the other side is smaller print

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I am not a skilled knife sharpener. What’s your favorite “easy” sharpening tool?

This is by far the easiest, and it’s also very inexpensive and portable.Impossible to make a mistake with something like this–just pull the knife through a few times. There are obviously better ways of sharpening (stones, strops, etc), but this a great way to get the job done fast.http://www.amazon.com/Smiths-PP1-Pocket-Multifunction-Sharpener/dp/B000O8OTNC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1416348764&sr=8-4&keywords=knife+sharpener

2. what is the lenght od the knife

Closed it is 3 3/8 inches. The blade itself is 2 3/8 inches. This is the smaller of the series. There is also a Buck 112 that is slightly smaller than its big brother, the 110.

3. Is coming with brown holster?

My came without any holster? the bigger buck knives (110, 119, 113, 112) usually come with holster, but all on little ones have not.

4. Is this made in USA now.

Buck website says yes and the box it came in said Made in USA. Some of their lower end fixed blades are made in China, but I think all their folders are still made here.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Tony from Florida says: “I have a number of different Buck Knifes. All of them are excellent. The 55BRS is the perfect pocket knife. It’s small enough to fit in a ‘watch pocket’ in your jeans. It’s handy enough to use for most around the house tasks. It has a lock-back blade for safety and holds a very sharp blade. I can see this as my everyday knife. I also have a 112BRS Folding Ranger knife and a 110 Folding Hunter knife. They do vary in length and size. You can see the 3 of them compared in the photo. The 55 is on top,
the 112 is in the middle and the 110 is on the bottom..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Where is it manufactured?

The TS series of Boker knives are “assembled” in Germany of parts made in China. That’s why they are cheaper than real German-made Bokers, which say Solingen on the base of the blade. Don’t be fooled.

2. Whag kind of steel is the blade made out of (high carbon stainless steel is not any steel alloy I’ve ever heard of)?

I can tell you that the blades are stainless and that they do hold an edge very well. I am a hobbies and a farmer so I use a pocket knife as a tool. Also it is very easy to sharpen back to a shaving edge. I’m planning on buying another larger one for my larger tasks.

3. I’ve never had good luck with blades made from chinesium. anyone know where i can get a boker with german solingen and assembled in germany??

There are several knives manufactured in Germany. Only the ones with item # 110721-110747, 110273BB & 110250WB are not assembled in Germany. Any stockmans starting with item # 117474will be manufactured 100% in Germany.

4. what size is it.

3 !/2 ” overall with one 2 3/4 ” main blade and two 1/7/8″ secondary blades. I got my first one in 1947. It’s a very fine knife.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Matthew says: “It has the beautiful fit and finish that you’d expect from a German made folder. Opening the blade is glassy smooth without even applying any oil. One thing to note on this one though is the blades are super thin, thinner than any slipjoint knife I have, and I have a pretty good collection of them. They’re razor sharp right out of the box, though and they’re good for whittling, which is what I mainly use them for. If you plan to do anything more heavy duty than that you’re going to need something more substantial, though.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does this knife have a locking mechanism to prevent accidental closure?

No. It’s just a small pen-knife type knife; pressure from use keeps the blade from closing. Usually larger-bladed knives have a locking mechanism.

2. What do I use to sharpen the blade? I’ve had this over a year and love it, but I need to sharpen it but not ruin it by doing it wrong. Any suggestions

I use a diamond machining technology (DMT) sharpener–fine + medium surfaces.Actually, I use only the fine and amazingly enough that seems sufficient. The one I have no longer appears to be listed on Amazon, but I would think any fine DMT sharpener would be OK–they’re relatively inexpensive. The closest I can come to what I have ishttp://www.amazon.com/DMT-D4F-Dia-Sharp-Continuous-Diamond/dp/B002D4K90M/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1392345271&sr=8-27&keywords=diamond+machining+technology

3. Is this hard to open/close

Absolutely not. It opens and closes easily.

4. Does this knife have a sheatth???

This knife does not come with a sheath. It is meant to be carried in your pocket
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

JamieJ says: “My Dad had a knife much like this one and I lost it after I had begged to borrow it. That was many, many years ago and when I got interested in “whitteling” and found this little beauty, I was a happy camper. Most people won’t even know what I’m talking about, but it’s very relaxing (has no other purpose) to just sit on my sunny deck with some apple tree trimmings and whittle them away into splinters. Yep. At 73 I live a very complicated life.
