1. Kensington Wireless Presenter with Red Laser Pointer (K33374USB)

Professionals count on Kensington for control of their presentations. With a highly reliable wireless connection and intuitive controls, this remote allows you to focus on what matters most — making an effective presentation. With a 4-button layout, you can easily go forward and back on your PowerPoint or Keynote slides, while the other two buttons offer a screen blackout option and a red laser pointer. The wireless 2.4GHz receiver stores conveniently inside the remote, and since it’s uniquely paired, you don’t have to worry about device interference.

Kensington Wireless Presenter with Red Laser Pointer (K33374USB)

  • Provides forward and back control of PowerPoint and keynote with no drivers needed
  • Plug and play simplicity requires no setup
  • Internal storage for wireless USB receiver so it won’t get lost
  • Compatible with PC and Mac
  • 65-Foot wireless range
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can the pointer be used just for its laser without the usb connection?

Yes. Once you remove the usb connector you can use it just as a laser pointer.

2. If the USB is lost, can I use a new USB from the store or do I have to order a special USB?

You need a special USB that talks to the clicker.

3. Should I take the batteries out when I am not using it?

No need to. The only time in took the batteries out was during the summer when I was not going to use it for two months.

4. is this compatable with windows 7

Yes, it works great with Windows 7.

My first Kensington pointer finally gave up the ghost after nearly 10 years of near daily use, including hundreds of presentations and millions of air miles in a largely unprotected bag of electronics. To protect this one, I’ve added a travel case (.

My hang up in doing that had been a lack of a “clicker.” Now I have one and it has made a tremendous difference.

This thing fits my hand nicely, is not heavy so you can pack it around the room, easily slips into a pocket when you need both hands to make a point and your hand instantly relocates the correct button for the job. I did find out that the laser pointer does not work on a television screen. That is how we display things in our meeting rooms. That is an issue relating to that not the laser itself. The laser works fine on the wall and other media methods. This will seem like a little thing but it makes a huge difference, the laser points pretty close to where you need it intuitively before you hit the button..

Not many people have talked about crossover from mac to pc, so I’ll address it here:

This remote is plug-and-play for both pc and mac. No need to install drivers or go through set-up wizards. Even more, the remote works on any active program—meaning that if you are on a mac and have both keynote and powerpoint open, it will work on whichever program is currently active and in-view on your desktop, without any issues.

What does this mean, exactly? It means that if you are primarily a keynote user, and you are putting on a conference, and one of your colleagues has a powerpoint file, you can use the same remote for the same computer for both applications. Just switch applications and the remote works. No fuss, no muss.

The only challenge with this remote is making sure no one in the office hoards it in their desk..

But the designers thought of several other nice features. First, there is no “off” button – you turn the remote off by inserting the USB plug-in into the case for storage. That means you won’t accidentally have the remote turn on, and run down the battery, while it’s being carried in your briefcase. Second, the remote uses standard AAA batteries, not CR-type coin batteries, which makes it much easier to buy new batteries if you’re on the road. I also like the little green light that blinks on the USB plug-in when you press a button, so you know if the remote is working or not.

I have tried this remote on my MacBook Pro, and had no problem running a Powerpoint presentation at a distance of 20 feet.

The only drawback is that the laser is not very bright (as is typical for these handheld remotes). It’s fine for a small room, but for a larger audience I always use a separate higher-power laser pointer, so this is not an issue to me.

Overall, I am delighted with this remote, and hope that it proves to be as durable as it looks..

Rally McDermott says: “I have been using this in a classroom environment. I find it is easy to use without searching for the buttons. It is comfortable to have in the hand for 3-4 hours at a time. I like that if I pass it to a student, it is not difficult to use. I have not moved very far from the computer, but at ranges of 20 yards or so, there is no interference and the red dot seems visible from about 10 yards with no problem. The only thing that I would want improved is the size of the red dot. It
is a little small and a bit difficult for students near the back to see. Other than that, I luv the thing!.

I had a navigator remote (almost identical shape and design) for many years. I always had to remove the batteries when I travelled so they wouldn’t run down. When my navigator broke I bought this. It is wonderful. Much cheaper than a navigator and basically the same operation as my old navigator but with critical differences:
> small USB dongle fits INTO the remote when not in use. BY inserting in the remote it kills the batteries so you NEVER have to remove the batteries. To remove dongle from remote just press on it and it pops out. then you insert it into the laptop. Windows 7 home premium 64 bit recognized it immediately but I suspect it would work with any windows version (old or new). I used to have to carry a bag for the remote, the dongle, and the two batteries. Now I just carry the remote since the other parts are inside of it.
>USB dongle is half the length of the navigator version with makes it easier to use when space is at a premium
>Buttons are much smaller. Initially I thought this was bad as I was used to very large buttons, but I quickly retrained myself and now I see a big advantage. My navigator broke because the buttons got smashed in my suitcase. I suspect that will not happen with these buttons. Though they are small they are far apart so even someone with weak or frail hands should have no trouble with this..

RSD48 says: “I have seen reviews for this that implied they cannot be used with Macs. My husband and I both have Macs (2010 MacBook Pro and 2013 MacBook Air), and we both teach. Our systems at the college allow us to feed presentations through an overhead projector to a drop down screen. These are simple remotes, just forward and back + a black out button when you don’t want students looking at the screen. I bought this newer one so I did not have to pocket an additional laser pointer. The antenna plugs into the USB port and it is totally plug
and play after you indicate onscreen that you are using a US type keyboard. Both John and I walk around as we teach and this allows us to be anywhere in the room. The advantage over the native Mac remote is that the Air does not have an infrared window on the leading edge of the computer to be able to use it and with the Pro you have to be aligned with the computer for the beam to register, keeping you in close proximity. We like the freedom to move about that this one provides. I’ve had the original one for about 3 years and it still works great. It is now becoming the hand me down for my husband so I can have this one with an incorporated laser..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Do you know if R400 works for google docs (presentation)?

Yes, it does. As long as that is the active tab, it will work. Additionally, it will work on Google Slides using Chrome OS and even using Chrome OS to stream it to a TV via a Chromecast. This presenter is VERY Chrome/Google friendly! Tested it on both a Chromebook and a Chromebox.

2. is this compatible with my MacBook laptop computer

3. Can this be used for powerpoint demonstrations

Yes. I have used it with PowerPoint presentations on both Mac and Windows. I have also used it with Prezi presentations on Windows.

4. does this or any of the logitech Presenters have the Unifying receiver technology

The earliest review for this seems to have come out before the Unifying receiver system.Too bad, I would prefer to have one dongle plugged into my laptop and be able to have it work with both a mouse and presenter.Seems like Logitech is missing a good opportunity there. The presenters are getting long in the tooth, maybe an update will come out that will fix that or perhaps a good enough bluetooth presenter will come out.

6) No software to download – Just plug in, wait a few seconds, then ready for use.
7) Intuitive Controls – Easy to use and understand.
8) Ergonomic – Have held for 1+ hour presentations. Comfortable to hold. Also light which is a plus.
9) Travel Friendly – Small and easy to transport. Comes with a nice Travel case. The part of the remote that you plug into the computer you are using fits into the remote, so everything is in one small convenient package.

Cons:
1) Would have preferred the ability to charge via USB rather than using batteries. However, the battery life is good so this isn’t a huge con for me.
2) Would like to have ability to play Videos on PowerPoint with this. It’s not often, but sometimes I have videos embedded in my presentation. I can set it to where it will play automatically upon starting the slide, however a function to pause and play would be useful. I don’t really use this much, but for people with a lot of videos in their presentation, this may be a concern..

This simple product has given us such a competitive advantage against other groups, of whom we were graded against. Every professor comments on our professionalism with the clicker. I works perfectly and doesn’t require any downloads. It’s as easy as plugging it in and clicking away. The only thing I would be weary about is when you use Google Slides. If you don’t maximize the presentation screen, sometimes the clicker won’t work. It’s an easy fix that doesn’t make me vote any less
than 5 stars on this product.

TeaPartyHost says: “If you are looking at this, you are probably considering whether you need this or not for a professional presentation. Bringing your own presentation clicker makes you look so much more professional than the average person who is fumbling around with the one provided, asking for a laser pointer, or standing at the keyboard, looking down for the “Enter” key every 60 seconds. (Also, this one is Logitech, so you know it works EVERYWHERE.) Be an adult, win the presentation game, all for less than the cost of the beers you would buy people while apologizing for your presentation not going
so well, because you decided to “wing it”..

J. McWhirter says: “I’ve had a number of presentation clickers – this one is pretty much the epitome of the concept. Hardly anything negative to say about this. It is simple – just a few controls, well laid out and obvious to use. I’ve had ones that were so complicated and did so much that they were useless. This one will do just a few things – start your slide show, move to next or previous slide, and blank the screen. That’s all a presenter should do! And the USB fob for the computer stores neatly into the pointer when not in use –
brilliant. The laser pointer is good but not great – but quite usable. Only small negative is that the power button can be fairly easily turned on accidentally, and the batter cover comes off a bit to easy. But I’d buy this one again in a heartbeat if the one I have now was lost..

I expect this to be my go to presenter for quite a while. The range is plenty for presentations on smaller stages, meeting halls, or classrooms. If you are walking 20+ steps across a stage, this *might* not be powerful enough.

Only weakness is that a brighter or bigger laser would be nice. It is a little small for a classroom setting.

However, among the presenters I’ve looked in to. I think this one hits the sweet spot of price and quality. Clearly superior choices cost about twice as much. I did not find a less expensive choice close enough to this quality and performance..

Initial impressions, feels good in the hand. Comes with genuine Duracell AAA batteries which are my favorite. The fact that the USB dongle stores in the base of the remote is genius, love it! The mesh zipper travel bag is a nice touch, and will help keep it undamaged in my laptop bag.

I’m running OS X Yosemite on a 2011 MacBook Pro. I plugged in the USB dongle and the keyboard wizard immediately popped up. Some other reviews here said for Mac just close the wizard and the remote will still work (albeit one reported the play button did not function). I left the wizard open, and hit some of the keys on the remote. It popped up asking me if this was a generic US, UK, or Japan keyboard. I selected US and finished the wizard. Opened MS PowerPoint and the remote works perfectly. The play button and display mute buttons both work as well. Although the play button opens the slide in Standard View, and I prefer Presenter View for external screen output. Will have to see if I can tweak that button’s settings. Last but not least, the forward and back slide buttons work perfectly which is the real key. I tested the range at 20-30ft which is the max I will ever use it.

Highly recommended!.

Looking back, I probably would have bought the R800, just to get a green laser pointer, better range, a timer, vibrations, radio signal strength indicator etc. However, that has nothing to do with this. So, if you want more, take a look at that one.

Don’t buy a cheaper product. Those products are cheaper for good reason. It could be overall design, or materials, or customer service (logitech sent me a brand new k800 keyboard when I told them one key was broken), or quality control (how many lemons/bad quality reviews do you see for logitech? for other brands?). You’ll be making a tradeoff you’ll likely wish you hadn’t. Those products are not cheaper because Logitech is somehow not giving you your moneys worth..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What kind of battery does this pointer use?

AAA

2. In google drive, the arrow keys move the video forward or backwards 5 sec at a time. The presenter will not do this. Anyone know why?

As I understand the presenter is set up for Power Point. It probably bypasses keyboard commands and communicates direct with Power Point page up and page down. In Word, Visio and Outlook it is page up and page down. It does not work thru arrow keys.

3. Does this work with pro presenter?

This remote Wireless Presenter comes with a USB which is for plugging into a USB port on your laptop. The remote device communicates with the USB device inserted into the computer. The signals travel back and forth between the two and tells whatever software to change slides I use Microsoft Power Point and it works fine with that
Here is a Logitech description of the remote: “A storable plug-and-play wireless receiver makes it simple to get started—just plug the receiver into a USB port and use it right away. There’s no software to install. When you’re through, the receiver stores inside the presenter to make packing up easy.”

4. I know this works for power point. Will this work for google slides too?

Yes. It also works for Keynote presentations

I actually misplaced the jump drive and was no longer able to use the clicker, so I reached out to the seller to learn whether I could buy a new jump drive. Without even responding, they just sent me a whole new unit. Great product. Great price. Great service. What more could you

L. Pellegrini says: “A few days before an important presentation I realized I did not have a laser pointer to use with my PP presentation. I ordered the ESYWEN Wireless Presenter Remote and did not have time to test it out until the actual presentation. I thought to myself ‘Give it a 50/50 chance of working’. It worked great. All I really needed was the laser pointer, but the page advance (forward and back) work flawlessly. The receiver unit is stored cleverly in the main unit until needed and plugged into a USB of my laptop and things were ready to go (to my
amazement). My wife and I have used this remote many times now with zero problems.
Very small, good price, and it works. I would recommended this without hesitation..

I was ecstatic. As I got the hang of adding animation and sound clips into my PowerPoints, I was hooked. This clicker allowed me to be in front of my classroom, pointing to the visuals on my slides without walking back and forth between the computer. Thus this allowed for more student engagement. The battery life is extremely good and I often forget to turn the clicker to “off.” If I had to estimate, I would say I was able to use the clicker up to a month and a half before I had to charge it again. An added bonus and why I love this clicker so much is the laser. I routinely use the laser to give my students nonverbal reminders or when I’m meeting with a group and I wanted to get the attention of a off-task student across the room. Get the clicker, I promise you it will change your life..

RK says: “At my company I do Power Points a lot and really depend on this Wireless remote. I have owned many different remotes and this one is by far the best. After using it for about 6 months I thought about what if I lost the remote or the receiver and since I Iike it so much I bought a spare one. Recently I did lose the USB remote, left it somewhere in one of the company computers and never to be seen again. You can buy replacement USB receivers here on Amazon which I bought two of those. I always read
all the reviews on products and the USB receiver where about 50/50 on what people thought about them. They don’t cost but about $7.00 dollars each so I bought two just to give it a try. Once I did receive the USB receivers I had to try them out after reading some of the bad reviews about them and then I found out why some said they don’t work at least I think I know why. They probably just plugged the USB receiver into their computer forgetting they have to press the CONNECT BUTTON on the back of the remote before the USB receiver will work! Anyway I think this is a great product and the best remote I’ve ever had. Extra USB receivers can be found by typing this into Amazon search box: BEBONCOOL USB Receiver for D100 Mode Presenter (Only USB Receiver) I just received them today and both worked perfect AFTER pushing the CONNECT BUTTON on the back of the remote!.

It was recommended to me by another teacher in our building as the remotes have stopped working on a lot of our in house projectors. It has adapted well to all of the presentation platforms: Google Slides, Prezi, and Power Point. I use this on a Windows computer, but the setup is very much a plug and play (no tech guys needed) so I feel confident it would work on Apple products as well. I also love the
integrated laser pointer. Great find!.

Ann M says: “August 3, 2015. Ordered on 8/1/2015 and received it on 8/3/2015. The clicker is small, love this, needs one AAA battery to operate but is not supplied. So far I have tried it out on google presentation, Smartboard presentation and Prezi, and all of them move to the next slide with the page up/down buttons. These same buttons will scroll down/up a page if you are in a word document, PDF or even on an internet page. The escape/resume button refreshes a page which might be more useful if you are on a web page. The red laser works but I
will need to use it under the conditions for which it was bought for which is a classroom. Receiver fits a standard usb port and the visible part sticks out from the computer about 5/8 inch (see image – it’s the topmost receiver).

All of the above was done without an external monitor, so I’m not sure what to think regarding the blackout screen feature. It just does not work on my computer. Until I get to test the clicker in my classroom and an external projector, I’m knocking off some stars since the blackout screen feature is necessary for me as a teacher. Not sure if I have a defective unit but I will update.

Update: 3 stars to 5 stars 8/22/2015 I contacted customer service about the dark out feature and they were super nice and sent me a replacement item. All is well now and thank you to Beboncool’s great service. A+++.

No installing, going through programs, trying to get it to communicate with my computer, it was just ready! The pointer button is nice and central on the remote and works great. I love that it has the black out screen button option for when I’m trying to get my powerpoint ready. The only thing I wish is that the forward and back buttons weren’t so much on the
sides of the remote. Every once in a while I accidentally hit them when I didn’t mean to or have to hit them twice, but overall, GREAT product and well worth the money!.

Shane says: “I really liked the product and used it effectively in my lectures. But after 9 months it has stopped working entirely. I’ve poked and prodded at the connections and tried a few batteries to no avail. Again, it’s a good product when it works, but I think a 9-month life-cycle is short even for electronics. And given the reliability issues, if I were to buy it again I’d have to buy two of them to make sure I had a backup in case the first failed during an important presentation. Price matters, and they’re selling them at a great price, but
reliability also matters.

Edit: They sent me a new unit at no charge. Very good customer service. I’m hoping the failure of the first unit was just bad luck. Will update this review if this isn’t the case. In the meantime, I’m very pleased with the seller–if you have an issue, contact them..

Worship has gone so much better since I got this product and started using it. It works when I put the dongle in the port on my laptop, works from anywhere in the room, and makes me look as though I know what I’m doing. The only “maintenance” it needs is for me to remember to turn it off between uses to extend battery life. I’m in my fifties and my young-adult
son showed me how to use it in about a minute. When I’m not using it, I keep it in the drawstring bag provided, which fits easily into my small bag..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Has anyone actually tested the r800 on a Mac running OS X Mavericks (10.9)? It did work for some previous Mac OS…

I got this for a 2010 MacBook running Mavericks and it works perfectly. When you get the keyboard detection window you just close it, the window even says it can be skipped if you’re not trying to hook up a keyboard. Then go into keyboard settings for Keynote and map Start Presentation to F5 and the start button will work perfectly as well.

2. I have the R400, the red laser would not show on the TV surface my client had in his conference room. Will the green be any better?

Your question call my attention, so I just tried on my TV (Old Tv), LCD Computer screen, Laptop screen, windows, glass, microwave, and It works over all the surfaces,I also recall, that green light powerful than red, so I tried pointing at the building across the street (probably 300 yards), and I see the dot really clear, But on the LCD it becomes a little blurry, probably because of the surface porosity

3. Are the keys or LCD screen backlit?

The keys nor the LCD screen are back-lit. However, The keys are easy to use because of their size and shape and the LCD screen displays a timer and when the timer gets down to one minute and again at zero minutes the presenter vibrates before the timer starts counting upward (extra time over the preset time). Hope that helps.

4. can it be used without a computer? just as a pointer

Just the laser and timer? yeah

Just this week (8/8/2016), the buttons started to wear out – I have to hit the button two, three, or four times to change a slide. I just purchased another R800 without hesitation (and was VERY glad to see they are still available).

In my opinion, this is a fantastic high quality tool that does exactly what is designed to do. It changes slides forward and back with no hassle. The green laser pointer is very bright (much better than the R400’s red laser). It is comfortable in the hand and fits easily in your pants pocket. You can blank the slides with a simple click. I simply could not ask for more in a remote presenter type of tool. Note: I do not utilize the timer on the device, so I really cannot comment on that feature.

I have used this presenter on Windows systems (running Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10), MAC OSX through El’ Capitan, and even a few times on systems running Linux. I have never had a problem or needed to do any special setup. You just plug it in and it works.

I am extremely happy with it… In fact, I wonder if I should have bought two today so I would have a spare in case they stop making it?????

I hope this is a help..

The not so good :-(. Although not a reason to not buy it altogether, this pointer is designed for Windows and requires some twitching for the Mac OS and the MacBook Pro 2016+. The problem with the remote is related to 2 of the 4 buttons on the remote not working as Keynote expects. After plugging in the USB antenna into your laptop and pressing the buttons on the remote, Keynote interprets the 2 lower buttons differently that expected. The button on the lower left should “Play Slideshow” and the one on the right should “blank” the screen (the equivalent of pressing the letter B on the keyboard in Keynote). However, the “button” signal sent from the presenter to the USB antenna is not what Keynote expects. That creates the problem. To fix the first button: On you computer, go to System Preferences (under the ) and select Keyboard, Application Shortcuts and Keyboard Shortcuts and click the + button. Find Keynote and type After selecting Keynote, “Play Slideshow” (Capitalization matters.) This is the menu item you will be giving the F5 shortcut to for the Play Slideshow button. To fix the “blank Screen button” you need a little more tweaking: You need to create a new keyboard map with Ukelele (free application you can download online), then remap the ¨.¨ to the letter ¨b¨ in a new keyboard layout you will use for your presentations only. Once your presentation is over you can switch back to your common qwerty or qaerty keyboard.

The last thing to consider is that the presenter Antenna has a USB connector and you will need a USB-C adaptor if you, like me, have a New MacBook Pro 2015+.

Now all the buttons of Logitech Professional Presenter R800 ( I think also R400), work perfectly and without any problem on Keynote too. Hence, this presenter device will completely work on MAC OS X, if you apply the above trick..

I originally got it from office depot and found it cheaper here on Amazon so I returned it as office depot. I was using the kensington remote previously and it worked great for a long time but then I lost it. I purchased that back in 2010. Well I got another one and it didn’t perform so well. I returned it for another and that one didn’t do good either. It
said 50 feet and was giving me more like 8-10ft. I saw this clicker for a long time and decided to go for it and it has been the best clicker. I really like the timer and I used frequently but I wish it would start from zero and just keep counting. You have to program a time into it and then it counts down and I don’t like that feature. It buzzes in your hands when you have gone past your program time. The green lazer really shows up nice on the screen so your audience can see it. The red lazer on the Kensington never really could be seen on the screen. Some people said they had problems on their Mac with the R800 but for me on Yosemite it has been really nice and I stand about 50 ft away and it does the job really well.

UPDATE: 3/25/18 – Now running this on a 2018 Macbook Pro with touch bar 15 inch and it runs flawless with High Sierra. Best ppt or keynote remote you’ll ever buy. Love the green laser as it shows up very well. I hated the price on this as it is more than the others but I guess you get what you pay for..

I really like this one even better than the last. The green laser is a giant plus, because it is a lot easier to see from a distance, and battery life is amazing. I like that the timer function is easy to control and there is a convenient and ergonomic slot for the USB dongle. The presenter has an almost rubbery feel to it, so no worries about
it slipping out of the hand. And the auto shutoff has saved my batteries more than a few times, but never in a presentation. I loved this presenter so much, when my friend needed one, I gave him my old one and bought the same one again!.

It nicely fits in the palm of your hand and is very light. All of us who have used it are happy with it and have no issues with it. The only thing that I wish they could change would be the laser. It’s not as strong as I wanted it to be. The dot is also pretty small so it gets
lost on our screen. We have a 15’x25′ screen so the laser is hard to notice at times. Other than that the control works flawlessly as it should. it also has other options but we have not played with it yet..

3. I am considering the purchase of an 819 or an 820 but I don’t see any details as to the ranges of either, Please fill me in. Thanks

The ranges of the 819 and 820are the same. The key difference between that the 820 has a wireless mouse along with volume control. The laser pointer is also stronger with the 820.However the 819 has the main features you are likely to need from a presentation remote as well as the black screen function which is not available with the 820. Let us know if you have any other questions on the difference between 819/820 presentation remotes.

4. Is this a logitech r400 oem or knockoff?

I had the opportunity to use the Logitech and the r400. Yes they look exactly alike but the r400 has a better response time and much brighter laser. I used them both in a two day seminar and everyone preferred the r400 because of the brighter laser and better response time.

As a university lecturer, I can walk around the entire room and still easily use the remote without even aiming it at the kiosk. It has a red laser light to use as a pointer (or to wake up errant undergrads). The clicker also has a blackout button to blank the screen. And, of course, left and right buttons. This bean shaped clicker is lightweight and fits well in my hand.

Done with your slideshow? Turn to off position, take USB from computer and slide into place, zip into the case.

Pros: Where ya been all my life (or past decade of teaching)? I can’t believe I waited so long to purchase. Compared to the remotes I’ve used it’s light and can be used at a good distance from the computer. I got it using Prime, so it arrived in just 2 days.

Cons: Must add batteries (no idea yet how often I’ll need to change. Trying to be good about turning it to “off” position). The soft case should be a hard case to protect the clicker inside a large tote. However. I’m just keeping it inside the case AND in the black box packaging which is working well so far..

It’s a good shape for my hand, the arrows to advance slides and to go back make sense (the arrows on other versions I’ve had seemed backwards). The only complaint I have is that the laser pointer doesn’t
work on my Smartboard, but that’s not an issue with the remote as much as it is an issue with the Smartboard. So far, I like it!.

The only improvement I could suggest is to make the on/off slider button a little easier to move – – maybe deeper ridges. If it could power itself down after an hour or so of no button pushes that might be nice, as long as it didn’t otherwise reduce battery life or cost.
All in all, a perfect product at a good price..

And I HAVE to have a presenter with a convenient place to store the USB plugin, or I’ll lose it. This presenter has the storage port on TOP so I notice immediately if I forgot to pull it from my laptop and put it back. And the little zippered storage bag–bonus! I use the presenter nearly every day in my classroom for PPTs AND just as
a great laser pointer, and it’s perfect. Best presenter I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had quite a few!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Do the logitech wireless remotes work on a Lightroom slideshow on a macbook pro?

I don’t know lightroom, but it works with pdf, keynote and power point, so I would think it does!

2. can I use RF and bluetooth simultaneously to control different laptops in one click ?

I haven’t tried that! – I just use this one, with my mac – and when students have presentations, and don’t have a clicker, I can easily connect it to their laptops, via bluetooth – I doubt that you can control more than one unit at a time

3. does it work with android tablets?

Don’t know. I only own Apple products.

4. is it possible to have two remotes connected to one computer?

Yes, we are doing that at our church. It works whether you use Bluetooth or the USB dongle. The pastor has a remote and the powerpoint operator has another.

Interesting question. To find out I paired it with my iPad Pro using Bluetooth, which worked smoothly. The main button works like a right arrow key and will have the same effect as hitting the right arrow key on a Bluetooth keyboard or the Apple Keyboard. In iBooks the buttons indeed flip through the pages. Whether it works in a pdf viewer will depend on the app’s support for left-arrow and right-arrow input.

Some of my presentations are given on 70″ flat panel screens rather than projector screens and laser pointers are worthless when you are trying to shine them on a TV screen.

I received this Spotlight remote last week and I’ve already had the chance to use it a couple of times. In a word, it is FANTASTIC. Easy to use and I love the way the controls can be customized via the software (such as what do you want to happen if you hold down the “next” button or the “previous” button and do you want the pointer to just “spotlight” or would you rather have it magnify or put a circle on the screen).

I also wanted to point out that there is another review on here which states this remote is not compatible with presentation mode in PowerPoint (where the presenter can see the current slide, the next slide, presentation notes and a timer on their laptop but the audience sees only the current slide on the projector). I have not encountered this problem. I ALWAYS use presentation mode with my laptop and this remote works just fine in presentation mode on my MacBook Pro so I am not sure if Logitech recently fixed the issue or if the other reviewer might have had something else going on with their computer that prevented this remote from working with PowerPoint..

Last summer I bought a Logitech Spotlight clicker. I was a little nervous about the purchase since I’d never spent that much on a presentation clicker before. After four weeks of use, I can say without a doubt that for someone who does a lot of presentations, it is worth every penny.

Pros:

No batteries required. You charge it via a USB cable. After four weeks of hard usage, it is still at 100%, it vibrates when the battery is low, it automatically turns off and on, and according to the instructions, you can give it a 3 hour charge by plugging it into your computer for 1 minute.

Error free clicking. Every clicker I’ve used before has occasionally double clicked or not clicked when I pushed the button. In over 50 presentations so far, it has not mis-clicked once. They claim the range is 100 feet and that seems to be the case. I’m using it with the dongle, and I’ve had to place it behind a curtain around a corner on a stage, and still worked fine. You can also connect it via Bluetooth.

Instant connectivity: I often have to use someone else’s computer for a presentation and have only a few minutes to get up and running. In the past, this has been an issue. This takes a minute or two to install the drivers, but is always working as soon as I need it. This is the case for both Macs and PCs, older laptops and newer.

Features: Holy moley! This thing has so many features. There are only 3 buttons (forward, back, and pointer) which makes it simple to use, and the forward button is bigger than the other two, which is great for my big fingers. But you can also customize the buttons. The pointer can be a cursor, a spotlight that darkens the rest of the screen while making a flashlight-like circle which moves as you move the clicker, or a magnifier. You can also customize what happens if you hold down the top or bottom buttons. I control the volume with one (moving the clicker up or down) and blank the screen with the other. There is a also a countdown timer you can set to vibrate when you are five minutes from ending time.

Cons:

It’s about $100, which isn’t cheap for a clicker.

In order to use spotlight and other custom buttons, you have to install software. Some of the PCs I had to use downloaded the software automatically, but on others, I lost those features for that presentation.

I’ve heard there is a lag on the pointer if the projector is hooked to the PC wirelessly. I seldom run into this, so not a concern for me.

There is no laser, so if you are using someone else’s PC and don’t have internet access to download the software, you do not have a pointer. This has been a minor issue for me at times.

All, in all, I am super satisfied and highly recommend it,.

It says it has a 3 hour battery life, I find that it actually lasts all day for me. I present from 9am to 5pm and it worked the whole day. Granted I do not overuse spotlight so that may be a reason my battery lasts a long time.

If you teach or present where you set your remote down, the Red one is the perfect color. it’s easy to find again unlike the black remotes that disappear and blend in.

Overall this is a fantastic prenter remote with programmable buttons and feedback for when you are close to the end of your presentation deck.

My biggest worry is if the color will wear off. It’s anodized aluminum so it may show wear spots after a year..

A. Holub says: “I do a *lot* of presentations, and have gone through many remotes. This one is the best. Works flawlessly on a Mac (I’ve a 2017 13” MacBook Pro Touchbar). The fact that it literally charges in one minute would, in and of itself, be enough. No more worries about batteries running out, and no need to cary around spares. Standard laser pointers don’t work on the large monitors that most of the companies I work with are now using instead of projectors. This remote solves the problem. You can flip back and forth between the highlight circle and crosshairs pointers with
a single button click (on the remote). I do wish that it displayed time remaining on the remote itself, but I’m happy to give that up in exchange for the battery life and quick charging..

Steve Brown says: “Looks great. Feels great in my hand. Easy-to-use. Boosts my confidence when I go out on stage. I’m a professional speaker, and so getting a new clicker for my talks was bizarrely one of the most exciting things I’ve done this year! 🙂 I chose this one because it has a good range (100ft/30m) which means it’ll work well if I’m presenting in a big ballroom and my laptop is at the back of the room with the A/V station, and I’m at the front of the room on a stage. The clicker looks good and feels nice in my hand.
Well-balanced, and just a nice finish on the metal. The buttons are simple and there’s no confusion with accidentally pressing the wrong button. No laser, but that’s ok because there’s an even better feature: Spotlight. Point your clicker at the screen, hit the “highlight” button, and the screen darkens just a little, save for a spotlighted area that you’re pointing to. It’s like magic. Really impressive tech, and it’s easy to set up and use. Love, love, LOVE it! I’d recommend this clicker to anyone. And I’ve used a lot of different types in my time. Unless you’re spending $900 on a professional Cue clicker system (which some big Venus have for their A/V teams) this is about the best you’ll get out there. Long range, reliable, beautifully-designed, ergonomic, simple to use, and with great features. And NO MORE BATTERIES! The clicker charges with an included USB cable. And if you get to a presentation and find it’s dead, you can charge it up enough in one minute for three hours of use. Terrific. Get one!.

t22s says: “Based on some of the reviews I was skeptical of the high cost. After 15+ presentations later I’m very impressed and would recommend this. Most of my presentations have been medium sized 25 or less audience in a normal size board room so I can’t speak to the range as much as some reviews have. The spotlight feature definitely catches people’s attention. I don’t always utilize it as in some presentations it takes away, but in the right situation it is awesome. The build quality of the device is very solid and in my usage the battery has been exceptional. There
were some complaints about the odd charging, but my phone is USB-C as well so i just use that charger. I would not recommend this to someone who uses different pcs for their presentations as the Logi software really completes this device and otherwise it is just a pricey clicker. However if you present frequently on your device, it is something I would highly recommend..

Eric says: “So I had been holding back on investing this much money in a clicker for a while, but finally decided to take the plunge as I needed it for work. What can I say? Logi has taken a tool that typically sees no innovation to the next level. It works flawlessly, the software is great, and the range is decent too. My only concern is that it’s a bit of a pain switching between spotlight, magnify, and pointer modes, as double-clicking causes each one to flash on the screen for an instant. This shouldn’t be necessary in my opinion but it
doesn’t really subtract from the fact that this clicker is still a decade ahead of all others..

I currently am a professional services consultant and a member of Toastmasters and I immediately knew the Logitech Spotlight could contribute to upping my presentation game. The presenter actually acts like a mouse pointer on your screen and you can actually click and interact with objects on the screen via a reticle that appears on the screen (a definite step-up from your run-of-the-mill laser pointer).

Pros to the Logitech Spotlight:
– Customizable reticle modes: zoom, customizable color reticle, reticle and dim background
– Charges via USB-C
– Pairs via Bluetooth or supplied dongle
– Programmable buttons (i.e. you can program one button to activate volume control when you gesture up/down, or play a media clip)
– Programmable buzz to alert you when a time interval elapses (perfect for timing your speeches)

Areas to improve:
– None really

Conclusion:
I’ve used this presenter with much success on client sites and at Toastmaster meetings. The various reticle modes are very useful and help the audience follow along easily. If you’ve only ever used laser pointers in your previous presentations or had to go back and forth to your laptop to move a cursor around or play a media file, you owe it to yourself to give the Logitech Spotlight a try — it’ll blow your mind..

Bob C. says: “So far, so good! I have been testing this feverishly for the past day- using two display screens with PowerPoint in presenter mode. No issues; One suggestion- if you are using extended display and presenter view then turn off “automatic cursor centering” in the advanced menu. That way if you are working from a projector or large display then the cursor will remain on the second display the whole time. “Auto Cursor Centering” means that after five minutes of inactivity the cursor will jump back to the laptop display and you may find it awkward to try and drag it back…

vnystrom says: “I do a lot of presentations for my college classes (in the tech area), and this item does the trick. I love the different modes you can use while presenting (spotlight, magnifier, and laser pointer)! A nice surprise is the ability to program the buttons to do what you want (I like to blank the screen when I want my class to pay attention to me). One small note (and it could be me): when I’ve used it on my home computer with a bluetooth keyboard, it seems to take over the keyboard. Again, that could be something I’m doing, but
it’s worth noting. Absolutely recommend it..

TOP 1000 REVIEWER says: “I have one of the “robotic” lasers that moves on it’s own. My cat hates it. The motions and the activity of the laser are eratic enough that the cat doesn’t follow the beam. Also, the simple robotic ones do not have a very bright light. This is well priced and gives a sharp and brilliant light that is go for almost 30 meters. The cat loves it.

Winemaker Todd says: “I’m adding a second review because I bought a second pointer/presenter. This laser pointer presenter works exactly as advertised. There was no setup, just plug the dongle into an open USB port and start pointing and presenting. The laser beam stays nice and tight, but I didn’t max out the range on the wireless presenter. When I wrote my first review I had only tested the presenter function out to about 45 feet, but since have had no problems reaching 70 feet. The screen blanking function is a nice touch, but I find I don’t use it as much as I
first thought I would. The dongle stores nicely in the presenter body, so it should be easy to keep track of. This is a nice presenter for the money..

Jason Guthrie says: “This item is very easy to setup and use as long as you have a standard USB port. Super simple and effective. The square edges are not as comfortable in the hand as if it had a round bottom but it is just fine. Like the flat top and comfortable buttons.

Richi says: “When the item first arrived I thought it looked a bit awkward since it doesn’t look like other conventional presentation clickers. However, after the first use I found it easy to use since my thumb only moves slightly to switch between the precious or the next slide. At the same time I found that using the bar to point, when using the laser, improves the accuracy to where I am pointing to. In summary, it was a great price while at the same time providing great functionality and dexterity.
