Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Why is this priced at $354? the msrp is $269.

Got mine this past month (10/17) at Bed, B &B. $269, and then used their 20% off coupon and got $53. off that price for $216.+tax.

2. How do the bake and roast functions differ – and how does the slow cook function differ from using bake or roast at a low temperature?

The Element IQ™ technology featured on all Breville Smart Ovens’ makes alterations to time and temperature to achieve a variety of results based on repeated results in our own test kitchens. Bake is a gentle approach towards target temperature, while roast is a more aggressive approach. The Slow Cook function enables a longer time and automated keep warm at a specified temperature for up to 10 hours. The Bake function has a much wider, less specific range of temperatures and is limited to two hours total cooking time without an automated Keep Warm activation.

3. Can you use aluminum foil in this oven?

The BOV845BSS Smart Oven Pro™ is very similar to a traditional home oven and therefore can be approached with similar expectations. Due to the quartz heating elements (two top, two bottom, with a shield though still partially exposed) and the size of the cavity, caution should be exercised when using foil to prevent direct contact with the top heating elements especially. Careful and thoughtful alignment of the foil, tightly wrapped to avoid any contact with the heating elements is certainly required and recommended.

4. Can a roasting temp probe be used?will the door then close? – I am also looking at the new Wolf toaster oven to compare the two;any info is welcomed

The BOV845BSS Smart Oven™ Pro and its predecessors which use the same Element IQ™ system that maintains a very accurate and specific temperature as indicated by the LCD once fully preheated. The only loss of temperature would occur from opening the door during the cooking process or not allowing the initial pre-heat to complete. Recommendations find a probe unnecessary, advice is simply to follow traditional roasting times and temperatures. Should it be necessary, keep in mind a reduction of temperature from opening the door and a requirement for needing some time to recalibrate to the indicated temperature selection. In terms of the door and probe, that would be within the realm of the operators judgment as too many variables exist on the market, though it is not something Breville has found necessary.

I have forced my mother onto a diet because her cardiologist wants to give her bariatric surgery before he decides if any surgical intervention is necessary on her heart. One of the biggest problems about cooking when you are single is that your oven is too big for little jobs. In my mother’s case, it also holds baking sheets, cooking pots, strainers, etc. Between lugging out all that stuff, heating the oven, the wait, it is a little inconvenient.

And obviously resorting to the microwave and convenience foods has hurt her. So I figured a small convection oven would be a good idea. It is convenient. It can handle a roast or a chicken. But it can also make a nice baked potato and roasted vegetables.

My mother refuses to read a manual. Giving her a new phone every couple of years requires my taking dangerous amounts of Xanax mixed with alcohol. Computer pop-ups notifying her of updates result in harried phone calls. Tablets, Rokus, Blu-Ray players … God help me. I wonder why I ever do it. (The obvious answer is so the neighbors cannot speak ill of me.)

But the set up on this is simple enough that even she can handle it. The first nob is for method, the second is for temperature, and the third is for time. Yes, there is a convection setting button and one for frozen foods. She even figured those out. But it is intuitive. She knows now not to have anything touching the walls of the unit. She knows that it is necessary to pull it from the wall when she wants to use it. She knows not to touch the sides unless it has cooled down.

What I am trying to say is that my mother, who was a government employee, can figure this thing out. It is great for cooking a one-pound pork tenderloin. It is great for baking a pork chop. In other words, it is great for a single cook. The window tells you what level to put the baking rack at. The bottom tray pulls out for easy cleaning. And because I read the manual, I was able to explain about not touching the elements when wiping down the inside, etc.

This is a great little device for the single cook. One of the hardest parts about making food for oneself is either portion size or that you have to make big food and be stuck with it all week if you don’t freeze it. This and a FoodSaver (which I also bought her) lets you buy a big roast and cut it down and vacuum seal it.

Couple things I have noticed:

1) People who show photos of blown-out wall outlets or burnt walls or ruined plugs didn’t read the manual. It clearly says that it should be four inches away from anything on all sides and six inches from anything above. This sucker gets hot. It is not insulated like a regular oven. Don’t put it in a hole for a microwave, even if you have heat sinks all about.

2) If the thermal fuse blows on your oven, it is actually a five-dollar part and there are ample YouTube videos on how to fix this. It is easy to get the OEM replacement. There is no reason to throw the oven away. I’d also argue those who have this problem may be leaving their oven too close to walls.

3) I don’t think convection saves a great deal of time. I cooked a one-pound pork tenderloin in there and followed the old rule about one-third less time at the same temperature. It didn’t really work. But if you let the oven cook and use the convection, it results in a nicely cooked outside. I wouldn’t say it is a sear, but it looks nicer than if one merely baked it.

4) This thing is great with frozen pizzas. It is auto-set for this and you just put it on the included pizza plate and let ‘er rip. The convection gives a nice, even cooking to it and it doesn’t come out all cracker dry and browned like in a conventional oven. Plus you don’t have to look in on it every two minutes to see if it is done. It is hard to find a sweet spot on frozen pizzas in a big oven. Probably because of uneven cooking.

I have not baked cookies or pastries in this oven so I don’t know how that goes, especially with convection. I have only cooked meats, vegetables, and potatoes. Vegetables roast so nicely. I attached a photo of some Brussels sprouts I recently did.

I think a single person or a couple will stop using their large oven if they get this. I am surprised that studio apartments don’t just provide one of these and an induction top to save space. I am looking to build a very small home and I plan on doing just that. This is a fantastic little oven, and if used properly will produce satisfying results.

Just read the manual. It is not as simple as just plugging in and making something. You do have to know how to use it..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. How is this better than the “breville® smart convection oven pro” for $269?

I have the Smart Oven Pro and just upgraded to the Smart Oven Air, and there are many improvements made to the Air over the pro.- The light now comes on and the timer pauses when you open the door- door can be left open an inch to four inches without slamming shut- Rotate remind to remind you to turn your pans half way through the cooking cycle- They’ve added a fan to cool the sensitive front display and control electronics to protect it from heat related failures- Convection fan has been redesigned for for even air flow around your food- 2 year warranty, while the Pro is warrantied for 1 year- 1 cubic foot of interior volume compared to .8 for the Pro- Fits standard quarter baking sheets and larger casserole dishes up to 16 inches wide while the Pro only fits pans no wider than 14 inches- 8 rack height positions instead of 3- Signal beep volume is now adjustable and can now be silenced if needed- Includes two racks instead of 1- They’ve added a dehydration feature- They’ve added a proofing feature for rising dough- They’ve added a super convection fan setting that boosts the fan speed for better crisping- This oven has one extra upper element making 6 elements total while the Pro has 5 elements, two lower and 3 upper- This oven has a mirrored ceiling and crumb tray providing improved heat deflection- The’ve added a customizable Phase Cook feature so you can run two cooking modes back to back- This oven has a silicone seal all around the door to help seal in the heat and moisture while the Pro has no seal- This oven toasts 9 slices of bread while the Pro does 6 slices- This oven has an Air Fry feature and includes an air frying basket while the Pro does not- This oven is louder than the Pro when the fans are runningSo not only is this oven physically larger than the Pro, it also has many new features and can replace several appliances in the Kitchen

2. 1. Does the interior have non-stick walls? 2. Any idea what the voltage is…does it require anything special?

Yes it does have non-stick walls. To clean use a soft, damp sponge with a non abrasive liquid cleaner. Pour on the sponge. Voltage is 110. Watts are 1800. They recommend operating the oven on a dedicated circuit separated from other appliances. Just a tip I bought an oven liner that u put in the bottom of a regular electric oven. Cut it done to the size that fits the tray that pulls out from the bottom of the breville. The tray that pulls out is not non-stick. Clean up is a breeze. This is my 2nd breville oven. I bought the 900 model because it is bigger and fits a 9×13 pans. Gave my son my smaller oven.I love this oven a lot. The light is great, air fry does frozen French fries to perfection. Easter I cooked a 10 lb ham. In my house it’s called “moms easy bake oven”. Just to separate between it and the regular oven.

3. what are the outside dimensions?

Dimensions: 17.2″ x 21.4″ x 12.8″ per Breville website.

4. What is the highest temperature setting for this new breville the smart oven air?

I verified with my oven thermometer that it does in fact reach 480F unlike some competitors that can be up to 25 degrees shy of the set temp. It took 25 minutes for the Smart Oven Air to reach 480F.

Breville Smart Oven Air

This week I’ve been testing the new Breville Smart Oven Air. It has exceeded my expectations in every way and so far I absolutely love it. Not only does this oven look great on the counter, it doesn’t take up too much space, and the versatility of this oven is amazing. And the new industrial design is timeless and will fit in with any style.

A true oven, I think people who bought the slightly smaller Smart Oven Pro like I did, found that it can actually replace their large oven for cooking a lot of items. This is really a true oven that can cook anything that your main oven can, even a 14lb turkey, but with more efficiency. The interior of this oven is huge, measuring 16 inches wide by 12 inches deep, and 7 inches high, giving you more room for tall loafs of bread or cooking roasts without grazing the top elements. There’s one extra element on top, making 6 quartz elements in total. The 8 rack positions offer a range of heights for cooking a variety of different sized foods, and will easily fit a large dutch oven.

The range of functions on this model makes it much more versatile than the Smart Oven Pro, now with 13 different modes. In addition to the 10 modes found on the Pro, the Air adds nifty features such as a proofing mode, giving you a proper way to rise dough for perfect baking results. They’ve also added a dehydration feature, letting you dehydrate a variety of foods such as fruit snacks or beef jerky, and lets you dehydrate up to four trays at a time. The new Super Convection mode boosts the fan speed enabling crisper results and faster cooking speed than ever before, and I’ve had nothing but good results so far.

Most interesting is the Air Frying mode. Not only does this eliminate the need for a separate appliance, this is a great way to cook frozen snack foods like fries and onion rings, evenly browning and crisping perfectly.

Baking in this oven is precise and yields consistent results. Cookies came out evenly browned all around. I roasted a chicken that came out amazing, using the new phase cook feature. Phase Cook allows you to set two back-to-back cooking functions, so you can for example quickly crisp and brown the outside of a roast and automatically switch to a lower, slower cooking method for the remainder of the time. This is one of my favourite features, and makes it possible to achieve incredible results with little effort. Also new, is a Rotate reminder, that alerts you half way through to turn the pan around for the best most even results. I really found that helpful, especially for times when I’m using two racks at once.

With all the baking and roasting this oven does, it’s easy to forget that it also functions as a 9 slice toaster! This oven puts heat exactly where it’s needed, providing the most even toasting I’ve seen. Bagels were browned on top while the bottoms remained soft and lightly toasted. And if you just finished toasting a bagel or making toast and the oven is still hot, the it’s smart enough to adjust the cooking time if you want to make more, so your toast is always the same colour whether you start with a cold or hot oven. A bagel took about 6 minutes with a cold oven, and when I wanted to toast another it took just over 3 minutes. This oven does take slightly longer to toast than the smart oven pro, but only about a minute longer.

Some of the negative reviews for the Smart Oven Pro were regarding the control panel failing… so they’ve added a cooling fan inside the Air’s control panel to keep the sensitive electronics safe from overheating and prolonging the life of the oven, and they’ve upped the warranty to two years instead of one. Although the fan is annoying, if it helps keep the oven working longer, I can live with it.

In our house, this oven gets used several times per day and it never let us down. But I could go on forever about this oven, so I’ll just list the things I liked and disliked the most.

Things I liked most about this oven:

-Light comes on when you open the door
-Timer pauses when door is opened
-Beeping sound level is adjustable and can be silenced completely
-Seal on door wraps all around to keep more heat in, increasing efficiency
-Oven Door stays open 1 to 4 inches without the need to prop it open
-the thick, high-quality racks
-Broiling feature works better than the Pro
-Auto-eject for the toast and air fry levels
-New magnetic rack-puller design
-New fan design moves more air
-Big, bright display is easy to read and interpret
-2 racks instead of one
-fits a 11lb roast turkey comfortably and gives amazing results
-Bakes two pies at once or two sheets of cookies, and reminds you to rotate half way
-Heats to within 10 degrees of set temperature
-Proofing feature is a huge convenience
-Phase Cook for combining two cooking cycles into one

Dislikes

-Convection Fan is incredibly loud especially in super mode
-Front panel fan is loud and comes on any time the oven is activated, even in toast mode where the fan isn’t really necessary.
-I wish oven light would stay on until I turn it off
-Takes longer to reach temperature, 20 minutes to reach 400F
-No recipe book – I wish there was a book of recipes designed for this specific oven that take advantage of the Phase Cook feature , dehydration and other features
-Rack edges rub on the glass in the 3rd or 4th rack position when opening and closing the door
-Oven Size may be a bit large for smaller tasks

Who’s it for?

I think this oven is for serious cooking, a bit overkill for a college student for example. It is really a real oven that can be used as a toaster oven. If you think you will need a second oven at times, this is a great option. Actually, this oven would make the ultimate wedding gift for newlyweds.

Recommended?

Yes! Although slightly on the pricey side, if you’re looking for a countertop oven that can replace your range and can double as a toaster, the versatility, the convenience and features of this model will exceed your expectations as it did mine. With all the performance and capability of a large range oven, you’ll absolutely love the top-of-the-line smart oven Air.

I got my Joule 3 weeks ago, and I am compelled to write this. On the day it arrived, and anxious to try the new toy, I scavenged the freezer and came up with a rather sad, most likely somewhat freezer-burnt pair of boneless, skinless chicken breasts. I religiously buy meat fresh from the butcher, so these had been sitting there so long I did not remember when. They were in a ziplock, not vacuum sealed, so I did not expect much. What the heck I just want to experiment. I grabbed the 6qt stainless liner from my Instant Pot, filled it with hot tap water, clipped the Joule on the side and plugged it in. I had already loaded the app on my phone, so I followed the tutorial and got Joule renamed and running on my WiFi. It had me do a control test and heat some water from the phone, worked great and quite fast. I then selected the app’s Guide (their term for recipe) for chicken breast and followed the steps. I selected the “juicy” temp setting of 149°F, looking at the visual doneness videos to choose. I described the breast to the app as frozen and about 1.5 inches, and from that info the app chose the cooking time, and Joule began to heat the water. A few minutes later, my phone notified me the Joule pot was up to temp, and I could put the food in to cook. Since this was an experiment, I took one rock hard frozen breast, dropped it into a 1 gal Ziploc freezer bag, and dumped in some Kosher salt, fresh ground pepper and olive oil. I then slid it into the pot, evacuating the air from the bag by submersion, and zipped it shut. I took the other breast, and left it to thaw, so I could try other things like pounding it to equal thickness, and trimming to shape before cooking. I then left the kitchen and Joule to hopefully do something impressive.
My phone alerted me that Joule was done, and also that I could leave it for up to 2 more hours without over cooking. I got back to the kitchen and set my trusty cast iron skillet on to preheat for searing. I waited for my smoking hot pan, threw some olive oil in there, and opened the Ziploc, fresh out of the Joule. I patted the breast dry, seasoned, dusted with flour, and pressed it into the hot pan. I gave it about 2 minutes, and I had a great crisp brown crust. I transferred it to the cutting board and made a half-dozen bias slices. I noted almost no juice loss from cutting, but when I picked up a slice in my fingers, it was soft and a slight squeeze produced glistening juice. I popped it in my mouth and was treated to an exceptional mouthfeel of soft juicy chicken and crisp skin. Literally amazing…I enlisted 3 more family members to taste and they were all completely impressed at how perfectly this was prepared. My son put it best, he said, “I would be impressed if I tasted this at a fine dining restaurant, to taste it in our kitchen with you experimenting with a new toy you have no experience with…just crazy good.”
Since then I have cooked probably 20 sous vide meals, my favorite was a dinner party for 4 using Chefsteps Filet Mignon guide with broccoli puree and radicchio salad stack. Plated with puree, then salad, and topped with the meat, cutting down through it all for one great bite is astounding! Puree is silky smooth, flavored with English cheddar, the shredded salad is balsamic, oil and dijon with fresh chives and blue cheese microplaned frozen into perfect flakes of flavor. The sous vide method IMO is the optimum method to do justice to a fine filet, finished with a roaring hot cast iron pan sear in butter and fresh herbs. My guests raved and I just can’t see the point of going to a spendy steakhouse when I can guarantee these repeatable results with sous vide.
Probably the most impressive thing I have done so far is cook a 3lb, 2in. thick chuck steak for 48 hours sous vide. I finished it with a sear like the filet, and this cheap chunk of $5@lb meat had a mouthfeel like $45@lb tenderloin, plus a superior beefy taste tenderloin would never have. Understand, the chuck looked red and juicy, not grey like pot roast or beef stew. I may buy a second Joule just for long cooks like this…
In conclusion, after 40 years of gourmet cooking, and an extensive knowledge of food chemistry and techniques, literally thousands spent on training, all manner of gadgets to major high-end appliances, I have found something that I am really excited about. I can legitimately say that cooking a protein by any other method will probably not be as good, and absolutely not as reliably consistent. I love the fact that instead of fretting over expensive meats using high heat methods, then having to let them rest, etc.; you can let Joule go past the done time by a couple of hours with no ill effects. It is just holding the meat at a consistent finished temp of say 129°F, waiting for you to finish by a quick sear and serve. Sous vide steak does not need to rest because it is already at temperature equilibrium, and its juices have not migrated…they have remained in place and keeping every morsel equally and perfectly juicy. You have to try this, the results speak for themselves.

OK, I will go so far as to say if you are not cooking sous vide, you are not getting all the goodness you paid for in your food…and constantly putting your food at risk of cooking errors by traditional high heat methods. Plus, it is difficult if not impossible to duplicate the exquisite mouthfeel of sous vide. Remember this technique was invented in France in the 70s, initially to cook foie gras with less waste. It resulted in a 20% savings and a much higher profit for the restaurant, given the Rolls Royce pricing of foie gras. French cooking has always been about an obsession with perfection…sous vide cooking is exactly that.

One other thing, I have read a number of comments with people concerned about cooking in plastic. My reaction is the sous vide results are so good, I would consider the risk for myself and my family mitigated. There is currently no documented hard corollary between cooking in BPA-free food safe plastic bags and direct health risks…UNLIKE the direct connection that charring food, especially meat, is carcinogenic. Now beyond government regulation, food purity and safety is always a personal choice…For me, I’ll chance my black grill marks and crisp corners…and I demand the thrill of eating sous vide..

Donald M Finlayson says: “It is good looking, easy to clean, has a light and the rack comes out when you open the door. Like any new oven it takes some experimenting to get used to all the options. I use a 8×8 baking pan because it is ½ the volume of a 9×13 pan so just halve any recipe. I found a 3 ½ qt. Dutch oven that fits in it with the lid on, it has the same volume as a 9×13 pan. It toasts well but takes some testing to find the right setting.

The temperature control seems good. The result of baking at a given temperature seems to be about the same as with our gas oven at the same given temperature.

The physical size is good for our limited counter space. Since the other convection air Breville toaster ovens are larger, this is an added plus.

After a month of use, toast is working better. Although there are still large grill marks on the bottom of the bread, both top and bottom are now about equally toasted..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. convection oven and toaster oven?

No. $145+ Is not enough for Breville tooffer a convection oven. They want $100 more to provide a crappy little fan that’s going to stop working in a year or two. And to correct some of the design flaws that have plagued previous models, Breville wants us to pay $400 for the new and improved model. How about discontinuing this model, fixing your design flaws, and selling the new model for the same price? Yeah, I thought so!

2. Is the 15.5 width include the handle or is that just the oven?

The width includes the handle only from the outside of the unit when measuring. Inside the over, the oven width space is 11.5 and 12.5 (with oval distance inside the oven)
Never had more fun using this oven than any before. Gives the feeling you,re preparing goods high end modern kitchen with all the bells and whistles.

3. does it come with a broilin pn?

Yes the oven came with a broilin pn

4. What are interior deminesions?

The interior dimensions are 5″ high, without the rack or baking pan in the baking slot. However, you need to insert the rack (There are 3 slots for the rack, each 1″ apart; 1-bake; 1-toast; 1-broil) With the rack in the baking slot position you have 4-1/2″ of height. With the baking pan inserted your height is 3-1/2″. Those are absolute max heights. I would allow about 1/2″ extra space. Width is 12″ and the depth of the oven is 10″. Hope this helps. Unfortunately, Breville’s website doesn’t give these critical dimensions. We use ours for defrosting frozen chicken, reheating pizza, toast. Never tried to do anything fancy, for which we have Viking Professional oven and stove top.

Actually, with this unit, we use our regular oven less and less. I like the way this unit cooks but I really like the way it reheats food. Where a Microwave will warm food much faster, it also tends to make some meats “rubbery”. Not the Breville toaster oven, it warms the food through uniformly and doesn’t “change it” the microwaves can. This oven is also very good for crisping things like french fries, breads, etc. Whether its as simple as heating up my wife’s daily raspberry Pop tarts or baking cookies or making bread, this oven has done it all. Very good for pizza’s as well……..

We have cooked a wide range of items in this oven and it’s used at least once everyday. Does my two years of use change my rating of this unit? No, I still rate it very highly and we are very happy with this toaster oven. We have even bought others this same toaster oven as a gift and they have indicated they are pleased with it.
——————————————————————————————————————————————- ordered this as a surprise for my wife. Her last toaster oven recently went to the appliance yard in the sky and she had mentioned that she wanted another toaster oven, but not a cheapie that are sold at the local stores.

After research, I found this Breville Compact Smart Oven and ordered it as a surprise for my wife. Imagine her surprise when it arrived, only to be immediately followed by disappointment that there was damage to the shipping box and it transferred to damage to the oven right in the center of the rear and top of the oven. I contacted Amazon immediately and they shipped a replacement which we had in just a few days. I returned the damaged oven the same day i received it. The return process couldn’t have been easier.

My wife is very pleased with this oven’s consistency and it’s ease of use. It’s also a very good looking appliance. We were in Best Buy recently and they had the same oven at a price $90 higher than what I paid Amazon.

Check out the plug on the cord, another indication that Breville is paying attention to how their product is actually used. Impressive.

The oven is well made, is an attractive appliance and has the look, feel and function of a quality appliance. We have now used it for about a month and my wife uses it now instead of the big oven for many meals. This is one of those purchases which I looked forward to receiving and am now glad I spent the money. This is heads and shoulders above a Black and Decker or other similar low price point toaster oven. The size is also perfect to be left out on the counter in the corner where my wife wanted it kept.

If I could, I would give this 6 stars. Well, in a way, I guess I can ******……

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can I fry fish in it? Tilapia

Absolutely. I make Panko breaded haddock in the air fryer and my family agrees it is the best we’ve ever had. Moist on the inside, crispy on the outside, and no grease. Better than restaurant fish fry.

2. About the dimensions: I have an 18-inch width of counter space for a new oven. I’m not sure which dimensions apply to height, width, and depth. Help!

There is a smaller one that is 15.5 wide, 12.5 deep and 11.5 high. For the one you are asking about the 16 is the width and the 15.5 is the depth. I found this info on the Cuisinart website.

3. Does this get really hot around the oven? I’m worried about my cabinets, especially since this be on the countertop with cabinets above it.

I’ve used mine for about 2 1/2 years 2 or 3 times a week. My backsplash is just 1980s style formica and I have it pushed back to the stops on the oven. I pull it out once a week to clean and have not seen any damage. I assume it can get hot just keep an eye on it until you figure it out. Also I never depend on the temp being what it’s set on, most things I fry or bake are at 225 to 300 degrees and have developed quite good skills on this thing

4. What is electric voltage input. Will it work on 220-240voltage.

120 volt input only US two blade style.

Dave says: “I had reservations about buying this unit because of the venomous 1-star reviews. After using this unit for a few weeks I have to assume that there were either a large number of defective products sent out (quite unusual for Cuisinart), or that some people have unrealistic expectations of a toaster oven/air fryer. Disclaimer: I’ve always had toaster ovens as a kitchen accessory and have had to learn each one of their quirks. This one has fewer than many I’ve owned. That said, it cooks fast. Very fast. Where with my previous one you had to bump the temp about 25

Disclaimer: I’ve always had toaster ovens as a kitchen accessory and have had to learn each one of their quirks. This one has fewer than many I’ve owned. That said, it cooks fast. Very fast. Where with my previous one you had to bump the temp about 25 degrees more than you thought needed and could walk away from it, this one cooks in much less than the time expected and you need to watch it carefully. That should change as we learn how it performs. It seems best to fade back a bit from the recommended times and temps in their manual and recipe book. This thing is powerful.

My favorite dish so far is chicken wing drumettes. I’ve always cooked my famous buffalo wings in a peanut oil deep-fryer, then dip them in sauce and dry them for a bit in the oven. Set this at 400 on air-fry, cook for 10 minutes, flip them over and cook for 10 more and they honestly look like I just pulled them out of my fryer. My wife swears they are even better. Traitor!

Garlic toast and English muffins seem to crisp up faster and retain inside moistness better than any toaster oven I’ve ever used. Frozen french fries and shrimp are a breeze. Tonight she did some fresh zucchini wedges that I was sure were going to be boring and they turned out awesome.

Long story short, we love it so far and look forward to experimenting with it for years to come. We’ve had great luck with Cuisinart appliances over the years and in the few times we had problems with them, their customer service people have bent over backwards to help us and always treated us fairly.

Love it and if it blew up tomorrow, I’d buy it again..

Yes I ve done it using the 13 x 9 pan that replaces the rack. The pan is deep enough to roast a chicken with veggies

4. Can you bake a loaf of bread in it?

As long as the oven will meet and hold the heat temp you require for your bread through the baking process, you can bake bread in it.It may be affected by the size of the oven and the size of the loaf you wish to make. Also, please remember that you should NEVER bake bread or any other baked good using the “convection oven” feature.Baked goods require a set and even temp for specific periods of time.Convection ovens use air circulation to lower humidity, decrease cooking times and energy requirements.

  • Fits up to a 12″ family sized pizza

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Besides baking pizza, can bread be toast in this oven?

Now that I have been using the Black & Decker Pizza oven for a few months I have to say I don’t recommend backing anything other than pizza. The inside is not very big and since the oven gets so hot, burning is a problem. It also tends to cook uneven, I have had some disastrous results trying to cook cookies and bread.

2. Can I cook chicken wings (not frozen) in this oven? Looking to make very crispy wings quickly and conveniently.

I have cooked chicken wings in this oven a couple of times.I have only tried them with the bake setting, which really would not save you time. The only reason to use this oven on the bake setting in my case is that I live in Florida and attempt to limit my A/C usage as using a standard oven heats up your kitchen quickly.AS far as making them , use a dry rub to season your wings and use the bake setting for the first 30 minutes. After this, you can use this time to add sauce (wet rub), if you want. Then cook for 10-15 minutes more at the bake setting, depending on crispiness of chicken skin.I will say that this oven does cook unevenly, so do make sure you are aware of that. The negative of the oven is if you don’t use a shallow pan on top of the plate provided, the grease may spill throughout the oven.

3. how hot does this oven get?

When I measured with a laser thermometer, the hottest was about 600 degrees f.

4. what is voltage?

Standard 110 volt.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Wisneaky says: “So here is the thing I bought this from Amazon Warehouse deals. The item was supposed to have a scratch on the back, but really one of the feet were bent and I am okay with that. The item was unused with all the packaging and tape still in place. I paid $55 for this item. Honestly I wouldn’t pay more than that for it. The 5 minute pizza oven is awesome. Pure awesome. I can cook a tombstone pizza is 6 minutes flat, not 5, but 6 and it comes out perfect. There is a bunch of setting. Apparently the
top 3 are all 600 plus degrees and the bottom ones are 350 degrees. Realistically the regular thin crust setting is 600 degrees and the rising crust I got around 400 because the top element turns off. Actually it cooks better on the rising crust setting, but expect it to take twice as long. Also I baked a round circle cake in it for 10 minutes and it came out perfectly done. So here is some things I wish they would correct if they keep making this oven. First put some sides on the pizza pan rack to hold stuff on it because the ceramic is way way way too slippery and food tends to slide right off. Second I wish it came with some sort of silicone baking make to help with slippery food like chicken wings. One more thing I wish it was a little bigger to hold bigger pizzas and also taller to hold bigger items in it. Overall great item when the price is right..
