1. BELSIZE 16-Inch Belt-Drive Kid’s Bike, Lightweight Aluminium Alloy Bicycle (only 12.57

  • Safety is the Top Of Our Concern: Comes with dual front hand V-brakes for kids to learn how to stop easily. Besides, the hand brakes could be adjusted to fit younger kids. Seat height can be adjusted from 18” To 22”, fits ages 3 to 7 years old kids.
  • No Worry about Assembly: 96% of the bike is assembled before packaging and comes with all kinds of accessories and tools needed. Without any hassle, you just need to spend few minutes to complete 5 steps to get the assembly done.
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. If the belt is broken, what replacements are available?

The belt isn’t going to break, but the belt is made by continentaltire.com a major international tire/rubber company. A replacement belt can be ordered without issue.

2. Compared to the traditional chain drive, what are the advantages of the belt drive?

Hello, if you worry about your kid making selves dirty while riding a bike, then the belt drive bike should be the top pick, and belt drive also features low noise and improved durability.

3. What is the final assembled (with all components installed) weight of this bike? There are several different weights listed in the description.

About 13 pounds.

4. Is the gear ratio really 46:22? Much taller than other 16” bikes. What is the crank length?

I didn’t see that gear ratio anywhere so I’m not familiar with that number. I’ve seen gear ratio advertised for other bicycles but I can tell you that the cranks and pedaling on this bike are smooth and quiet. Bicycle geometry is relatively low profile so not ‘tall’.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Michael says: “After purchasing this bike I can confidently say this is the best value, 16 inch, premium bicycle available on the market. I researched bicycles for my four and a half year old extensively and I try to submit a review for any product that I believe is truly a quality product. That said, when I stumble across an excellent product, I try to communicate such so as to ensure that the value is recognized and so that more expansive products will hopefully follow suit and come to market from that company as a result of the recognition. To this point, after
extensive research, this bike came into play because of having hand brakes (no coaster brake), light weight, belt drive, high quality components, great geometry and overall value considering the aforementioned.

Before getting into details about the bike, let me me first say that I’m submitting this review about six hours after receiving the bicycle earlier today. Not only is the bike solidly built and phenomenal looking in person but my son who had been riding a balance bicycle rode this bicycle without my help on the first day. I received this bicycle from Amazon two days earlier than initially expected on April 14, 2020 at about 10:00AM Eastern time and my son was riding on his own just after 12:00 in the afternoon. To say that it blew me away is an understatement!!! Needless to say, he doesn’t want to stop riding and I attribute that a great deal to the excellent geometry, solid components, lightweight frame (and killer looks) of this bicycle.

First, this bike has adjustable, hand brakes as opposed to coaster brakes. Many of the less expensive department store bicycles have a coaster and in fact coaster brakes are what many of us learned to ride with. However, with product research and product evolutions, have come better ways to do things. One example of this is the advent of balance bikes (as an alternative to training wheels) as a precursor to riding a bicycle. As mentioned, seeing was believing today because my son got on this bicycle and rode within fifteen to twenty minutes of pushing himself along (as he did with his balance bike). I am planning to post a video. As such, hand brakes for children, as opposed to coaster brakes, have become a most desirable way of braking due to their strong braking power on both front and rear wheel whereas coaster brakes only brake on the rear wheel. Also, the absence of the coaster brake on the crankset, results in children not stopping suddenly if they should pedal backward accidentally (which children often tend to do when learning to ride a bicycle without training wheels – their reflexes cause them to pedal backward when they are trying to ride and balance the bike and this causes them to stop and fall off the bike). Lastly, with coaster brakes, you cannot freely move the pedals backward so it’s harder for a child to get the pedals in the 2 o’clock and 8 o’clock position when they are trying to start off riding and want one of the pedals in the up position. In short, hand brakes make it easier for them to rotate the pedals and step and go. As mentioned initially, it’s important to note that some hand brakes are not adjustable but adjustable hand brakes are all the more imperative for a child’s hand because it allows you to dial in the right reach to ensure that your child’s hand can grasp the brake lever according to their hand size – super important. The Belsize has adjustable hand brakes which is a premium feature and absolutely necessary.

Secondly, this bike is about 13 pounds. Weight is extremely important for younger riders particularly when training wheels come off. Most department store bikes are in the 21-25 pound range which essentially means that if you have a little one who is say, 40 pounds, for example, they would be trying to hold up half their weight, or more, when trying to ride a typical 16 inch department store bicycle of 21 plus pounds. To put it differently, for adults that ride bikes, it’s like a 180 pound adult holding up a 90 pound bike but in fact, even worse for a child because a young child’s strength isn’t proportional to their weight at such a young age. Therefore, 20 plus pounds is heavy particularly when they’re trying to learn something like getting on and off a bicycle. A heavy bike simply results in the experience being less fun and like anything else, they won’t use the bicycle as often due to getting tired and frustrated. That said, the Belsize 16 is lighter than most of the premium name bicycles that are out there and in fact, I only found ONE other comparable, premium bicycle out there that was as light or lighter and that well known kid’s bike manufacturer (that begins with a “W”) weighs in at just under 12 pounds and retails for just under $400 but DOES NOT have a belt drive. (As an aside, I like the geometry on the Belsize bicycle much better than the previously mentioned bike.) That alone makes the Belsize 16 a superior value.

Thirdly, as mentioned above, this bicycle has a belt drive which is a more costly and longer lasting drive system than the conventional chain drives that bikes have been made with for years. Belt drives are a new innovation and they’ve gained in popularity in kids bikes and adult bikes, alike. The belt drive is known for it’s ease of maintenance and clean attributes because it doesn’t need to be oiled, cleaned or adjusted like a bicycle chain. Also, unlike chains that needs maintenance, a rubber belt is ready to ride and lasts many times longer than a bicycle chain. Not only is it maintenance free and lasts longer but it is arguably a smoother ride because a belt doesn’t have the tendency to skip or come off the cranks like a chain will. No dirty greasy chain and longer lasting means a superior value and a safer drive system that your child is less likely to get hurt with. I should also note that the photo of the bicycle in this ad does not show this but this bicycle DOES come with a belt guard (aka. chain guard) that can go over the belt drive to protect a little one from getting a shoe lace caught, etc… I didn’t install mine but the fact that this comes with one is an outstanding, extra safety feature and affirms that this bicycle is really phenomenal for a first time rider.

Finally, the overall components on this bicycle ranging from the Tektro adjustable hand brakes to the Kenda tires are premium components. The bike’s light, aluminum frame, very smooth and quiet belt drive and aforementioned adjustable hand brakes are attributes associated with premium bikes that sell for $300-$400 and that makes this Belsize a tremendous value. In my view, this is clearly the best value kids bicycle available, bar none. I should also note that the bicycle comes with a manual for putting it together and it is quite easy to assemble as it really just requires putting the handlebar, front wheel, pedals and seat on. Not difficult at all. I should note that before purchasing, I had questions about the bicycle and A11N Sports Company who manufactures/sells the bicycle was extremely receptive and prompt in answering my questions. It gave me even further confidence in the quality of the product because the company selling the bike followed up, answered my questions and demonstrated excellent customer service. I can’t say enough about this bicycle as my four year old is already up and riding on the same day it’s received and he LOVES the bike!!.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

serolfcire says: “my first one came damaged directly from Diamond Back – A huge gash in the bottom. The instructional video url that was in the manual was wrong- the phone number in the manual was wrong. I called Diamond Back and they laughed that I bought an old bike from Amazon. Its not an old bike – its the 2017 model – but the rude Diamondback employee made me ask for a manager. They sent me a free one and I returned the damaged one to Amazon! So what was negative became a positive. But Diamondback is too proud of their product
and they need to come back to earth a little bit.

The bike is awesome. Great quality! You feel invincible riding it. You have to get used to pressing the gear levers all the way for a proper a smooth shift. I recommend getting it and hope that you never have to call Diamondback – the phone number they print is wrong so you will have to google it to get the right number.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Why its not available as prime?

Thanks for your inquiry. This product is now fulfilled by a fulfillment center instead of AMAZON. However, we’re considering to use FBA( fulfillment by Amazon), the prime rights will be available soon.

2. 41″ tall which size bike

My 5 year old is 42 in and we went with the 14 in. Which was perfect. With the seat in the lowest setting she is still about 1/2 an inch from having her feet flat on the ground. She should be able to ride the 14 in for another 2 years I’d say. It’s tempting to go with the larger size since they can use it longer, but a bigger/heavier bike is more difficult to learn to ride on if your kid is still learning to ride w/o training wheels. Im very happy I went with the 14 in

3. Is the RoyalBaby writing on the bikeframe removable? I don’t think my reading kid will want to ride on a bike for babies.

No.Definitely part of the bike I bought and not able to be removed.See 3-star review from 6/25/16 for pictures.

I bought this bike for my 5-yr old as his first “big kid” bike. However, I probably wouldn’t have, had I known it had the word “Baby” written all over it. To be fair, the company name is “Royal Baby” but I had no idea it would be plastered with so many instances of the word. The tire tread, for example, is made with the words “Royal Baby” over and over again. It is also on the handle bars, pedals, and a couple other spots (see picture).

4. Hi, I want to buy this bike for my soon-to-be 4 year old. But I am not sure which size. My son is 42 inches. Should I go with the 14 or the 16 inch?

Measuring your child’s inseam is the best way to find the right bike size. The correct frame size is the only way to ensure that your child reaches the floor safely and easily with both feet at the lowest saddle height.

Inseam length (Inch) Inseam length (cm) Wheel size
12”-14″ 85-90 cm 10 inches
14”-17″ 35-42 cm 12 inches
16″-20″ 40-50 cm 14 inches
18″-22″ 45-55 cm 16 inches
20″-24″ 50-60 cm 18 inches
22″-25″ 55-63 cm 20 inches

Back in college, I used to work in a bike shop that sold low-mid price bicycles. I spent a lot of time assembling and repairing them. Lots of times, lower-end bikes had lots of issues: bent parts, untrue wheels, misaligned brakes, etc. I had never heard of the Royal Baby brand before, but after reading other reviews, I decided to get one for my eight year old son. Of course, when it arrived, I gave it my usual thorough walkthrough. Initially, I noticed that the parts seemed to be good quality. Welds were solid and the finish was perfect.

Assembly was just like any other bicycle: pedals, handlebars, seat, accessories. All parts lined up perfectly on the first try. No fighting, no twisting and pulling, none of that. It also comes with some cheap tools to help with assembly, so you don’t have to worry about finding a pedal wrench, or the right size metric allen. Once together, I started to look at the mechanics. Tires were very true. There was no noticeable wobble to them, which was abnormal for bikes in the $100-150 range. The brakes were adjusted perfectly. They were centered on the rim and had the perfect amount of pull.

Overall, it seems like a quality bike for the price and I am pleased with the purchase..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Are the wheels/ rims on this bike tubeless ready?

No

2. Does the seat lower all the way to the clamp

Yes but if you mount the reflector there the bracket will reduce that by 1”.

3. I’m 5’10 is this bike appropriate for me ?

The bike frame size is 17″. We would recommend going to a local bike shop to get sized, or at least stand over a couple of bikes to get an idea of what size you will need. It is a good idea to go to a local bike shop and get measured if you do not know your size already.

4. Will a 4 5 6 mm Allen Key remove contacts to install bottle holder?

Yes
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

William C. says: “I waited to write a review until I got some rides in on different trails. My rides are usually about 20 miles, on both paved trails and single tracks. Keep in mind my only comparison is the GT Outpost that I have been riding for almost 20 years. WOW, what a difference! This bike is so much smoother and rolls so much better!!! Weight is about the same for a bigger bike. The shifters have been working well, though I have to be careful when on the smaller end of the rear gear, the chain wants to skip or jump under
load and bumps. I assembled it myself, maybe taking it in for a tuneup will fix that. I did change the grips and seat, relatively inexpensive upgrades. I have to say I am very happy with this bike. I looked around quite a bit and there is not much out there with these features and this price range. Hopefully this bike will last as long as the GT did!.

Ty says: “I’m not a real big review writer, but I felt the need to write this review for the bigger folks out there who are trying to decide if this bike is good for them. I’m not a real big review writer, but I felt the need to write this review for the bigger folks out there who are trying to decide if this bike is good for them.

To start, I’m like alot of people, who hasn’t ridden a bike in years, but wants to start getting out there to get some form of exercise. I have very bad knees and walking for miles, tears up my joints, so I wanted something with less impact on my body.

I also knew that I didn’t want some box store run of the mill bike that wouldn’t last (again I’m a big guy) but also knew, I didn’t need a $3000 carbon bike, with full suspension either. So that brought me to Amazon.

I live in the middle of nowhere, and don’t have any bike shop close to try bikes and have one tuned and all that, so I had to kinda wing it. Trying to find a bike in extra large, for a guy who is 6’4″, and weighs right at 270 lbs, proved to be a bit of a headache. I got caught up in all the specs, and being right on the cusp of the weight limit of so many bikes, had me hesitant to say the least. Logic then kicked in, and I started looking at what I’m really after in a bike. The answer is, to be able to get out with minimal impact on my knees, so both me and my dogs can get exercise. I’m not jumping, downhilling, or even trail riding. I’m literally riding around town on gravel roads.

So that made me realize, alot of the cautions, and prerequisite’s didn’t really pertain to me. I would maybe worry about the weight limit, if you are going to launch this thing down mountain sides or try to jump huge jumps, or anything like that. If you are not, this bike will be perfect! It very well may do all that stuff as well, I don’t know. I just know what it will do as I’ve experienced.

If these bikes are supposed to be tuned, by a professional, they must do a pretty dang good job at the factory, because I literally assembled it, rode it and have had zero issues.

All you have to do, is install the front wheel, handlebars, seat tube, and in my case, a new seat. The original seat is not good for a big person. I got one of those plush gel seats off Amazon, and man it made a HUGE difference.

This bike rolls great! I’ve never ridden a bike that is so smooth! I got on and peddled a couple rotations and could not believe the ease at which this thing got going. I was in second gear up front and 3rd out back. The range of gears this thing has is absolutely amazing! 24 in total! Thankfully the brakes are equally as impressive, because I was a bit jerky at slow speeds and turning at first, since I’m not used to the large 29 inch tires. The larger tires really do make this bike ride over rocks and dips and bumps with ease. I’ve also never ridden a bike with a front shock before, so that was pretty impressive as well!

I know this review wasn’t a whole lot about the bike, but instead about the type of person I am, and riding style I will be using it for, to maybe help alleviate any concerns another big person may have, if they are looking at this bike. I’ve ridden about 25 miles already, in 2 days, just trying to get a feel for this bike and could not be happier! I have ZERO regrets purchasing this bike and if I ever need or want another bike, I’ll probably look at this company again..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I’m 5.8″ tall. Is this bike ok for me?

Do your legs not fit right on the pedal? I have a 29″ inseam (which is short, I know.) I had a trex road bike for racing and is the same size as this bike. I fit that
bike like a glove so is it the legs causing problems ? be more specific

2. 5.3 inches tall what size bike

Not this bike. You need a small frame (15-16 inches) and smaller wheels.

3. What is the weight of the bike? Not the shipping weight though.

The bike itself is 32 pounds.

4. What height person is this bike for? it says 16″small frame size in description, but someone else mentioned it is 28″ so I am confused.

You’re right, bike jargon can be a bit confusing at first. The hybrid tire is 700c (metric) which converts roughly to 28″ in diameter. 16″ is the frame size (the measurement from the seat post to the bottom bracket). Another helpful measurement is the standover height (30″). You can view a photo image of this standover height by clicking on the last photo on left side of the bike. Hope this helps.

If you are handy and you feel confident in your basic tool skills (along with an ability and patience to follow assembly instructions…not just look at the pictures) then this project is very doable for you. Take your time assembling the bike…your safety depends on it. This bike was available at a local Big-Box store for slightly more money, but after seeing the lack of care and quality of the bikes thrown together by the store associates, I decided to do it myself. Total assembly time was approximately 45 minutes.

The bike was delivered in a box that was somewhat beat-up in transit. However, the bike itself was so well packed that there were no damage issues. Styrofoam packing and wrap, zip ties, plastic hub and rim protectors and bubble wrap kept everything well protected and unscratched.

The front fork is delivered in a reversed position. Pay close attention to instructional/descriptive stickers on the fork, cranks and pedals. Spin the fork around and tighten the two hex screws once it is properly aligned.

The handlebars are fairly straight-forward. If the cables appear to be tangled or crossed, try a different orientation of the bar. It is useful to know that the Right side of the handlebar controls rear breaks and rear derailleur (Right = Rear) and the left side of the handlebar controls front break and front derailleur (Left = Front).

I’ve seen comments regarding flat tires and broken chains. Fill the tires slowly, check the bead to insure the inner-tube is not pinched against the rim before you inflate to the proper psi listed on the side of the tire. Chains should last for several hundred miles with proper maintenance and care. Check for any snags or issues before your first ride. Make sure the chain is properly oiled (the factory installed chain may have a coating to protect against rust and not necessarily lubricated). Also, do some research on cross chaining…it may add years to your chain’s life.

The pedals need to be matched to the correct crank. Begin to thread by hand (Right pedal = clockwise and Left pedal = counter clockwise). Complete tightening with 15mm wrench. A mismatched pedal means stripped threads and pedals falling off.

No tuning of this bike was needed. Gears and breaks worked as they should.

I found it very helpful to watch the a Schwinn assembly video in conjunction with the instructions in the Schwinn owners manual.

Comfort: I gave the Schwinn GTX 2 four stars because of the limited ability to move the seat fore and aft. The position of the seat will not allow me to get the correct fit (for knees over the crank) so I will have to find another seat. I am upgrading from a mountain bike, so, in comparison, the GTX is an improvement in comfort.

Light weight: Again, I’m giving the GTX 2, five stars because it is lighter than a mountain bike. I’m not a pro competition rider so the weight of the bike (+or- 10 lbs) wasn’t that important to me.

Overall, the Schwinn GTX 2 is a nice bike for the price. Hope this helps..

It went together very easily, but did need rerouting of the cables which could not be completely untangled as well as some minor tuning. I also replaced the skinny rock hard seat with a super comfortable TONBUX seat that almost matches the color perfectly (best $20 I ever spent!). It rides like a dream on the rough dirt and rocky mountain roads near my house, the full suspension and big 29″ tires really soak in the bumps, very smooth. I am very pleased with the overall performance of the bike so far, it shifts very quickly up and down and the disk brakes are strong. I am 5’9″ tall / 185 lbs. and the bike has plenty of seat adjustment left, I would say it will handle up to a 6’2″ rider, but not much shorter than 5’8″ comfortably. I would highly recommend this bike to anyone that is NOT interested in hard core wide open down hill mountain trail riding. I am sure the bike can handle any trail at controlled speeds, but sustained high speed down hill mountain trail riding needs more bike than this, i.e. hydraulic brakes & better suspension, or in other words spending at least double or triple what this bike cost. At under $400 dollars it is a great bike.
UPDATE: After several long rides on very rocky mountain roads and trails I just had to change my rating from 4 to 5 stars. This bike is that nice, and it didn’t seem fair to down grade the rating due to slow poor FedEx service.
18 MONTH FOLLOW-UP:
Loving this well made Schwinn! Have many miles of very hard riding on it now and it is holding up well. Zero issues and still functioning perfectly. There is a slight amount of seepage at the front forks but that is normal. I have just about worn out the tires but that is after a lot of miles, most of which were ridden on rough rocky roads with zero flats. Overall this bike is a winner. Well worth the current price..

  • 31.8 alloy handlebar and stem, alloy 170mm crank
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can i take this on trails with small to medium jumps and sharp turns? Does this also have decent handeling?

It handles well enough but I’d upgrade the fork to something a little better. It’s really all this bike needs.

2. Hola, el envio es puerta a puerta con impuestos en destino cubiertos ?

Yes

3. Is this bike upgradeable? How long have you had this bike for and how you like it?

I upgraded the seat to a larger cushioned Schwinn Saddle. Then after 6months/500 miles I had worn out the crank bearing and had that replaced, had the wheel bearings serviced and tightened and replaced the chain, and replaced the stock inner tubes with the 29 inch Slime tubes. It is also a good idea to check and adjust your drive spokes every 100 miles or so. A little maintenance can save you a lot of headache. Over-all I enjoy the bike very well.

4. What is the front fork travel?

I think it’s 80 mm. The fork is not great. But for the price of the bike it’s an easy upgrade.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Afraid Heights says: “I have to admit I was a bit nervous about ordering this given the multiple bad reviews but it was hard to resist an aluminum frame mountain bike with front and rear disc brakes for less than $300. Previous reviewers were quick to say that this was cheap and not worth it. I really don’t understand how they can make a general conclusions about this based on what sounded like a simple flat tire or shipping damage in some cases. Anyway, on to my experience. The box was quite beat up. Maybe the manufacturer could improve the corrugated a bit so
that the box arrives without looking like it was in a battle. The good news is everything inside was fine and there were no missing parts. The bike went together quite easily and I had no issues with anything. Paint quality was good even though they were a few little nicks here and there. I was happy to find Shimano shifters and rear derailleur. I did remove the tires to ensure that the rim strip was covering all the spoke holes as I did not want to deal with having to buy a new tube. Glad I did because the front wheel did have the rim strip a little off center. I centered it and aired up the tire easily. It took me about 20 minutes to remove the packaging and finish the assembly. It was easy but I have some experience from assembling bicycles in the past. I have not done a proper ride on dirt but a quick ride around my neighborhood tells me that I made the right choice. If you’re looking for a great value and don’t mind checking a few things you will not be disappointed..

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Harvey-P says: “I set out looking for a sturdy product with disk brakes that could be folded to pack in a car trunk that could quickly accommodate riders with varying heights for my grand children. This bike has a quick release front tire, a quick release seat height adjustment and a quick release folding lock with an emergency backup lock. My 58″ grandson is currently riding the bike, but it can accommodate a rider over 72”. It is sturdy and I have had several comments from kids regarding how cool it looks. I had to adjust the front and back detailers to get
the full range of gear use. I had to find the instructions online using the derailer manufacturer’s website. But once I did 15 minutes later we were on the trails. If I needed another bike I would buy this one again..
