Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Why is the item called “Bayer K9 Advantix II Flea and Tick Control Treatment for Cats”? The Bayer K9 is, of course, for dogs.

Please be sure to use ONLY Feline Advantage on cats and use ONLY the dog Advantage on dogs! The use of canine Advantage on cats WILL kill them giving them severe neurological damage! I wish that Advantage would make the packaging TOTALLY different for cats and dogs, it would help. Especially with people who may not see the difference at first glance. My elderly mom accidentally applied the large dog Advantage to her cat and it had to be put down. Mom has felt horrible about it. Awful experience. Also about dosing, I have a 19 year old cat and I have used feline Advantage on him every summer for about 3 months for well over 17 years. It works wonderfully for him. I have always used the large cat product but since he has lost some weight this year I called Bayer and asked if I should use a smaller dose. The person at Bayer explained that Advantage works on body AREA as well as weight. So even though my cat has lost some weight (he’s 9 pounds) his body AREA is still the same (loose skin)and so I have been applying the large cat dose and it has worked well for him this summer with no ill effects.I cannot speak to the authenticity of this Amazon product as I purchase my Advantage from the local pet store.

2. When using this medicine, do I also need to flea bomb or spray the apartment ? Or will the medicine kill all fleas in the apartment, as well?

VACUUM EVERY DAY. Or at least every other day. You will NEVER get rid of all the fleas if you don’t treat the environment as well as the animal(s). In addition to the Advantage II, I used Knockout spray and also shampooed my cat. She has now had two doses of the Advantage and I have been spraying and vacuuming every other day and I finally feel like I have the upper hand! Even when you think they are gone, keep treating your cat and house. All it takes is one flea to start an infestation.

3. Does this kill ticks? If not, what do people recommend for ticks?

To get rid of fleas and ticks use Frontline Plus. I started to use it on mine a year ago it killed the ticks and fleas. I reapply it every other month and I haven’t seen one since.

4. Is this 6 month supply a 6 pack of tubes?

Hi Doreen Actually, I bought the 4 pack because I have four cats.I had earlier in the month bought a 4 pack someplace else, so I had two treatments for each cat.I did the treatments three weeks apart (the instructions say it is OK to do if you wait seven days).I bought the 9+ lb. package as three of the cats are well over that weight. One cat is a bit smaller and I didn’t use quite all of the tube on her.None of the cats had any bad reactions, and it worked well for three of them. The other cat (partial Maine Coon) had some results, but not so good.

With my review i am going to address points from reviews posted. This review is only based on my personal experiences.
1. Price. Yes, this product is expensive. However, it’s absolutely worth it. It works very well and I’ve always felt that my cats not suffering is more important than the price tag. Also, here on amazon is significantly cheaper than other places. (Saved $20 buying it here instead of 1800petmeds)
2. Balding. There are a few things that need to be known for this product. Make sure you are using the appropriate dose for your cats. Weigh them. Do not assume their weight. If they are on the borderline, use the smaller dose or dont use all of the larger one. Also dont put it all in one spot. Make a line from the back of their neck to their shoulder blades.
3. “Frontline is cheaper and does the same thing”. Incorrect! Frontline is cheaper but in order for frontline to work, the fleas have to bite the animals. This product does not require them to be bitten.
4. “Fleas didnt go away.” You cannot expect any flea product to completely rid your home of them. It takes a minimum of 3 months to completely get rid of them if you actively fight against the fleas. You need to vacuum your floors and furniture every day at least for awhile. You also need to keep up with your laundry and wash blankets regularly, including your bedding. And its also very important to be spraying your furniture down with flea spray. RAID or Hotshot work wonders for this! Spray your furniture and bedding down every night. I also spray in the crevices of my apartment because fleas like to hide.
5. “Fleas were going everywhere so i had to give them a flea bath.” Do NOT do this. Them jumping off your pets is a GOOD thing! That means the product is working. If you bathe them before the product has time to set it, you just wasted your money. This is why you need to be keeping up with prevention in your home. Theyre jumping off your animal because the product is working. Vacuuming, washing, and spraying is what will combat the infestation.

You CANNOT get rid of fleas completely in a short period of time so dont expect a miracle. That’s where people get disappointed. Let the product do its job and play catch up for the next few months. And make sure you’re keeping up with the doses!!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. How do you get the packaging open from Walmart? It is in a hard plastic case. Cannot open!

Did you steal this? The hard case is for anti theft. The product is taken out of the case at checkout. Take your receipt back to Walmart and have them take it out of the case!

2. LICE

It worked on lice for the cats I put it on. One of them had a bad infestation. She’ll need more applied again. The life cycle is 3-4 weeks of a louse.

3. What is the difference between Advantage II and Advantage 9 Topical Solution.

The Advantage II which I use is only for fleas not ticks. It comes in a tube and you apply it between the shoulder blades. As for Advantage 9, I have never heard of it. But I can tell you that neither my dog or my cat has had fleas with this product.

4. Has product been updated to 2019? Also….dumb question, but how do you use it?

Yes it has . I put it directly on my cats back of the neck on the skin . It works great I have no fleas on all 3 of my cats . I highly recommend this product.

This killed the fleas and not my cat, like other brands almost have. So I’m happy with it and kitty is, too. I didn’t share any with the guy (my ex) so I don’t know if it works on humans or not.

LMG says: “Okay here you go. The dosing is faulty, most reactions to this stuff is actually pet med overdosing. Since my dog has immune issues due to allergies, and Frontline gave him the same symptoms of overdosing I decided to pull him off of Frontine which I only gave him only in the summer. Regardless of what the vets claim that your pets need this stuff monthly is BOGUS. It is a pesticide, and no animal should be subjected to extra toxins on a regular basis because it over taxes their Liver & Kidneys. Anyhow, please do not go by their weight
chart when choosing the dosage. Go by this: I have a 56lb Pitbull, and I bought the med. size for him, because of his small but muscular frame, so his weight is due to more muscle, not his actual size.
He tolerates this perfectly. Do not give this or any other flee control to your pets every month if you love them. You wouldn’t spray Raid all over your body once a month. The United States is the only Big Pharma (chemical) lead country that uses Everyone as it’s test subject..

I know there are A-LOT of bad reviews for these but my belief is that people are using the product wrong, possibly issuing wrong doses or ordering the wrong product size. Bayer is a local, well known, trusted company in my area and I can tell you that they do not manufacture products that would kill your animals or harm them. This is a local, USA company. I have had family members that have worked for them their entire lives.

Now on to the product. It works very well. We were using Frontline but it did not work. AT ALL. Our dog was getting ticks, our cats and dog had fleas. We used Frontline religiously and it just didn’t perform. We ended up with a really bad flea infestation in our home and we needed to take action as multiple flea baths and house treatment were not helping. We finally switched to advantage II. Weary about the reviews we applied it to our animals in the proper dosage, size, and areas. Read, read and re-read the instructions. There are specific ways to apply this for specific animals. There are also specific sizes that you purchase depending on the type and weight of your animal. YOU NEED TO READ! Within two weeks after we treated our house with products known as permethrin and I.G. regulators as well as using Bayer Advantage II we completely got rid of our flea problem. Its now been months since we have had the problem and we haven’t found a single flea on our animals. This stuff just hands down works. I would recommend to anybody and I’m going to keep purchasing it because I never want to have fleas in my home again. Its well worth the price.

UPDATE: Its now been 5 years since my original review and we still use this. We have not had a single flea issue since my original review. Our animals are safe and healthy. Be aware that there are counterfeits on Amazon. There are articles on the internet of what to check for. If you are concerned, purchase it from your vet or Chewy..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. effectiveness

Ive never had a flea problem with frontline, but for ticks they would attach to the dog before it died.
So i switched to the seresto 8 month collar. The 1st one i used worked great no issues. The 2nd one
(8months later) had the same date as the first one. I dont know if that was an issue but the collar stopped working
after 5 months and we ended up with fleas. First time that we ever had fleas. So i am going back to frontline.
My concerns are the date on package and where its coming from.

2. can i use this on my cat?

Hi,
Thank you for your question! This specific product and formula is only intended for large dogs and puppies 45 – 88 lbs and should not be applied to cats.
We have Frontline Plus for Cats 6 dose that is specifically formulated to treat your Cats & Kittens 1.5 lbs and above for 6 full months of protection.
If you have any additional questions, please call our experts at 1-800-660-1842.

3. how soon after use, can I bathe dog with shampoo

“FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application. “I would also wait a few extra days if there are fleas in your carpet or if the dog is around bark dust because you can’t reapply it if you wash it off prematurely.I try to wait until I have vacuumed the house a few times. Also, it takes a starving flea a couple of days to die.I totally understand not wanting to touch that wet spot on puppy’s neck. This is a small sacrifice. Good luck!I am a firm believer in frontline.

4. Is this the front line known and trusted, or the front line from UK?

The Frontline I have is made in Brazil and marketed by Frontline. I don’t think I trust the Frontline name anymore.

This is the real deal. I was leery after reading other posts from people saying their’s was not legitimate. I think they older ones, from different sellers might be fake, but I think some of them are looking for a fake more than they are looking for evidence that it is not. This is the first time I bought these off Amazon and this is what I found (photos to show)
I made sure
it said “Ships from and sold by Amazon.com” ✓
Frontline inserts were in box ✓
the applicators had spaces between them ✓
the lot # on the applicator matched the lot number on the box ✓
the applicators each said Merial ✓
each applicator had instructions on how to open✓
The box I got did not look like the box on Amazon site, which worried me as it was the first thing I noticed. But I looked on Frontline’s website and the 45 – 88 lb box they show looks like mine. The one on Amazon is an older model box, apparently.
Here is the real proof and the reason for my 5 stars.I have two labs. They are outdoor dogs(except for thunderstorms, snow, cold, etc) and they have never really had a problem with fleas before. When I take them to the groomers and ask if they had fleas, they usually say “one or two” but this year they were suffering. We noticed it and I immediately went to my trusty Amazon to see if it was sold, and I found all the concerns. I trust Amazon, so I ordered. As I am a prime member I knew I would get 2 days shipping, The next day I felt like a horrible dog owner. They were both whining and I could see fleas. They were miserable. The next day the package came in and I immediately did my check offs to prove it was legit. When it passed, we applied to our dogs. That night it was thundering so the babies came in. They sleep on their own indoor blankets. They were still itching but the next morning, we saw dead fleas all over the blanket. The day after that, we had 2 different dogs. They have been so peaceful and restful since we applied this. I have not seen them scratch one time. And we have not been able to find a flea or tick on them. I bought the 6 pack which will last my 2 dogs 3 months and I will apply again. If you are debating on whether to purchase or not, go ahead. I have the photos to prove it is legit, and the happy dogs as more proof If I could give it 10 stars I would. If someone had a way to convince me this was not authentic, I would still buy it because my dogs are proof enough to me that it works. But I believe it to be 100% legitimate..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. what if I see a flea on the dog?

I have used Frontline for a long while and never seen a flea but if the flea was on my properly treated dog, I would know that the flea would soon die.Since I am now using Frontline Plus, I am sure the flea would not be able to lay eggs in my carpet which could mature.I walk my dog around my neighborhood for 15 or 20 minutes every day and I am pretty sure (from their appearance) that some of the other dogs are not well taken care of and likely have fleas.Frontline Plus really works for us!

2. What does DFRMSM Frontline DFRSMPLUS6 6-Pack indicate in the product ID? Is this a genuine Merial product?

I purchased the 3 pack of Frontline Plus for Dogs up to 22lbs. It is a Merial product as stated on the back of the packaging. The EPA Reg No 65331-5, EPA Est. 65331-FR-2 Lot No. L60605AL. Merial Limited is located at 3239 Satellite Blvd., Duluth GA, 30096-4640, USA..MADE IN FRANCE.

3. I want to make sure these are new/individual packs in a box like you would get in a store, and not in a bottle or repackaged?

For me, the individual packs were not opened and like new. However the box that contained the 6 packs had been previously opened and they just taped it back shut.

4. is it ok to bath them the day bfore u put the medication on?

My vet said to wait 3 full days (72 hours) after a bath for the dogs ph level to return before applying the frontline plus.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Angela says: “Way back, you used to need a prescription, then it was over the counter yet still pricey. Well on Amazon you can get flea and tick protection much cheaper. However if you have long haired dogs such as German Shepherds, Huskies, etc topical flea treatments may not work well for you. I use this on my Jack Russells and haven’t seen a single flea or tick and been using it for years. When I used it on my Huskies though I don’t think it was able to get down to the skin well and I still saw fleas/ticks, so I use
Trifexis for them, an oral flea preventative. I’ll keep buying this from Amazon. It is definitely the real product, no knock off or imitation. Looks exactly the same as when I buy it at the vet’s office..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. How long does it take to kill fleas?

It last for One month and it works right away. If you are infested with fleas as the other comment suggested a few months to work? GIVE YOUR DOG A BATH AND BUG BOMB YOUR HOUSE ALSO! It is not a magic spell it is Frontline. My dog is allergic to fleas so we have to be very careful, I have a calender notice that reminds me.

2. How can I guarantee that this legitimate Frontline product, given the numerous complaints/reviews of counterfeit product purchased on Amazon?

I have been told by my vet to purchase the product. If you buy from Amazon you can not return the prosuct. The last batch we bought from Amazon was ineffective,

3. IS IT EPA approved?

The legitimate Frontline is. The product that I just purchased conforms to the EPA’s fact sheet descriptions of the legitimate, approved product: http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/factsheets/retailerfactsh.pdf I am confident that I have bona fide Frontline, manufactured by Merial.

4. My dogs still have fleas after treatment, is this because there are fleas still in the carpet/bedding? Do I need to treat those as well?

The best way is to treat everything carpet, bedding, yard. If you do nothing at all it will take at least 4 months for this product to get the flea infestation in check. You must put this on your pet year round not just during the summer as fleas live in your house as well as it is a even temp all year long.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Nancy says: “I have bought Frontline Plus for a number of years. It’s always a great product to protect your dogs from fleas, ticks, lice of any kind, larva, eggs, and more. It has always given me the peace of mind I want in flea and tick protection for our pets. The package can be just a little bit tricky opening without damaging the encapsulated liquid, but I’ve always been able to do it, by taking my time. It’s easy to use just part your pet’s fur at the shoulder blade line and squeeze directly on to the skin. This is important so
that your pet cannot reach it to be able to lick the medication. I know I shouldn’t have to say this, but of course, this is for external use on the pet’s skin, never in their mouth.
It’s often hard to tell when you’re buying online if the product is the real deal. I find this price is better than the stores and it is indeed the real deal. I’ve used it many times and I’ve now used it 6 months ordering from here. I am very satisfied and have set up every 3-month auto-deliveries. This also makes it a non-thought for me anymore. it will always be here before we run out. You can order a 3 month supply or a 6 month supply packages. If you just want to knock a whole year out at once you may order 2 -6 months supplies at once. Again auto-delivery is a great option..

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Kellie says: “I cannot express enough how grateful we are for this product. Our dog has had fleas for a month now and we’ve tried flea collars, spraying the dog, spraying all cloth, baths, natural remedies, and flea preventative heart worm. Nothing has gotten rid of the fleas as quickly as this pill!! Within thirty minutes they were FALLING off, which gave us peace of mind knowing our dog was getting some relief. After spending money on other products just to try and reduce the amount of fleas, I wish we’d known about this one first. The fleas pictured above were all off
of her within the first four hours. We followed this up with the Bayer flea collar and they haven’t come back!.
