I don’t think it would be a good idea to run this unit at close to its maximum capacity.Trailers have a tendency to get loaded up over time, and I would not want to have a road incident where the insurance company could say I was running my rig unsafely.The 48069 1200 lb unit is only $5 more, I’d go with it.I’m guessing I’m at 600-700 lbs tongue weight on my trailer – it makes a huge improvement in handling.It comes with the 2 5/16″ ball. You might consider an electric tongue jack, you’ll find it really helps out to set the chains — you have to jack the rig way up to do so, and most hand crank jacks don’t have the range you need without a multi-step blocking and raising corner jacks routine.

4. How do I adjust the sway bar? Tight or with a little play in it? The instructions say NOTHING about the sway bar adjustments!! Help?

4. Whats the largest frame that the hitch will fit on trailer. The brakets that install on the trailer for the bars from the hitch.

The largest (may I asume you mean longest distance the spring bar brackets can be installed from the center of the ball) would be a setup that when the install is complete and the TV and RV are in line and the RV is level, both bars loaded and you are essentially ready to travel. On my system with a Grand Design 2600 RB trailer, I mounted the brackets at 31″ and both bars are still resting on the bracket with the bars hanging slightly beyond, to allow for turning a sharp radius. In summary, I believe that 31″ away from the center of the ball is maximum, using the spring bars that were included in the 800lb package I used. Not being an expert by any means, I really just followed the directions.

Will update if anything changes over time

After 18 month the husky centerline still works great, I have been caught in winds gusting to 70mph and the wind pushed the TV and trailer together (still had to reduce speed significantly) During my last trip 1100 miles I noticed the hich was rubbing really hard against the head assebly see picture when backing into tight camping spaces so I have started disconnecting the bars before manuvering into my site and it seams to reduce the friction (most of the friction comes when there is a steep pitch up and turning combined). Works great never any sway when being passed on the road by semi trucks usually keep speed at 70 when road conditions are appropriate.

Update after 2 1/2 years I experienced some sever sway while traveling across southern Colorado. When I stopped and checked the passenger side bolt of the head assembly had come loose to the point it moved freely with no pressure. I had tools so I tightened the bolt and went on with my trip with no other issues. Be sure to check the head assembly is torqued properly to avoid the issues I experienced. I have over 5k miles towing with the husky centerline now but I did not like the sway induced by wind, passing trucks, ect when the bolt came loose..

4. Whats the largest frame that the hitch will fit on trailer. The brakets that install on the trailer for the bars from the hitch.

The largest (may I asume you mean longest distance the spring bar brackets can be installed from the center of the ball) would be a setup that when the install is complete and the TV and RV are in line and the RV is level, both bars loaded and you are essentially ready to travel. On my system with a Grand Design 2600 RB trailer, I mounted the brackets at 31″ and both bars are still resting on the bracket with the bars hanging slightly beyond, to allow for turning a sharp radius. In summary, I believe that 31″ away from the center of the ball is maximum, using the spring bars that were included in the 800lb package I used. Not being an expert by any means, I really just followed the directions.

After 18 month the husky centerline still works great, I have been caught in winds gusting to 70mph and the wind pushed the TV and trailer together (still had to reduce speed significantly) During my last trip 1100 miles I noticed the hich was rubbing really hard against the head assebly see picture when backing into tight camping spaces so I have started disconnecting the bars before manuvering into my site and it seams to reduce the friction (most of the friction comes when there is a steep pitch up and turning combined). Works great never any sway when being passed on the road by semi trucks usually keep speed at 70 when road conditions are appropriate.

Update after 2 1/2 years I experienced some sever sway while traveling across southern Colorado. When I stopped and checked the passenger side bolt of the head assembly had come loose to the point it moved freely with no pressure. I had tools so I tightened the bolt and went on with my trip with no other issues. Be sure to check the head assembly is torqued properly to avoid the issues I experienced. I have over 5k miles towing with the husky centerline now but I did not like the sway induced by wind, passing trucks, ect when the bolt came loose..

Had them on and off a couple of times with no marks. Helps to have a pair of pliers holding the bottom plastic tab on the extended mirror to get the bottom hooked. Happy with the product. ’13 2500HD LTZ.

Yes! I have them installed on my 2012 GMC Sierra. I leave them on all the time because they fit very tight and are a little difficult to put on and take off.

1. So do you have to unscrew the chains every time you hook up ad unhook from the trailer?

You CAN relieve tension on the chains by using the trailer jack, but it’s a pain to get things lined up again when you go to reattach. After trying that route a few times, I started just loosening the chain nuts 4 turns or so to remove. It’s really quite easy, provided you carry the provided deep-well socket with you (which you should anyway) and a 1/2″ ratchet or breaker bar. I leave those in the tow vehicle.

2. Can I switch the ball from 2” to 2-5/15”?

3. Will this work with a lighter weight travel trailer? We have a Jayco 21 ft. loaded about 3500# and hitch weight 360#. We want it mainly for sway .

I have towed our Jayco 195RB weighing 3450 loaded with a tongue of about 450. O sway events, really tracks well, easy on off. Love it for my Jeep Grand Cherokee over 8,000 miles. I suggest that with any system you get check that tongue weight and try to get it over 10% 12 to 15 is considered ideal.

I couldn’t be more satisfied with the hitch.

We drove out to Kansas City in order to pick up our trailer, and more than half of our return trip to Southern California was through high winds . . . steady 20-40 mph, with gusts of up to 60. We had to slow down sometimes, of course, but I feel quite certain that the wind would have blown my trailer over without this hitch in place. With less wind, this hitch almost made it seem like the trailer wasn’t even there . . . no sway, and very little bouncing. Oh, and I didn’t have to adjust anything when switching to backing up.

I’ve heard others complain that for bigger trailers this hitch isn’t as effective. I can’t speak to that, but for my rig, this hitch is worth it’s weight in gold..
