Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. How is the sound quality of these wireless earbuds?

Not nearly as good as the $100-200 earbuds, but better than most in the price range. Caveat to that being that you can use aptx. They sound ok on apple, but $20 ok, not $50 ok.

2. Can one wireless earbud keep using while the other is charging?

Yes, they do. But you should make your device connect to the earbud that you want to use. For example, if you want to use the Left earbud while keeping the Right one in box for charging, you need connect your device with the Left earbud.

3. Do these earbuds work with iPads?

They work with my iPhone and iPad. However, they can’t connect to both at the same time like many others can. If they connect to the wrong device, then you have to go into Bluetooth settings, disconnect, go to Bluetooth settings on the other device and connect.

4. How about the call quality? can people on the other end hear you clearly?

The call quality not so good, the voice seem so far away from the mic, even though the receive side can hear me clearly.
I tried to record my voice at WhatsApp, I can hear the quality and the effect.

I love the sleek look and how compact the case and buds are.
The buds are very snug and comfortable.
Due to the tight fit, the surrounding noises were dampened.

USB C-type is a nice touch instead of micro-USB.
I like how you can use either left or right buds; most other brands only allow you to use just the right for one ear use.
The big factor for these buds is the clear sound with just enough bass.
Bass enthusiasts may want more out of them, but I felt they were perfect and not overpowered.
I’m very pleased with these earbuds..

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Amazon Customer says: “Sony’s XM4 headphones, along with the AirPods Max and Bose 700, have amazing noise cancelling. They are also relatively easy to use and transport. They fold to a nice, small size and fit in a convenient hard case (looking at you, Apple!). They are pretty adjustable and the pleather headband and earcups are comfortable and passively block noise, although they can get a tad stuffy. Battery life is great and the USB-C charging port means I can use my phone and laptop chargers. The interface is mediocre. Only the right side has a touchpad. The gestures are easy to use, but

Battery life is great and the USB-C charging port means I can use my phone and laptop chargers.

The interface is mediocre. Only the right side has a touchpad. The gestures are easy to use, but it needs another button! If you like having a Siri/Google Assistant button, you have to replace the noise cancelling button. So you have to use the app to switch noise cancelling modes every time you start the headphones. And if you want to keep that noise cancelling button and talk to your Assistant, you can only do a weird touchpad gesture that keeps my Samsung phone awake with music stuck in paused mode.

Sound quality is good but not great. If you aren’t a nitpicky person, they will sound amazing. For audiophiles, the headphones have good clarity and representation throughout the sound spectrum, but some frequencies are overemphasized (especially the mid-bass, so set Extra Bass to -1 in the app). You can tell there’s a lot of postprocessing done to the audio, and the soundstage feels narrow. Apple’s AirPods Max are apparently much better and do an amazing job simulating a wide soundstage using their DSPs. If you only need basic noise cancelling and want better audio quality in the $200-400 range, get noise cancelling headphones from fancier brands like B&W or Sennheiser, or splurge for the AirPods. Finally, the headphones let you drive them over 3.5mm jack when turned off, but they sound awful with murky recessed mids. It’s better to turn them on and let the DSP compensate. Finally, there is no support for microphones over 3.5mm cable, so these can’t be used as a gaming or video call headset unless you get an external microphone..

Color:Black Q&A Q1. I put M30 back into the case but they are still playing music. -Note:Be kindly noted that when the earbuds are back in the case, make sure they light up and are turned off. NO, although earbuds of M30 and M30 plus are the same in appearence, but the battery case can’t charge the different model earbuds. Please use the original case to charge the earbuds, not mix.

Q3.Using M30 wireless earbud for phone call, can’t be heard clearly? How can I do? Tips: 1>Please keep the earbuds clean to avoid stoppage of the microphone; 2>During the calling, please wear both earbuds. In mono mode, please make sure that the other earbud is charged and powered off in the case.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What make it so special compare to other earbuds?

I purchased these a couple months ago for about $10 more than this current price. The earbuds sound very good. They DON’T connect all the time.I end up putting them back into the case to pair or reconnect. It’s guaranteed these will fall out. They bounce, so if you lose one in a store or crossing the street, good luck chasing them. The great part is that they sound very good with just enough base.I still recommend these at this current lightning deal.I still like my Apple earbuds better, but for Mpow is an excellent current price.

2. Do they stay put while running?

Not sure about running, I work in the construction field which entails ALOT of movement and so far they have not moved a fraction. These earbuds come with 3 different size “holders” for the ear. After you find a comfortable fit you give them a slight twist to lock them in your ear.

3. can you pair to multiple devices with these ear buds?

Not at the same time, unfortunately.
If the earbuds are paired and connected to a device, you need to either turn off the device’s Bluetooth or unpair the earbuds before trying to connect to a second device.
Otherwise, the earbuds won’t be visible to the second device.

4. Can I control the volume for these earbuds

It depends on what device you have it connected to. The volume controls on the buds do NOT work with some devices. I tried these with two different optical to Bluetooth converters that is connected to a TV and these buds blast on full volume and volume controls do not work. But the Samsung galaxy buds work no problem. So you get what you pay for.

Luis Martinez says: “I love how small the box is compared to previous headphones. It is truly smaller and fit well in my pocket. I attached a picture with a USB so you can get the scale of the size. Battery have been great so far. Sound really good. I got to love the touch system they use for pausing and playing. After you know they are there and how they work, you really get used to it (by mistake I touched my wired headphones thinking they would pause). I love the USB C charger as all my devices are USB C. Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is this only wireless charging capable or can they be charged with usb c cable?

You can charge it with USB-C or wireless charger.

2. Does the charging case support a qi wireless charger?

Yes it does!

3. Why is the button impossible to press? I have been trying to get the left one to connect forever.

Just to clarify, the T10 earbuds do not have a physical button to press as they are touch control. So you only have to gently place your fingertip over the earbud to get it to respond.
Each earbud also has it’s own Bluetooth Pairing link that comes up. You should see a T10-R (Right) and T10-L (Left) on your phone or device you want to pair to. My phone can only pair up to one of the links at a time, but when it does both earbuds connect to the phone as long as they are powered on. You may want to try to alternate back and forth on which link you use to see if it makes a difference.
The last thing you want to check is to make sure that when you place the earbud in the charging case that you see the small light come on at the top of the earbud to show that it is charging. If you are still having issues the touch sensor may be defective if it never worked.

4. Can this product be returned?

Yes! Tranya offers returns both on Amazon and on their website. You will have to check with the seller if you buy from third-party stores/sellers.

Let me start off by saying I’m not a paid spokesman, nor am I some teen on TikTok with 1100 followers claiming to be an “influencer”. I’m just an average guy who has spent 12 months looking for the perfect pair of Wireless earbuds and I want to tell the world my Quest is over.

The Tranya T10s are the real deal!

Over the last 12 months I have literally bought 20 or more wireless earbuds, including the big guns from Apple and Samsung. So I have a lot of experience with what I personally want in a TWS earbud. Let me break it down in separate categories and see if I can answer all your unasked questions.

Sound…. Without exception the Tranya T-10s are the 1st earbuds that have gotten the balance of Mids, Highs, and Lows practically perfect out of the box. The bass is punchy and powerful enough to please your local bass head, yet not drown out the Mids, highs or vocals most adults are looking for. Now if your idea of perfect sound is Beats or Raycon, you may need to use an equalizer to get the thumping bass that muddies up everything else, but rest assured you can achieve it. I absolutely love the sound. A+

Microphone… Now this one is tricky. Samsung, Jabra, and Apple obviously have better microphones for phone calls, that being said, the T-10s do use noise cancelling for their microphone and the result is your voice gets prioritized and the sound is way better than most other earbuds I’ve used. This morning I used the earbuds for a 20 minute zoom presentation and 3 phone calls outside and not one person had any problem hearing me. Very good experience. B+

Battery life… This is another place the T-10s shine. I seriously get 7 and 1/2 hours continuous playback at 75% volume in stereo mode. If I use just one earbud at night, at around 50% volume or less, I can honestly get 8+ hours per earbud. I absolutely can’t believe how long these last. A+

Look and Fit…. Much like sound everything in this category is subjective. The earbuds themselves look similar to almost 10k other budget black earbuds. However putting them in my ears I’ve never had a better fitting earbud. I usually use Tranya Memory Foam ear tips on my earbuds for a better fit and seal, I have yet to use them on these. Straight out of the box the fit and seal were 100% perfect. Now, here is one thing that isn’t to my liking, the case itself. It just feels cheap. The matte plastic feels like a cheap toy for some reason. I understand the matte finish is used to keep fingerprints to a minimum, just wish they used thicker material. Guess that makes this category an A-

Video playback…. Absolutely perfect. No problems using Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, or any other streaming video platform. I have experienced zero lag. Period. I can’t comment on online gaming either mobile or console as I’m not much of a gamer. So for video play…. A…. gaming no clue.

The little things… Yes both earbuds can be used separately. The touch controls are practically perfect. They use a one second touch to pause and play or answer and hang-up. That keeps the phantom quick touch hang-ups or video/music pauses to a minimum. Fantastic touch. Also the type C and wireless charging puts the T-10s more advanced than 80% of the other earbuds in this price range. One last little thing… These are ipx7 rated for waterproofing. However, if you think I’m gonna test that by putting them in a glass of water, you have me mistaken for someone that doesn’t value a 50 dollar piece of electronics. I’ll just trust em on this one.

EDIT: One MORE last little thing, if you previously bought the Tranya memory foam eartips I mentioned earlier, you can use them on the T10s with no problem charging them. I read somewhere that the tips needed modified for charging in one of Tranyas other models, but not here. A+ for all these little things.

Bottom line, for me these are absolutely perfect. I haven’t found a better pair of earbuds in 2020, and I doubt you will either..

There is an awful lot to like about the Bose QuietComfort Noise Cancelling Earbuds. I will break down the good and the bad below but, suffice to say, these are possibly the most polarizing ear buds I have ever had on. I guess that makes it the perfect set of buds for 2020. Here is the breakdown:

The good:

-Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): We can just get this out of the way. If you want best in class noise cancellation on an earbud, these are the set to get. Period. I have the class leading Sony ANC earbuds, the new Technics, the Samsung Galaxy Live, and have spent extensive time with the Airpod Pros. All have solid ANC but none can approach a good set of over ears. My over ear Sony WH-1000XM3’s put them all to shame when it comes to turning off the outside world. I am not ready to say that these Bose buds can duplicate that level of ANC but it is close. When you get a good seal and have the adjustable ANC level on 10, the world is gone. I was out hanging Halloween decorations a couple weeks ago and my neighbor across the street was mowing his lawn. It looked comical. It appeared that he was mowing with the mower turned off. I couldn’t hear it. Once I realized the trick the ANC was doing, I strained my ears to really focus and try to hear anything. Nothing. Finally, I plucked an earbud out and there it was, loud lawn mower. If great ANC is the mission, stop right now, and just buy these.

-Sound: Like all Bose products, these sound great. A few years ago, I would be raving about them. They have the classic signature Bose warm tonality, nice solid bass, a full mid section, and crisp resonating highs. However, after using products from Klipsch, Sennheiser, B&O, and my other afformentioned ANC earbuds, either my taste in sound has changed or my expectations have. I recently received a set of new wireless earbuds from Shure and they sound unbelievable. The detail and sound stage are amazing. These just don’t sound as good. They are better than any of my buds from Samsung or Jabra for sure and in the same arena as the others. For this price, I guess I was hoping for more. One challenge may be that Bose doesn’t give you the ability to customize your sound. You can customize your ANC experience just not your sound. It has to be the way Bose wants you to hear them. Frankly, this is a stunning omission. They have a great app. Just not sure how or why you leave that out. Maybe someday an update can remedy this. In the meantime, these buds sound great. Just know that at this price, there are earbuds that sound a bit better out there.

-Connection / Pairing: As you would expect, these come with the latest and greatest chip set as well as Bluetooth 5.1. To pair just download the Bose Music app and follow the directions. You will be all set in maybe ten seconds. Range is great. 30 plus feet through walls. All is exactly as you would expect from a high end set of buds.

-Intangibles: Bose gives you a very fancy auto pause they call auto transparency. Pluck a bud from either ear and the others ANC turns off. Pretty slick but there isn’t a regular touch pad transparency mode. Weird. You get quick charging (5 minutes on nets 2 hours use) via USBC and Qi wireless charging. Good stuff.

The bad:

-Form factor: There is no other way to put this. These Bose buds are big. HUGE actually. While everyone else is going small, Bose went big. Some of this must be to accommodate the internals of the buds themselves. I am also guessing that, in order to get a good seal, like an over ear, they determined that they needed the extra size. Oddly, in spite of this size, they are quite comfortable and lightweight. So, while I am hitting Bose for an overall negative here, if you can live with the look, you will not mind how they feel. One more note here, you really need to try all three sets of wings as you need to get a good seal in order to experience their magical ANC.

-Battery life: Not a negative but definitely NOT a positive. Less than six hours on bud for me. That’s in line with my other ANC buds but you would think Bose could squeeze a little more out of these since they are like satellites hanging out of your ears. Further, the case is large. I took a couple pictures next to my other buds for perspective. You only get two more charges there. Should be at least three. There is an external LED battery life indicator which is well done. All and all just should be better.

-Controls: For buds this big, Bose should let you control everything here. Instead, you have very limited pause/play, ANC controls, etc. No volume. No track control. These are big omissions. Pretty much means your phone always need to be at your side. Just not acceptable.

The Wrap:

Listen, I have been pretty hard on these. I feel like at $279, I should be. However, I will say this. After a few days, I 100% planned on returning these. Yet, here I am a couple of weeks later and they haven’t left my side. I am not sending them back in spite of all of their shortcomings. They sound great but, more than anything, when you hit the ANC on these, the world around you vaporizes. These days, I can live with an awful lot of compromises in order to make that happen. Cheers to the Bose team on making a classy yet odd looking set of buds that give you world class ANC.

***Update*** I have lived with these now for a few weeks. The things I hit these for still bother me but my original 4 star review is being moved to a 5 star. There are a few reasons for this. First, while huge, I just love wearing these. They are super comfortable for long sessions. They don’t jam into your ear canal but simply push against it. The Bose design team deserves a lot of credit here. They are just really well made. Something I didn’t fully grasp when I wrote my initial review. Plus, they actually look kind of cool. Secondly, as I said originally, the ANC really is amazing. Every day I use them I am more and more blown away. They just literally make the world disappear. Lastly, they sound great. I still long for an EQ option in the app but I don’t really miss it in real world use. Here is the bottom line; I have a drawer full of high end earbuds and headphones. For the last few weeks, I grabbed my Samsung Live Buds once. Every other day I have reached for these. They are just simply the best buds I own. That doesn’t mean that my prior criticisms aren’t reasonable. It just means that everything these do well they do really well. They aren’t inexpensive but, if you can pull it off, I highly recommend making the investment.

***Update 2.0***So one of my major gripes just got a little better. Bose just updated their app and it now includes a toggle to add volume controls on bud. You will find this toggle in your settings. Simply flip volume control on and you can now swipe up and down on the right bud to control volume. It is very well done. There is still some work to do on this front but we are getting there. Keep up the support Bose..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Has anyone experienced the sound going up or down on it’s own?

Yes.I just got mine yesterday and put them on.About 10 min later, the volume starts going up and down, and they’re in my ears, so I’m not touching them. They also skip music forward and backward. Then this morning, after only wearing them for a couple of hours last night, same thing happens.I disconnected from the bluetooth, and when I reconnected, only one would reconnect. The other bud is not working at all. I HAVE NOT EVEN HAD THEM 24 HOURS.I don’t have time for this crap.If I can’t get a quick fix in the next hour, I’ll return them.Fifty bucks is a lot of money to pay for junk.

2. I have the t6 but when the touch sensors get wet they go nuts on their own. do t12 have the same issue? anyone showered with them?

Yes, the T12 have the same issue. To solve this issue get the T10.

I own both the T10 and T12, and the T10 work perfectly for showering or working out in humid environments.

3. Do these have a mic for phone calls?

Yes they do, and they work very well, too. First time people are actually telling me they hear me loud and clear and love that there’s no distortion. In fact, they are better than the car’s internal system, so I now use them instead of the car for phone calls

4. Anybody else having the Bluetooth keep getting loose and volume going up and down on its own?

I’m not sure what you are referring to regarding the Bluetooth getting loose, but both the Bluetooth and volume work perfectly on mine.

Terrorgod says: “The Tozo t12’s are the most recent release (as of writing this) in tozo’s bluetooth earbud lineup. They feature IPX8 water resistance so they wont break if you sweat heavily with them or take them into the shower, a charging case that has a little screen to indicate how much battery is left, and newly it now uses a type C connector to charge over the more flimsy Micro USB from before. The case is similar in size to that of the T10’s but a little bit smaller in length, or about the size of a small pillbox which will allow
it to fit snuggly in a pocket or handbag with ease. The earbuds themselves sound better than previous models featuring a bass booster to help how much power the little speakers can push out. Overall as an audiophile I like it but thats with regards to it being a tiny pair of bluetooth earbuds that’s also waterproof (they are great for running with or carrying lightly but I would not use these as a desktop solution for example). The earbuds also feature touchscreen controls on their side with several tap motions to control. This was also the case for the T6 model but now the sensor is a bit larger making it much easier to do the correct gesture.

To sum it up in a TL;D – as a user of the T6’s and T10’s (T10 were my favorite of the two), My first impressions are to switch to these as my daily driver earbuds for now, a spot the T10’s held for a really long time now. These have the best of both worlds in terms of the earbuds which is really great. This product is easily worth the 50$ in my opinion as I have tested quite a few other brands blue tooth earbuds in my search for something that wouldnt break whilst running and Tozo has been the only one to actually deliver on product promises and quality..

Summary: Better sound quality than most, cheaper than the top-of-the-line active noise cancelling sets, and consistent connectivity.

My background – former recording engineer/musician, so my other set of earphones are quad-driver custom molded in-ears. I’m not expecting that level of quality from a set of $2-300 wireless units, but I don’t put up with bad sound quality and I like relatively flat response.

I’ve previously tried the Jabra 75t’s and other, less expensive units, couldn’t deal with the sound quality and dropouts. I’m not a fan of hugely stilted EQ (the Jabras in particular had bass that was incredibly overpowering in a bad way).

** The good **

– Sound quality is great for a set of $200 earphones. EQ adjustment was minimal to get them in the ‘sweet spot’ where I could hear everything. Highs and transients could be a bit smoother, but everything is there and you can pull the things you want up/down vs just having to correct for massive problems. Soundstage is impressive for something this small and (relatively) inexpensive.

– Connectivity is miles better than I’ve had before. I used to get dropouts riding my bike on other units (3 foot connection distance), and with these I can walk across the room and there’s no issue. Time will tell if this holds for other use cases, but so far so good!

– Battery life is solid at 7 hours default, plus more with the case. Longer than I’d ever have them in for in one setting, anyways.

– USB C charger. Love USB C and use it for most of my other devices, so this is handy.

– The Android/iOS app is great and easy to use. Relatively easy setting it up/getting it connected.

** The not-as good **

– Right ear only for solo stuff – doesn’t bother me, and they explicitly tell you this in the instructions, but be aware of it if you’re a left-ear only type person.

– No ANC – I didn’t want active noise cancellation, so up to you if you want it or not. The ANC version the Sennheiser makes is $100 more, so up to you.

– Slightly wonky firmware updates that take 45 minutes. Hopefully won’t have to do this often, so not a big deal to me.

Overall, I’m very happy with these – I’d been waiting to see if they’d release a version cheaper than the Momentum Wireless 2’s, and this has answered my request! I’ll update this review if anything goes haywire down the road, but so far these seem like a keeper..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. How would these be for mixing compared to say the Sony 7506?

The Etymotic Research ER4XR are in-ear monitors whereas the Sony 7506 are over the ear headphones. The Etymotic are excellent at sound reproduction and cancellation of outside noise so they are great for mixing, I would venture to say more so the Sony 7506. Downside of the ER4XR is the insertion and extraction into your ear. The Sony MDR-7506 have been around for quite some time and they have stood the test of time; great headphone for home use; whereas the ER4XR is geared more to professional use as reflected in the price of each product.

2. Do you get a 2 year warranty when buying them from Amazon?

Please do your research before purchasing from a non-authorized retailer. Etymotic is very clear about its warranty policy: if you buy from a vendor that is not on its list of authorized resellers, you will get no warranty coverage from Ety. Amazon is not an authorized reseller. Some vendors who sell the product via Amazon are.

3. Will these connect to the sony bluetooth cable (muc-m2bt1), which has mmcx connectors?

The ER4SR and XR also use mmcx connectors with the detachable cables.
Etymotic Research

4. are these high resolution earphones?

yes, these are high resolution headphones, among the best.

I bought these to replace a very old pair of Etymotic buds that are now failing, and filters are no longer available for them. I tried a couple $250-300 IEMs, but found they were not as “clean” sounding as the Oppos. The other IEMs had more bass, but the instruments were not distinct. I finally decided to spend the extra money and bought the ER4XRs, and I am totally happy. While ER4XRs obviously do not have the same pristine clarity of the Oppo planar magnetic headphones, they are super accurate. Bass is good enough (I would not be satisfied with the ER4SRs). Vocals are wonderful. Highs are all there, but without obnoxious sizzle. My ears consider the XRs to have a flat response. If you want more bass, use your equalizer. They respond well to judicious tweaks — but if you try to get to Beats-level of bass, they will sound horrible.

I have tried the IEMs using the following sources: iPhone 6s; computer and/or iPhone through Oppo HA-2 DAC; and Cowen player with uncompressed music. While there were obvious differences in the sound with the different sources, I was pleasantly surprised that ER4XRs had acceptable sound with the iPhone alone, and just got better with the better sources.

Fit:
I have small ear canals, and it is usually hard to find IEMs that work well for me. They are too uncomfortable, easily fall out, or too hard to insert and get a good seal. The default small silicon tips work well. (same size as my old ones). The go in easily but require a two-handed method of getting them to properly seal. No problem with them staying in my ears.

Cord:
The cord does not tangle very much. The cord divider on the thin earpiece leads is very useful. Sliding it up to the earbuds when storing keeps the tangles away. And, while the thin leads do have a “microphone effect” when brushing up against clothing, moving the slider up close to my neck kills the noise.

Case:
The Deluxe case is way too big to carry around. I’ll have to spend another $5 to get another smaller zipper case from Etymotic. (The fuzz is coming off my very old case, so I don’t want to re-use it).

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. How Do I leave a review

The description clearly states that the buds are not meant for swimming. They are only water resistant (ie: rain, sweat, snow), not for water submersion.

2. Do these come with different size ear caps?

You get 4 sizes of ear caps. I would suggest using the biggest one that gives a comfortable fit and effectively blocks out the ambient noise around you. Buds came with medium size already put on but I put the XL size on. I can insert the buds further into my ear canal for hearing better and more comfortable fit. And less chance of falling out of ear.

3. I can’t get my left one to pair with my right one anymore. Resetting the connections isn’t doing anything. Any suggestions?

Ok. I tried every combination of buttons and finally this worked for me everything else was a fail.
1-turn off both headphones and turn off Bluetooth on your phone as well.
2-take one of the powered off ear buds and hold the button down till the red/blue blinking light blinks purple 3 times and turns off. Put it to the side.
3-Grab the other earbud and repeat step 2. You want to do this individually to them at first.
4-Now grab both buds and hold the buttons down at the same time so they reset together. Then turn them on and they will pair to eachother.

4. While using, the left bud will keep dropping audio, and the right follows before both come back. Phone is in my hip pocket. Anyone else?

About every 10 min lose sound and come back.. And now they randomly disconnect completely and reconnect. Guess you get what you pay for..

All you have to do is take them out of the charging case and they are ready for pairing( just a quick note make sure you choose TOZO-T10-R, the right earbud is the primary). The bluetooth v5.0 mean they have a stronger connection and longer distance. I can leave them in my backpack and I am still connected up to 30 feet away. The clarity of the highs and the richness of the bass are of the quality level of the highest end earbuds. I have personally taken these into the shower, I wasn’t actually showering at the time, both of the earbuds and the case itself are extremely water resistance. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could use my T10s for a little over four hours and the charging case is good for four full recharges of the earbuds. Finally, I have to say the Qi wireless chargeable case is very handy. I can set my phone and earbud case on my Qi charging pad and I’m good to go. If you have never used wireless charging, you need to. All in all for the price I could not find a better earbud on the market..

1. If you use only one earphone and listen to music, do you get the full sound in mono in that ear, or do you only hear the right or left track?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Cambridge Audio.

With only one earbud connected to your Bluetooth device, a stereo signal will be turned into a mono signal, combining left and right tracks.

Best Regards,

Cambridge Audio

2. Does anyone have a recommendation on Comply foam tips that fit these earbuds?

Previous answers that Comply 600 tips fit is correct, but it is a CHORE getting them to fit onto the earbud. They will eventually get on there, though. I bought the Comply variety pack, so to help with sizing: I think the original tips are about the same size as a Comply Small. A Comply Medium is a bit bigger than the OEM tip, and the foam will still collapse down to fit in your ear. The Comply Large lookslarge.

3. Do these support ldac aptx bluetooth protocol?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Cambridge Audio.

The Melomania 1 wireless earbuds do support the AptX Bluetooth codec, but they do not support the LDAC Bluetooth codec.

Best Regards,

Cambridge Audio

4. The product description clearly state active noise cancelling. is it or isn’t it? am i to understand that this applies only .to ,telephone mic? uhhh

You are correct. These are NOT active noise cancelling earbuds. Though I was really impressed by the memory foam tips’ passive cancellation and WOW is it beautiful sound quality.
Note:I’ve also tried my brother’s airpods pro (that do have ANC) and it’s pretty amazing but airpods sound quality doesn’t have nearly the same depth and richness, so it’s a trade up, (but I’m very picky about sound quality) just wanted to share.

Bluetooth connection:

First, I’m using these with an iPhone Xs and an iPad Pro, so my experience is limited to whatever limitations are inherent between iOS and the headphones. These use a fairly new Qualcomm Bluetooth 5.0 chip (the QCC3026). The chip was announced last year but very few devices have it as far as I can tell. Like most true wireless headphones, one of the headphones is a slave and the other is the master; but different from most true wireless headphones, this can switch on the fly to balance battery usage between the two headphones (since one has to maintain two connections at all times. In practice, what this means is that two headphones show up in your Bluetooth settings (an L and a R). The phone only shows one as being connected at a time, but this can switch over time (the headphones handle this on their own). Also, if you put the headphones in their case and pull them out again, whichever one you pulled out first will be the master.

Positives
• Both headphones work during phone calls. Call quality is acceptable though the microphone placement means it’s not as good as the AirPods. But they work fine. If you use headphones on business calls frequently, I wouldn’t recommend these. I stick to wired headphones for business calls.
• You can use a single headphone just fine. [UPDATE – it appears that single headphone use only plays the right or left channel, not mono. You can of course turn mono on in the phone settings, but it’s not automatic.] If you are using two, but then put one in the case, one of two things will happen: If the master is still in your ear, music will continue (though you will hear a few beeps which apparently are some sort of warning that one is in the case. But it will keep working and the beeps stop). If you put the master in the case, then the slave will pause but it will connect to your device and become master. You then just have to hit play to resume playback. So not as smooth as the AirPods, but not a deal breaker. Qualcomm has another bluetooth chip which apparently will allow each headphone to connect to the device like AirPods, but it is limited to working this way with very specific phone hardware that also has to be Qualcomm (apparently there are very few compatible devices for now), so if you’re on Apple devices like me, that other chip wouldn’t make a difference.
• It’s nice that they support AAC and AptX Bluetooth profiles for better sound quality. With the iPhone, you use AAC but those on many Android devices use AptX. You can actually tell that calls use SBC as you can hear a slight change in quality when a call comes through. Since many headphone makers leave you in the dark about what profile they’re using, it’s nice to get that info right on the box.
• Range: Pretty darn good. This will vary a bit due to your surroundings, but I can leave my phone in my office (at the front of the house) and walk to the back door without any disruptions. If I turn a few more corners into the bedroom, I start to get it cutting out. So that’s at least 45 feet without any walls, and about 30 feet with walls. Obviously, this will depend a lot on your house, but you should have plenty of range for most activities while leaving your device sitting on the counter.
• Connection between the two headphones is rock solid. None of the issues I’ve had with others that didn’t want to connect to each other or occasionally cut out on one earbud.
• iOS reports the battery percentage of both headphones (but not the case).
Cons
• Switching devices: This is more of a hassle than I would like. These can be paired with up to 7 devices. Currently, I’ve paired it with just my iPhone and iPad. However, switching is not easy. You can pause your music and then hold a button down. They said they’re in pairing mode and at that point you can select them in the Bluetooth settings of you other device. Every other pair of Bluetooth headphones I have, you can simply switch by selecting the headphones in the settings of the new device. That doesn’t work on these. The headphones seem to ignore the request. The instructions say they should connect automatically to the second device if Bluetooth is turned off on the first device, but so far that hasn’t happened for me. I’m still trying to figure this out and will update my review if I get it figured out. This is a downside compare to the AirPods, which can connect to multiple devices at once and are easily switched; you don’t even have to enter iOS settings since they will appear on all your devices.

Sound:

I’ll leave it to someone else to write the definitive take on their sound as I’m not really equipped to give more than a cursory review. The truth is I will use these for listening to podcasts/audiobooks about 85% of the time, and they are more than good enough for that. I compared them against a pair of Jaybird X3 Bluetooth headphones, a pair of Etymotic HF3 wired headphones, and the Apple AirPods. The HF3’s are the best sounding of the bunch, but that’s not surprising. Their clarity is superb and it’s not really a fair comparison. Their only weakness is that they are truly balanced, meaning those that love bass won’t find much. But the bass they produce is clear and clean. The Melomania 1 compare pretty closely to the Jaybird X3. They both are pretty good in the bass and mid-tones and they’re not as good up high. They have a bit of a laid-back sound. I find them perfectly acceptable for listening on the go. I’d say they offer a little better sound quality than the AirPods, but not drastically so. But a side-benefit of the sealed nature of how they fit in your ears is that you block off a little outside noise and can generally listen at lower volumes that AirPods. That’s actually a big plus.

[UPDATE – after a week of use, I’ve found these have opened up nicely and they seem less laid back than before and a little more detailed. Frankly, they sound very good.

UPDATE 8.17.2019 – I’ve seen some reviewers complaining about bass and I honestly have no idea what they’re talking about. These have a wonderful bass response. One comparison was to the newest Sony’s and it’s possible those have even more bass. But I’m not sure why you would want it, these have plenty and frankly, anything more would be bloated and unbalanced. If that’s what you want, feel free to get something different as these are pretty nicely balanced and have a gorgeous, full sound.]

Case:

While not a clone of the AirPods case, it’s pretty close. I’ve attached a few photos comparing the two, but there’s no concern with the case being too big to pocket. They’re nearly the identical size, with the Melomania 1 case being ever so slightly larger in each dimension. But the corners are rounded and the material will slide easily into a pocket. Compare to some of the truly ridiculously large cases that sometimes accompany true wireless headphones – I’m looking at you Sony, as well as the Powerbeats Pro – this is a relief. The angled top of the case when open is a clever way to make it easier to pull out the Melomania 1 than the AirPods.

[UPDATE 8.17.2019 – I feel like the case is the unsung hero here. Just like the AirPods, it’s so small and easy to pocket. I pretty much take them everywhere, just in case. I have not had the same experience with other headphones with bulky cases and I simply love them.]

The case does not connect to the phone in any way (unlike the AirPods), so you rely on the battery display on the front, which lights up when you open the case. I haven’t been able to confirm the battery life of the case. I fully charged it two days ago when I received them in the late afternoon and I haven’t plugged it in since. I’d say I’ve used the Melomania 1 for about 8 hours since then, and let them charge overnight last night in the case. The case now shows 4 out of 5 lights on the charge display (with full batteries on the headphones). I’m not going to plug it in again until it’s dead to see how long I can go, and I’ll update.

Build Quality:

Everything here feels solid and well-made. The headphone body and case are made out of a smooth matte plastic. It’s not sticky at all, so no issue sliding the case in and out of your pocket, it’s hard like the AirPods case but not polished smooth. The buttons on each headphone are easy enough to click without touching the rest of the headphone but I prefer to hold the headphone between two fingers and then press the button when I’m doing anything that requires holding the button down. It’s also nice that you don’t have to search for the buttons, they’re just the full end on each of the headphones. Can’t comment on the waterproofing as I’m not planning on getting these wet (other than sweat during a workout which has never been an issue for me, even with headphones with no waterproofing).

Controls:

The controls are pretty easy to figure out and it’s nice to be able to adjust volume on the headphones. The buttons work a little differently than other wireless headphones I’ve had, but they include a nice little card the size of a business card in the box to carry around in your wallet until you’re familiar. Nothing particularly difficult, just a small learning curve.

Fit:

This is a hugely subjective category, but has been my biggest issue shopping for truly wireless headphones. I have pretty large ear canals (probably from sleeping with earplugs for the better part of the last 20 years) and besides the AirPods (which I just find uncomfortable), I haven’t been able to get a good fit with any of the others I’ve tried except the Sony WF-SP700N (which were very problematic in other areas – horrible case and pitiful battery life). I’ve also tried the Jabra Elite 65t, the Anker Soundcore Liberty Air, and the JLabs Jbuds Air. Nothing fit right. I think the Melomania 1 are going to work for me. I will say that the three included ear tip sizes (medium size is in both silicon and foam) are surprisingly small. Again, I have large ears, but I also have an assortment of large ear tips that I use on other earphones, and the ones supplied here are smaller than average. While it’s not an issue for wearing them, the issue I have run up against with other earphones is using third-party ear tips with the charging cases (the others have unusually shallow tips. The Melomania tips are normal depth but small in circumference). Happily, I was able to find some that fit okay in the case and allow the earphones to charge but are still large enough for my ears (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CZMDJFZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The fit in the case is a little tighter than I would prefer, and they don’t slide in quite as nicely as with the supplied tips, but this is something I can live with. After a couple days, I’m finding they slide into place easier than on day one, so I don’t think it will be a problem. They’re still not as comfortable as earphones with a very narrow body that don’t touch the sides of my ears (my wired earphones are Etymotic and are wonderful), but I think they’ll be okay.

Battery life:

I’ve only had these two days, so it’s hard to say if they live up to their purported battery life. Like I mentioned elsewhere, iOS displays battery percentages for both earphones. The case displays battery life with 5 small lights on the front. 9 hours is pretty impressive, providing a full work day of sound on a single charge. Plus you can get another 4 charges from the case for something around 45 hours. Frankly, this blows away almost every other wireless headphone (I saw that JLabs just announced some similar to the Powerbeats Pro with a total of 70 hours of use between the headphones and charging case, but other than those, these are the best I know of) I’m looking forward to seeing how this plays out in everyday use, but based on my normal usage, I’m looking at least a week of normal use per charge of the case, which is great.
[UPDATE – It’s now been a little over a week since I received these and charged them up fully. I haven’t plugged the case in to charge since then and I have two out of five lights (showing roughly 40% battery life left in the case, plus my headphones are currently fully charged. I’ve been using them as I normally do, with several hours of music playback during the day while I work, an occasional phone call, audiobooks and podcasts while I take care of stuff around the house, etc. I should clarify that I use both headphones at the same time, as it’s possible to use a single one at a time which would extend battery life by a good amount. It’s hard to overstate how impressed I am with the battery on these things. I’m going to keep using them until they die, I’m guessing around the two week mark. We’re basically entering Kindle battery life with these things, which is tremendous.
UPDATE 8.17.2019 – So I’m getting about two weeks of my normal use per charge to the case/headphones. I took them on a 3-week long road trip where I used them more than normal, sometimes for 7 or 8 hours a day, and I only had to charge them up once. Pretty impressive. I can’t imagine anyone will have any complaints about battery life with the headphones themselves or the case.]

Charging:

There is a single pogo pin in the bottom of the case that makes contact with the metal guard over the driver (I’ve never seen this setup but it seems to work just fine), and the silver band around each headphone makes contact with a metal band around the inside of the case. I’m guessing those are the two points of contact for charging purposes. A strong magnet pulls each earphone into place and holds it while it charges, similar to the AirPods (probably 1.5x the strength of the AirPod magnet, likely because unlike the AirPods, the inside of the top of the case isn’t molded to the shape of the headphone so the magnet is all that keeps them in place). And of course there is a micro-USB charging port on the side of the case to plug into whatever micro-USB charger you may have out there (a cable is provided in the box). A lot of people will probably complain that this isn’t USB-C, but honestly, with the total battery time between case and earphones you can carry around, you are unlikely to need to carry any charging cable unless you’re going out of town for a few days.

Overall:

Cambridge Audio is a storied brand and are well-known in audiophile circles. They have done an amazing job considering these aren’t just their first true wireless headphones, these are actually the first headphones they’ve ever made. They’ve nailed a lot of things that other companies that have been making headphones for years are still having issues with (like Bluetooth connection, case size, battery life, etc.). I’ve been waiting a long time for true wireless headphones I can live with. I think the Melomania 1 are what I’ve been looking for.

[Edit: I just wanted to add that my headphones developed an issue with static a couple months ago. Obviously this wasn’t a great development, but Cambridge Audio was easy to work with and quickly replaced them without a hassle. Great service in addition to a great product.].
