3. It does not appear to have heat fins. other reviews say this is a huge flaw..???

It’s been working fine for me. It’s not under direct sunlight or a heat source.

I don’t know if I would qualify this amp at 500w though. It doesn’t seem to output that much power.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. will this power a 50 watt bass shaker?

This amp cuts off at 20 Hz with presumably a subsonic filter, how can it power bass shakers? You need to go down to 5 Hz for that.

2. Why are there left and right inputs for a mono amp? If you have a mono source, can you plug it into only one input, or do you have to connect to both?

Hello. We have a using guide picture in the listing. You can check that. We have left and right inputs since some customers using stereo signal. If yours are mono, just connect one input.

3. When using in sub mode, which rca input to plug in? left or right or both?

Hello. Please see our second main image. The “audio in” rca posts are connected to sound sources. The “spk out” posts are a set of speaker binding posts. When in sub mode, you need to connect your passive subwoofer with bare wire or banana plug. If you still have questions, you can send your device models and images to nobsound@doukaudio.com. We will help you with it.

4. When using this with a subwoofer how do I know where to set the frequency cortrol knob?

Without having a proper test microphone and measurement software (such as SMAART), you could use a sine wave generator (or a collection of prerecorded sine waves from 40-200 Hz) and a sound pressure meter (or sound pressure phone app). The accuracy of low frequency sound pressure measurements will depend on your telephone. Google subwoofer setup procedure.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Kenneth H. says: “I purchased two of these amps, and the quality control of them both is excellent. I also did diagnostic tests on the power supplies, and both were very reliable and steady at 19.3 volts 4.72 amps for one , and 19.5 volts 4.72 amps for the other one. I am using one of them to drive an 8 inch 200 watt RMS subwoofer, and the results are amazing indeed. I highly recommend this unit, as it has features like gain control switches, that similar amps don’t have. I am very pleased with the performance of these little amps. I can Highly
recommend them..

Austin Higgs says: “I did a lot of research and bought 2 of these, one each to drive a “Dayton Audio DCS450-4 18″ Classic Subwoofer 4 Ohm ” … which I also bought here…. Could not be happier. Out of curiosity I measured the power output (I have dummy loads, scopes, and sweep generators) … and for me, the output was about 290W RMS………… did not test for extended periods… but I am HAPPY with the purchase. Also like the auto power off feature! cool! UPDATE: 4 months later one died. No visual indication of failure, just no power on. I read many reviews

UPDATE: 4 months later one died. No visual indication of failure, just no power on. I read many reviews that mentioned failure after a time, but bought these because they’re just such a darn good value. Now I will contact Dayton and see if the warranty covers this… Still happy with the value, the other one is powering both 18″ subs in series as 8 ohms….

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Can I convert my passive subwoofer into active using this amp?

Yes you certainly can. This is a great amp with lots of inputs.I used it to replace a burnt out amp in my Cambridge SoundWorks sub woofer.Any passive subwoofer can be adapted to active with this amp.It has a mounting flange and so you just cut a hole in the back or side of the box to fir the amp, connect to the speaker inside the box with the leads coming out of the back of the amp, screw the amp to the box through the holes in the flange and then connect to your exiting speaker wires or direct from the sub-out on the main amp and power it up.

2. Can i use this amp for a 2ohm subwoofer

I’m not sure. You may want to contact the manufacturer, but it’s been a great amp.

3. is this subwoofer plate amp available with 220VAC main input supply?

hi sorry for the late delay, but this subwoofer plate amp is not available with 220 VAC main input supply. you need to buy 110VAC to 220VAC convertor based on the correct wattage specified for this amplifer.

4. Can this handle 4 AuraSound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shakers without any issues? I’ve seen this bundled with them (some even in 4 packs).

So did anyone used this amp with 4 Aurasound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shakers? Do they go well?
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

gruvedaddy says: “I purchased this amp to replace the factory amp in my Polk PSW111 that had crapped out after a few years. The Dayton amp was a bit smaller in width than the Polk that it replaced but i was able to make it work by drilling some new pilot holes in the sub unclosure and just filling in the old screw holes with RTV sealant. Whole job took less than 30 minutes and i couldn’t be happier. This amp is beefy and provides more than enough punch and trust me I’ve put it to the test with my Onkyo receiver. Some
people say the auto on feature doesn’t come on until higher volumes but i noticed it comes on at about 30% which is better than the Polk amp did so I’m plenty happy. It is deep so be sure to measure for that but it fit in my Polk just fine. Also, i am using the LFE input and is not a difficult setup just buy a rca Y adapter (1 female to 2 males) and connect them to the rca left and right in and turn the crossover all the way to the right and your good to go. Now I’m just looking for another used Polk with a fried amp so i can get another Dayton amp and have another sub 180 degrees out for my system. I put a video on youtube under “Polk PSW111 amp replacement” if you would like to see how i did mine..

10. Dayton Audio SA70 70W Subwoofer Plate Amplifier

  • Auto-on circuit comes on the instant the amp is needed
  • Variable 2nd order low-pass crossover from 40 Hz – 180 Hz
  • Proven performer at a low price point
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. I purchased this sa 70 sub woofer amp and the ast- 2b 4- shaker transducer. how do i wire using the lfe circuit from my stero receiver?.. thank you

Well, it all depends on the receiver. What I hope you have is a receiver with a dedicated subwoofer output, line level. If so, you just hook that output to the right RCA input of the Dayton. If your receiver doesn’t have the subwoofer RCA output but does have a subwoofer output that is amplified (rare, but it happens), then use the speaker output to the speaker inputs on the Dayton. If your receiver has neither of these, wellthen you use the stereo outputs from the receiver (like “tape out” or “line out”) and the RCA cable to go to the line inputs on the Dayton. If your receiver doesn’t have line outputs, then use the receiver’s speaker outputs to connect to the speaker inputs of the Dayton, and connect your existing speakers to the speaker outputs (called “high level outs”) on the Dayton. All of these approaches will work, but I’ve described them in declining order of fidelity (i.e., the first one is best)

2. How many aurasound ast-2b-4 pro will this power?

Assuming that you have a dedicated “out to powered subwoofer” on your receiver/amplifier, so the speakers are wired directly from the receiver/amplifier to the speakers (not shakers), then the “high level out to speakers” on the SA70 will accommodate two shakers. If you don’t have a dedicated sub out on the receiver/amplifier and are wiring from the left/right speaker speaker “outs” on the receiver/amplifier to the SA70, then you have ZERO capacity to wire shakers. RE: The SA70.quite under powered. The Dayton Audio SA100 100W Subwoofer Amplifier is substantially more reliable and powerful; really no comparison.

3. It’s get really hot why?

Yes, it is hot in the event of Working ..All amplifiers suffer from the same heat

4. What are the wires on the back of the device for? it’s unlabeled. would i connect an aura bass shaker to the back, or high level out to speakers?

Those wires are what you hook the speakers or bass shaker too. It is where the amplified signal comes out.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

LarryAZ says: “I have a subwoofer on an old surround receiver in my shop. The sub is ported (never put a ported sub in your shop). I had the port covered with screen. Well, one of these resourceful, killer desert rodents chewed through the screen and proceeded to chew up the foam around the speaker, pee in the amp and burn it up, and crap all over the place. The enclosure is in good shape after cleaning it up, so, … It’s in a shop. Go cheap. So, bought this amp and paired it with a Dayton Audio SD215A-88 8” DVC Subwoofer speaker
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045UY7M8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and with some small modifications to the hole in the enclosure for the amp, I wired it all up. Plugged it in, powered it up and SOB! Nothing. Amp lights up, but no base. Hmmm. DOA? Packed it up and hauled to the house and substituted it for the sub in my office. What do you know? Works great. Plenty of volume paired with the 8ohm speaker. Sounds real nice except for those audio tracks with the over driven base drum. It’ distorts on those, but that’s not the speaker’s fault. Those tracks drive me nuts. So, now it’s back to the shop to see if it is the cable, or if the mouse also clobbered part of the amp in the receiver. Driven at reasonable levels, this sounds great. Good for project with a teenager, for repair of a small subwoofer, or in a shop where it is at risk of rodent attack. UPDATE: The sub out on the receiver is dead. Ancient receiver, so shopping for a simple 2.1 or 5.1 audio amp to replace it..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. If the power going in to this unit is 32v 5amp = 160 watts. How is this unit rated 300 watts?

The nonsense 300w number is ‘Peak’ output.Since the power supply can only provide a max of 160w, it can not supply any more than 160w continuous (even the 160w number is nonsense, as that would likely be at 10% THD, and thus worthless). However, the capacitor could provide a temporary peek bost to get 300w for a very, very brief period of time.Maybe a few milliseconds.

2. I can’t seem to fine the rms watts. does anyone know the true specs? power at 2 ohms, at four ohms. peak does not mean much.

Hello, 300 watt is the MAX power output. The RMS power output is RMS 250watt @ 2ohm, RMS 150watt @ 4ohm, RMS 120watt @ 8ohm.
Hope this can help you. Thanks.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.(Customer Service Email: customer@fosiaudioshop.com)

3. Does the crossover frequency control work with the RCA output to a powered sub as well as to the speaker output to a passive sub?

Yes, the crossover frequency control knob controls the passive sub and powered sub output.

4. If using as a full-frequency mono amp to a passive speaker, can the RCA output still go to a powered sub with the frequency control for the sub only?

Yes,

John says: “Lately I have been working on designing my own subwoofer boxes. Not for cars but for home use either in the basement shop, the upstairs garage or inside in the living room. I have two of the competitors amplifiers. One 100 watt and a 300 watt unit. They are the ones made by AIYIMA. So in need of another 300 watt unit I decided I would try the Fosi brand. I included pictures of the unboxing. The box is identical on the outside to the AIYIMA units, however, the inside contents are different enough to see that it is another brand.
Lately I have been working on designing my own subwoofer boxes.

The power transformer seems to be better quality with this unit versus the others. All dials move nicely and are not loose or unable to hold their position. I set the FOSI unit next to the stereo I am using and then run speaker cable to the subwoofer box.

In my opinion it is better to (if you have a long run) to run longer speaker cable to the sub then it would be to run a long subwoofer cable to the amp. The subwoofer I am powering is twin twelve inch subs mounted in a vented Q-BOMB dual 12 subwoofer box. I wired it to have a final impedance of 4 Ohm at the amplifier.
I have run the amp for 11 hours straight pushing some hard hitting Christian hip-hop style music and it gets barely warm. That is a good sign. You can also tell that the dial for the subwoofer crossover point actually works and set it up to the room and to your ears liking.

This little amp makes the garage shop thump and I enjoy it. Another one will probably be in the future for a different room. Good luck with your projects!

GOD BLESS

john.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. What is the rms power of this amp?

Warning this is a 1000 watt RMS amp at 4 ohm not 500 watts !! I have the 500 watt model still in service almost 5 years now Keep Freq low at subwoofer specs and go easy this amp will blow a cheap sub or cause damage to the amp if not used properly !!!

This amplifier can drive any subwoofer rated at 4 ohms or higher.

3. What is the rms of this amplifier. Rms @ 4ohm, rms @2ohm, rms @1ohm?

It does not support lower than 4-ohms. rating is 1000 watts at 4-ohms.

4. How many channels does this amp have? I have two 15″ 500w 4ohm subs. The amp isnt 2ohm stable so it’d be nice if it was 500w per channel..
