Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. If you’re not wearing goggles, how do you keep the unit in place at the back of your head?

You can clip it to a swim cap if worn, or a swimsuit strap.

2. will this play audiobooks?

The SYRYN plays MP3 files. Audiobooks are not recommended as it will not remember where you left off and would restart every time you use the device.

3. I am guessing that this device will not play FM radio stations?

Correct. It only plays audio that you download (in the correct format).

4. June 2020 – does this product work with audiobooks now? by which i mean, will it play in order and remember where i left off the last time?

Unfortunately the SYRYN does not have the capabilities to remember placement. You can order playlists and skip through the tracks, but it does not hold place in the middle of tracks. Some of our other devices are better suited for that.

I loaded up “Epic Motion Picture” music and the energy is amazing to swim with. I have a Fitmax iPool with a tether and I can just go into my our world without thinking about hitting the end of the pool or another swimmer. The SYRYN helps me stay energized and swim longer (without laps to count it’s hard to keep going). Such a great value on this SYRYN. The company is awesome too if you look up about them..

I have been a regular lap swimmer for over 15 years (also a former US Navy service member). At a minimum I am in the pool twice a week for 35 laps or more. Prior to purchasing the SYRYN, I had a first generation NuDolphin (purchased around 2005) that up and died on me a month and some ago, so I am no stranger to waterproof mp3 and what to expect from them.

SYRYN and Swimbuds have both far exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is as optimal as I could hope, and is hugely exceptional for the cost. The instruction booklet was very clear and concise and easy to follow. I use Amazon Music as my go-to after ditching iTunes some years ago (very long story), and every song I have ever purchased through Amazon was very easy to transfer over to my Music folder on my computer (download the desktop Amazon Music app to make it super easy), then it was just drag and drop into the folder for the SYRYN.

The device itself is even lighter than my NuDolphin was, and I like that the clip is wide, long, but lies very close to the device. I hook-slide it onto my swim cap and it doesn’t budge! The ear buds are phenomenal. They keep all the water out of my ears and keep the sound quality clear and true through flip turns and depths up to 10ft (that’s as deep as our pool is).

As to the other reviews, I’m not sure why they’ve had such a hard time with the functions, especially since it’s spelled out so easily in the booklet (like, 5th grader would say “duh”).

To shuffle songs, simply press and hold the forward and reverse buttons simultaneously until the light indicator switches from red to purple/blue back to red again. To turn off shuffle, repeat.

Volume: Press and hold the up/down button (co-located with the reverse/forward buttons… up and reverse, down and forward… up and down are in relation to the audio jack placement) until you achieve the desired sound level.

Play/pause: self explanatory

Turn on/off: press and hold the play/pause button until the indicator light turns on or off.

Seriously, you cannot beat this player for the simplicity, functionality, quality of sound, craftsmanship, etc.

I’m definitely glad I went with this player instead of the Diver or the costlier options. Plus, the company who stocks this is a home-run, family-run business.

And no, I got absolutely nothing in return for this review..

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Cman says: “I have purchased a similar product under a different name and recently purchased this product and so far have been very impressed with this player even more than the previous version. In fact, I have used many, many different MP3 players for swimming. I swim almost two miles a day and could not get through the boring cadence without the help of music. I have found that this is the best player with all the features that are important to me. In fact, this is the only swimming MP3 player I have ever had to turn down the volume on, which
is impressive.

The volume is key, many players just can’t be turned up loud enough to compensate for the water and this player can go very loud, which is good. Also the ability to feel the buttons (who cares about a screen when you have the player on the back of your head) to move forward/backward is fantastic. Yes, the controls and the limited options are simplistic but that is exactly what you need when your doing serious lap swimming and cannot fiddle with controls. The price is excellent on this product as well. Loading the music is simple as well, just pop it on the old PC and voila, it is a flash drive. No hassle with some stupid music file program like other asinine players. I really like the way it clips as well, you clip it to the back of your goggles. It’s a small nit, but not crazy about the jack input being on the side, wish it was on top but it works fine as is.

However I haven’t used the ear buds at all, so can’t vouch for them. But the H20 short cord ear buds really sound well combined with this excellent player. I have found that the biggest weakness for any underwater MP3 players are the ear pieces. If you are kicking against a wall when making that reverse very few ear buds can take that pressure. The H20 Surge Plus (short Cord for lap swimming) ear buds and the H2O X1’s are excellent but pricey, you can check out my reviews there. These additional ear buds are an investment but they do a great job underwater. You can also use the extension this MP3 players provides to extend short cord ear buds, if needed.

I have loaded 1200 MP3 songs (192k each song), really happy it’s an 8k player. My impression is that this player will play songs in alphabetical order by artist only. So if your playlist is set up that way, then you should be fine with their method but I hate hearing multiple songs by the same artist in a row and prefer mixing them up. The key feature on this product is the shuffle feature and the ability to play a set playlist in the order you want to hear them play. I use that shuffle feature when I get bored with my playlist but the other feature with this product is that it will play your playlist if you put numbers in front of the name or tags. I use a couple of simple free Windows programs called Rename ( a simple app) or Mp3tag (this is a more complex app, but much more flexible if you learn it) that will automatically add numbers to the name of songs I want to hear, in whatever numerical order I want them to play and this player will play them in that order. It also will pick up from that last song the was played previously the next time you turn on the player. (It’s a simple feature, but actually have had players that go back to the first song in the list after the player was turned off.)

Also some helpful tips on using waterproof ear buds:

1. Start with the larger ear bud rubber ends first then work your way down to the smaller sizes if that doesn’t fit. If you use the larger sizes, you get a tighter barrier against the water.

2. Some people use vaseline (yuck, can you imagine putting that in your ear) or wetting the ear buds lightly in the water before you place them in your ear, they think it secures them in the ear better. But I disagree and I have found the best way to keep them in your ear is to use ear swabs and briefly wipe your ear where the buds go (outside of you ear canal, not the inside). That way you’re wiping the oil off you ear and my buds stay in completely during the swim. This is important because if the buds become loose you will get water behind them and you will be hosed for the rest of the swim. However the volume is loud to overcome that with this player, just need to remove the water reset the bud in your ear.

3. When you insert them in your ear pull back the top of your ear with your opposite hand, that will stretch it and allow the ear canal to gently wrap snugly around the ear bud.

It is rare when the water enters the ear canal if you take these three steps you can enjoy the music much better. Hope this helps been buying all sorts of waterproof MP3 for years since they first came out and believe me, went through the gamut on these and read many dumb reviews. I hope this sheds lights on swimming with music, which I really enjoy and helps you avoid the learning curve I had to go through. Happy swimming!.

Yes, the MP100 can send the FM Radio audio to a Bluetooth speaker or sound output device over Bluetooth.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Leslie D. Lanagan says: “This is possibly the best MP3 player I have ever owned. No album art, no fancy interface, just great sound, whether through Bluetooth or wired headphones. I added a huge SD card because I binge-listen to podcasts all day long, and if you’re on Windows, you can use a great app called “MusicBee” to manage both your music and podcast libraries. I also had no problem transferring the music I bought from Apple. I also love that it has a radio with wired headphones, because NPR is a staple in my house. The whole reason I bought this player in the
first place was to extend the battery life on my phone, and it works beautifully. The fact that it comes with a cover is also a plus, because I tend to be pretty hard on my electronics. The only thing is that I wish the cover was completely clear so I could see the readout better, but it’s completely okay- once you’re finished with an album, it will just keep playing other files. It seems to shuffle them, which is hilarious because I have legit gone from Bach to Eminem….. two great things that go great together. 😛

The clip also seems stable, especially if you have a belt that fits it, but I generally clip it to my necklace or my shirt….. because who wears belts anymore? (I kid, I kid.) The size is so small that with Bluetooth headphones, it literally feels non-existent in terms of weight, which is another great big plus.

Because the player is so basic, the emphasis is on the sound and not the fancy interface, which fits my needs perfectly. I have a Sansa that I used as a Rockbox that isn’t as good as this…. although if there was a Rockbox installation for this MP3 player, I’d probably install it…… not Rockbox’s fault. Just not as good a player, and it was more expensive. I’d still have it if I hadn’t dropped ice coffee all over it…………..

If you listen to music and podcasts as much as I do, this player is completely, totally worth it. The last thing that makes it a total winner for me is that I live in a city with a Metro system, and with all my media downloaded, I don’t lose sound underground.

And OF COURSE you can do all this with your phone, even old ones, but I need to save that battery for directions and, you know, being able to call people. In the age of the pandemic, people tend to like video calls, which sucks battery *so* much faster. An MP3 player is a great answer to this problem, especially since the battery life on a player with so few fancy features is incredibly long. Thank you so much for a great product- just putting it out there that I’d love to be a beta tester for anything you have coming down the pike. Your attention to detail is incredible..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Is this product good for swimming laps and using the Bluetooth feature

The product is designed for swimming by swimmers.
If you want to listen to Spotify, Pandora, iheart, etc. with STREAM, there are 2 options.
Option 1) Real-time with Bluetooth: You play music live from your phone. You need to connect the STREAM via Bluetooth to your phone. Play the music on your phone and select the STREAM as the ‘headphone’. Please note that you will need to be within the Bluetooth range of 30ft/10m and the STREAM needs to be above the surface. Some customer are using it with endless pool and it works great. 30ft is not a length of a lap pool.

Option 2) Downloading streaming music to STREAM memory: (due to copyright issues Spotify / Pandora do not allow access to the files). You will need to use an audio recorder – such as https://www.apowersoft.com/free-audio-recorder-online.
I usually play my stations on my laptop during the day – and have apowersoft record the station and create the MP3 files. I then copy that file to my STREAM player – like any other MP3 file. It is super easy and works really well.

I hope that helps.

2. Does anyone also use this for running? If I’m wearing a camelbak or something similar, will I be able to clip this on easily / will it be a nuisance?

If you run with a hat on, you can clip it to the back. It won’t reach your camelbak, unless you try to clip to your strap on your shoulder. But that (the ear piece wires) might not be long enough

3. Does this product support audible mp3 manager?

Yes – the STREAM plays any .mp3 files. For Audible, you just need to convert the .aax files to .mp3 format.
There are a lot of tutorials how to convert the aax files to MP3 files.
Here are few links to help:
https://www.tuneskit.com/audiobook-tips/convert-audible-aa-aax-to-mp3.html
http://www.macsome.com/convert-to-mp3/convert-aax-to-mp3-mac.html

4. I have a subscription w/ amazon unlimited music. i download songs to a running playlist. can i download the same playlist to this mp3 music player?

This is an MP3 player with bluetooth capability. You can either play from memory or by bluetooth. It will play any music you are streaming by bluetooth as long as you do not submerge the unit. To use it underwater, you need to download the actual MP3 files. I use itunes and had to convert my mp4 files to mp3 before I could download. I hope this helps.

I bought this hoping to be able to use the bluetooth feature to listen to Pandora while swimming laps. That part is a mixed success. I have previously tried the waterproof ipods (they don’t last), the finis bone-conduction devices (they get glitchy really quick and lose the ability to connect to computers), the Syryn, and several other cheaper waterproof mp3 players. None yet are perfect, but this one so far is as good as any.
The sound quality is excellent; better than the Syryn, comparable to the ipod. The earbuds fit well and it comes with several sizes included. A bit of vaseline and a swim cap keeps the water out and the sound good for over an hour.
The play from memory works well, although the volume changes rapidly when the up or down buttons are held; it gets louder or softer really fast causing occasional overshoots and the necessity of readjusting the other way. A single brief push of the same buttons skips a song ahead or back, but sometime this happens simultaneously, and unintentionally, with the sound adjustments.
As advertised, bluetooth does not work underwater. This is not a defect of the device, it’s a property of the bluetooth RF wavelength; it doesn’t penetrate water. Also, the distance bluetooth waves can travel is relatively short. I expected these limitations and found I was right:
Distance limitation: With the device strapped to the back of my goggle strap and my phone at one end of a 25 yard pool, the sound does momentary cut-outs as I approach the far end. With the phone to the side of the pool, the sound lasts the whole way back and forth.
Underwater limitation: The sound to disappears entirely during flip turns. If I don’t glide too long before resurfacing, the sound resumes. Also, if I turn my head too far to breath such that the device on the back of my head dips under the surface the sound is briefly interrupted. These minor interruptions were expected and not a problem with the device.
However, a problem does arise if the device is disconnected from bluetooth for too long; either with a long glide after flip turn, or if I push pause, or press the bluetooth button to switch to memory play. In all of these cases the device does not automatically reconnect with the phone. I had to get out of the pool and manually reconnect the phone to the device. This happened numerous times as I experimented with the functions. Disconnection from the phone was caused by pushing pause while playing on bluetooth, pushing the button to switch to memory play and then back, and staying under water for more than about 1.5 seconds.
The instruction sheet says that once the device is paired it will automatically connect to the phone thereafter. This is not correct. Each time it’s turned off and on, or paused, or switched to memory and back, or remains under water for more than 1-2 seconds it has to be manually reconnected to the phone. This is a nuisance, and involves getting out of the pool, pulling the phone out of the bag, unlocking it, getting to the bluetooth devices screen, and selecting the H2O device. It always reconnected after doing this, but it should be automatic as the instructions say.
Finally I gave up listening to Pandora while swimming laps and just finished my workout on memory play, then got out, reconnected the phone, and did 15 minutes of kicking so the thing would stay out of the water and connected while I listened to Pandora.
Bottom line: a good device with good sound quality, but for swimming laps it’s pretty much limited to the memory play feature, unless you do open turns or don’t mind getting out of the water after each good flip turn to reconnect to your phone. For anything else, including doing kicks with the device on your head out of the water, the bluetooth feature works (if it’s on the side of the pool and you’re in the end lane closest to the deck where your phone is), but if you want to switch back and forth between bluetooth and memory you’ll have to manually reconnect to your phone each time, unless it likes your phone better than it does mine (iphone 6s).
I think it’s still a good device just for the mp3 playback, which is what I’ll be mostly using it for.

Addendum 4/19/2019. The device stopped being recognized by my computer. I got the battery low message. I took it home and plugged it into the computer. The charge light came on but the computer did not recognize the device was plugged in and did not read the mp3 files. When this has happened with other devices (ipod, Syryn) I have been able to restore connectivity by cleaning the port with rubbing alcohol. I tried that with the H2OAudio device and it became completely unresponsive; the charge light did not come on when plugged back in. Cleaning again did not help. The device is dead. Too bad, it was very nice while it worked.

Another Addendum 11/18/2019
My Syryn’s power/pause button became increasingly glitchy so 2 months ago I bought another H2OAudio. Since my original one died the manufacturer has added a plastic tube device through which you plug the earbuds. It makes a quite tight seal that (probably) keeps out water. When I first opened the package and saw the new connector I was a bit doubtful that would be sufficient. I got out the earbuds that came with my first H2OAudio device (they are the same as the new one) which I had been using with the Syryn, and plugged those in. It made such a tight seal that when I tried pulling it out the insulation at the base of the earbud connector wire split. That warned me to be more careful with the new earbuds. It has been through 3 charge cycles now and no problems so far. Contrary to prior advice to disconnect the earbuds after each use so the connection can dry, the instructions now are to leave the earbuds connected to keep out water. I’ve done that except when it was time to charge, which is surprisingly long. I haven’t counted the hours exactly but I swim usually 5 days per week for at least an hour a day and it lasts over two weeks.
The volume controls also work better than on the earlier version.
The sound quality remains very good. The earbuds are the best I’ve tried from any manufacturer. I now have a fairly large collection from my failed swimming mp3 players and the H2OAudio ones are the best fitting and best sounding, which is why I was using my old ones with the Syryn.
I like the feature of a voice telling you when the device turns off and on, rather than just a light, so you can tell when it’s one or the other for sure while wearing it on the back of your head. The Syryn does not have that feature and several times I’ve run the battery down thinking I’d turned it off when I’d actually only paused it and hadn’t noticed the light status. The same voice also tells you when you’re in playback or bluetooth mode.
So I’ve again become happy with the device and use it exclusively for my workouts. I accordingly upgraded the rating to 5 stars. It’s still fairly early days, however: if it fails again I’ll post another update.

Update 8/17/2020 Except for about a 2 month break when the pool was shut down due to COVID I have continued to use the device for all my swims and have had zero problems. By far the best swim mp3 player I have ever used..

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

14liberty. says: “The S07E mp3 player seems like it will be a good replacement for the SYRYN I lost at the lake the other day. I was pleasantly surprised to find that S07E stores content alphabetically, making it easy to upload music lists to play in order, by modifying file names with a numeric prefix. Additionally, the S07E supports three playlists you can compose on the device, and the tool provided is fairly painless to use. The S07E has a display and it is a very nice feature. For what its worth, the AGPTEK web site doesn’t list the SO7E current product –
it is what it is. Oh, and others have mentioned earbuds that come with it have really short wires, so, take that into consideration. Overall, depending on how the S07E holds up to the salt water abuse I give MP3 players, it could be a real good value..

Amazon Customer says: “These headphones are a GAME CHANGER. I was worried about them being too big or too small as a wrap-around but they can be adjusted up and down to find a sweet spot on your head. Also, you can wear them inside or outside of the cap for a more secure hold. Getting the music onto the headphones could not be more simple. There is a really unique USB cord that clasps right onto the headphone and charges. Like other people have mentioned, it also just opens a folder on your computer and you can drag music files into that folder.

The sound quality is amazing. I have used them a handful of times so far swimming laps fully under water without issue. I will say, the first time, it SOUNDED like one side cut out and died, but the next time it worked again. I’m pretty sure it just had to do with water in my ear or something that just needed to be shaken out. It’s worked fine ever since. And even if it had died, the price on these made it worth a try regardless. But I’m glad they still work.

The buttons are easy to use, in a simple spot to figure out blindly.

Last thing- I leave these in my gym backpack and haven’t charged them in a few weeks and they are still kicking. I swim 30-45 mins a few times a week so they are really solid..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. How deep can i swim with this equipment? And how long can i stay in the water with it? Thanks

I’ve been to the bottom of a 6 foot deep pool and didn’t have a problem with them I don’t know that I would go much deeper with them, I wouldn’t wear them scuba diving. as far as how long can you have them on?? I think the battery life is about 6 hours. I love them because I can put them on at te Gym, do a work out then hit the Jacuzzi, the steam room and the pool and never have to worry about them.

2. Is this truly drag and drop for iTunes or must songs on iTunes first be converted to mp3?

Songs have to be converted to mp3. It is not drag and drop.

3. Is there something one needs to do to get the bluetooth to work while swimming? It works on land but not while in the water.

It doesn’t work while in the water at all.It has that information buried somewhere in a description but doesn’t say that on the sales page (unless they updated it).None of the Bluetooth waterproof headsets work in the water and most of them say it plainly but this product does not. I returned mine and got a AGPTEK S12 which has a better battery life.

4. I am unable to get itunes songs to play after i transfer them – if a purchase the songs again from amamzon music, they play fine – is there a fix?

It may be due to the file format of the song. Apple’s digital store uses AAC which is not supported by the earphones. Amazon uses MP3 which is supported.

You could try converting your Apple/iTunes files to MP3. In theory (I have not tried this) you can do this in iTunes by going into the advanced Preferences and selecting MP3 as the output format instead of AAC, then doing File > Convert to MP3.

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Michael D Kelsey says: “If you’re looking for pristine sound, go elsewhere. This product is best suited for swimmers. Be warned…you need to convert your Itunes music to mp3, which while easy is time consuming (best approach is to convert and create a ‘swim’ playlist which can then be easily moved to the Flextreme player). The swim ear bud tips fall off easily and you only get two sets, so be careful with them. And I found that the cable you use to connect to your computer isn’t perfect (I ordered two sets and one of the cables won’t work with one of them). But
all this aside these do exactly what they are supposed to….play music while swimming laps. Really takes the boredom out of the workout. I haven’t used them for running or weights (have better sounding Bose products for them) but for swimming you can’t beat it. Given the low price I suggest ordering a couple. I may order a third just to be safe (and get some extra swimming tips)..
