Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Will this work with the new Xbox One-S?

Absolutely. Just set one up last week for my parents.

2. Does the controller turn off after several minutes like a standard xbox controller?

No, it doesn’t work like a remote control (and using a different transmission standard too I think). The backlights will dim after inactivity but the buttons will always work provided you point the controller at the console.

3. How does this one compare to the smaller Microsoft brand Xbox one remote? (Besides ~2x the size)

The size is bigger because it has more buttons= more options. It is designed as a Media Remote with more Media options than the Microsoft. I would assume after reading reviews and a Talon vs Microsoft article that with the Microsoft you will be going back and forth with your Controller and Remote when streaming video. This is based off online reviews I have read and the article mentioned in a gaming mag comparing the 2 remotes.

4. Any reason why get this remote over the smaller original version besides saving $5?

Its worth the extra money, this is the remote that Microsoft should have released in the beginning. I have both, wish i would’ve got this one first. You won’t be disappointed!
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Tyler says: “This should be the official remote for Xbox one. It has the same feel as the official one with additional functionality. The best part is, it does not nead direct line of sight to work! I was sceptical about buying this remote because some of the reviews said that the volume controls don’t work. I haven’t had any issues with volume or any other buttons for that matter, so it might vary for individual set ups. I highly recommend this remote.

3. Nyko Media Remote – Xbox One

If you are looking for a device that can assist you in streaming content and media with ease, take a look at Nyko’s Xbox One Media Remote. The device can turn on or off your console while having operating buttons such as play, pause, and channel changing. This remote requires 2 AA batteries.

Nyko Media Remote – Xbox One

  • Allows for complete control of Xbox One and most apps including One Guide, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant and more
  • Dedicated controls like “Play”, “Pause”, “Fast Forward” and more allow for easy playback of streaming and physical media
  • Powers the Xbox One on and off
  • Can control volume, channels and power on the TV
  • Powered by two AAA batteries (not included)
Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does this remote need direct line of sight to the console? or Kinect?

Yes. It needs direct line of sight to the Kinect.

2. does this function with an xbox one that doesn’t have kinect?

This remote works perfectly to control any functions within the Xbox One. The only thing that requires the Kinect is if you wish to enable the ability to control your TV from the console (volume, power, channels, etc). I myself do not have Kinect and the remote works perfectly as a “dvdplayer” remote. No more needing to turn on an Xbox one controller every time you want to skip the Netflix TV show countdown, or have to pause for any reason while watching a movie.

3. Do the volume and mute buttons work? It’s advertised they do but it seems you would need a code entry process for it to use TV functions.

Yes the volume and mute buttons do function properly, without the need for a code. The remote should be pointed at the console, not the television, when using these buttons.

4. How to pair with Xbox One?

It works out of the box.
There is no pairing.
What Real Customers Say About This Product?

Mr. McButton says: “First off, let’s debunk the distance issue. I suppose it depends on what your unit is. I have 2 FLIRC IR Receiver devices plugged into a Chromebox and a laptop. The buttons program perfectly to what I want and the distance is fantastic. Not only does it have great distance wherever I stand, it has an amazing IR range. Usually, you must point the remote at the receiver to initiate a transmission. This, however, I can put it behind me back, facing down toward the couch and still have perfect functionality. If I hide the remote completely or cover the front,
it obviously doesn’t work. Given that it out performs any other remote I’ve used of this type, I can’t recommend it enough.

This works perfect for Kodi/XBMC use. I haven’t tested this on a direct XBox receiver, but what I have is great. It’s small enough to fit your whole hand, and it’s rather light (not so that you feel like you’ll break it though). All the nonsense buttons are gone. (Most new devices don’t require number keys or dvd player switch)

I do have a few slight complaints that keep it from being amazing. 1) There is no backlight. The keys are painted bright enough to see in low light conditions, however. 2) The bright green light on the front has no option. It just blinks on press and that is it. I don’t fully understand the function here, but it at least lets me know it’s working. It could be smaller or brighten up the whole pad. It feels like it’s just…there.

For the price (roughly 12 bucks), it’s a steal. Get it, try it out, and enjoy!.

Holy Mother of Pearl this remote is all that my husband and I can talk about since opening it. It made our cumbersome Apple TV into an everyday use item. Plus, this turns the soundbar into our default audio, no more having to play with it everytime we turn on the TV.

This thing comes straight out of the box already working with my Samsung TV and my Apple TV. However, when I used the out-of-the-box setup, the remote would choose which thing to work on. For example, the POWER button would turn on the TV (good), the arrows would work around the Apple TV menu (good), but the MENU button would bring up the Samsung TV menu and not work as a back button for the Apple TV (bad). Super easy fix, I simply programmed one of the 4 devices to be for TV, and another device to work for the Apple TV. Now I get to choose what the MENU button does (heh heh evil laugh). This advertises as 4 devices, but it actually works with 4 devices plus a soundbar.

This will not work for PS3 or other Bluetooth-remote devices.

Holy Mother of Pearl..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Will it work with Roku Streaming Stick?

No, it will not. The Roku Stick does not have an IR receiver. It will work with all other Roku products which do have IR receivers.

2. I’m used to Harmony remotes. If you have multiple devices, can you push one button and it turns them all on, control all devices & knows which it is?

I’ve used Harmony remotes, and I still have some Harmony equipment. This remote is capable of programming macros, which allows you to send multiple (32, IIRC) commands with a single button press. So you could turn all devices on with one button press, and all of them off with a different button press. How you set that up is dependent on whether your equipment has discrete on/off commands, among other things.

3. I have a channel master dvr+ and can’t get the supplied channel master code, or code search to work. any suggestions?

My Channel Master Stream+ (CM-7600) wouldn’t work with either of the codes for Channel Master in the database: 04465 and 03286. I couldn’t even find a code using the code search function. My guess is that Channel Master’s manufacturer changed it’s production such that codes reported by others as working no longer apply.

4. Lg blu-ray player not responding to the codes. how can i talk to someone at inteset?

Thank you for your response. I already did contact thru the form on the contact page and thru email and searched for & then posted it in the forums as well as here at Amazon. You are the only one who responded so far. I was hoping to TALK to someone at Inteset but there is no chat function on the site neither is there any phone contact info. So I have a brand new device that I can’t even use yet. BTW the model # is INT 422.Thanks again for your response. – Todd

What Real Customers Say About This Product?

aaroncgiTop Contributor: Cooking says: “I have been using programmable/learning remote controls for over 15 years. I started with the Universal MX-500 (many happy years with that one!), then URC-R40, URC-R6, URC-200, and finally a Harmony 650 just to see what all the fuss was about. Other than the MX-500, whose button complement is really not ideal for newer devices such as DVR/Blu-Ray, I really have not been satisfied with any of them. This Inteset remote, which is cheaper by far than all but the URC-R6, is a vast improvement over all these others, for my use. Sure, like every remote I’ve ever used, it has
a few quirks, and features I’d implement differently. But overall, it gets all the important features RIGHT. So let’s start off with that:

1. ERGONOMICS. The body of the remote is nearly the perfect size and shape. It’s not too chunky nor too thin, nor too long, nor weighted oddly. It’s quite similar to the shape of a TiVo ‘peanut’ remote, a design for which I have never found an equal. The back side is covered in a material that’s smooth but also grippy (very similar to the MX-500). You can adjust your hand position easily, but it’s easy to grip and doesn’t feel that it’s going to slip out of your hand at any second like a wet fish. I’m looking at you, URC-R6 and Harmony 650!

2. BUTTON LAYOUT. The button layout is excellent, especially so if you’re used to the aforementioned TiVo remotes (and very similar to most DVD/Blu-Ray/TV remotes). The buttons are plenty large enough for my big fingers, differentiated nicely by shape and size, spaced far enough apart that you never have to worry about hitting two at a time, and all raised enough to easily discern by feel alone. I’m looking at you, URC-R40!

3. BUTTON COMPLEMENT. The button complement is among the best I’ve ever seen on a programmable/learning remote. Not only are all the basic functions covered, but in addition to those, we have the four colored buttons, the six ‘PIP’ buttons (ON/OFF, FRS, +, SWAP, MOVE, -), plus the LIVE and ZOOM buttons. Also present are DISPLAY, INPUT, and back (circular arrow pointing counterclockwise). Of all these, only my TiVo DVR uses them, and that only about half, which leaves a LOT of room to program those buttons with extra functions from your original remotes. Though really, only my receiver has enough functions to even need all the buttons on this remote. In particular, having an INPUT button is invaluable. It means that in each remote mode (A, B, C, D), I can program the input button to change the receiver to the input for that device. Certainly, the more expensive remotes can change the input, but usually only in a macro or on the ‘soft’ buttons next to their LCD screen.

4. BACKLIGHTING. The backlighting on this remote is great. It’s a nice orange color, which is far easier to see and read labels on than blue, yet a bit brighter than red. It’s not super dim like some more expensive remotes – looking at you, Harmony 650! However, even without the backlight, the buttons are so well labeled with a fairly large font, that they are easily readable even if you just have a little bit of light in the room. But really, with the layout and size/shape differentiation, you could pretty easily operate this by touch alone given time.

5. PROGRAMMING. Programming of the remote could hardly be easier. The instructions are well written and easy to follow, and in just an hour or so I had it programmed and working my four devices (Receiver, Blu-ray, TiVo, TV), including learning functions not present in the pre-programmed code. The only quirks I found are in the learning mode. On step 5, where you press the button on the Inteset onto which you’re going to learn a new function, it says the LED will stay lit for three seconds. It’s actually flashing (at a very rapid rate), so I thought it was defective at first and wasn’t going to learn anything. I discovered that is what they mean by ‘lit’, and you have to press your source remote while it’s flashing rapidly. Also, it says if you don’t press any button within 10 seconds it exits programming mode, which is fine – but it seemed more like 6-7 seconds to me. It seemed to time-out a lot faster than I would hope. But, the great part is that you don’t have to repeat the entire process for each button. Once one button/function is learned and accepted (two LED blinks), just press your next button and go! That really speeds up the learning process and is excellent. I didn’t run into any situations where it failed to learn a command from my original remotes – not something I can say for any of my URC products! I found programming macros to be equally straightforward and simple. As for the learning capacity, I haven’t reached it yet. The manual says it’s between 42 to 75 buttons depending on the original IR code. Along with the preprogrammed buttons, that seems to be enough for four devices, even learning almost all the buttons which normally aren’t used by my devices.

6. GENERAL SETUP THOUGHTS. As I mentioned before, having an INPUT button allows me to program that button to switch the receiver’s input to the current device. My TiVo is the only component for which I used the colored buttons, so I instead programmed the Red and Green buttons to be a discrete OFF and discrete ON, respectively, for my receiver and TV, and a power toggle for my Blu-Ray. This allows me to then use the power button at the top right to be used as a global (device independent) macro to turn everything on. I then created another global macro on the ON/OFF button near the bottom left, to turn everything off. I used the SWAP, FRS, and MOVE buttons to create three more global macros which will switch to either my computer, TiVo, or Blu-Ray, the only devices we really use – switching the receiver and TV inputs as needed. In that sense, they’re like the ‘Activity’ buttons on a Harmony. I programmed the INFO button to operate the ‘Display’ button of my devices, for consistency with the TiVo, as essentially their Display function does the same thing as the TiVo INFO button. Then I programmed the DISPLAY button to operate my TV’s ‘Wide’ function so that it’s available in all modes. In any case, I really love how many buttons this remote has, which gives you ultimate flexibility to set it up in a way that’s logical to YOU and your system. A final note about MACROS: I was pleased to learn that the macro will leave the remote in the device mode of the last command sent in the macro. So for example, if you have a macro which turns on every component, switches inputs, etc, and the last command sent was the power command for your Blu-Ray player, the remote will stay in the device for your Blu-Ray. Sweet. I have read that some remotes with macro capability do not do this, but it’s such a common sense idea that it should be the standard for all remotes with macros.

7. DRAWBACKS. The downsides to this remote are few and relatively minor, but I’d be remiss to omit them.
a. Let’s start with the backlight. There is no dedicated button to activate it, nor is there a motion sensor like on some more expensive units. I can’t recall another backlit remote which didn’t have at least one of these ways to activate the backlight. For this unit, you have to push one of the function buttons to activate the light. That’s fine, really – you just need to try to remember to use a button which isn’t going to adversely affect your viewing. I also find the backlight doesn’t stay lit as long as I would like, nor is there a way to change the time. Also, I find it curious that it blinks out when you press a button, after it’s been activated.

b. There are only four devices. For a large system with lots of components, that may make this remote control a non-starter. However, depending on what those components are, you may be able to get by. Realistically our viewing consists either of TiVo (which does OTA TV as well as Netflix/Amazon/YouTube streaming) or Blu-Ray/DVD. So that’s four devices. Sure, I have a separate CD player and a VCR, but they get used so seldom that it’s not a huge deal. I can just get out their original remotes, or get off my butt. Though really, since I have two devices (Receiver and TV) that don’t use the transport functions, I could actually program the CD/VCR transport functions into those devices, if I were so inclined. Still, for the price, this does way more than I was expecting. I would rather purchase two or three of these units and program them all, vs most all of the 6-12 device units.

c. The button feel isn’t great, it’s a little mushy rather than solid. It doesn’t compare to the TiVo remotes in that regard, but I haven’t found a programmable remote which does, so can’t say this issue is exclusive to the Inteset.

d. Honestly can’t think of any other faults right now, but will update this review if I find any!.

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Do I have to download something for it to work on steam games or will it just work if I plug it in?

I am using Windows 10 and it was discovered and installed as an XBox 360 controller and is seen as an XBox 360 controller by Steam games. I did not have to install anything and it all works perfectly.

2. About how many times approximately can this controller be hurled against the wall before it loses functionality?

I’ve never hurled it at a wall, but I have dropped it from a height of about 24 inches to a hard wood floor (i’m a klutz, I know), more times than I can count and it still works great.

3. Will this work for old Atari or Nintendo, etc. games being played on pc, windows 10?

For emulated games it would depend on the emulator. Most of them have options to configure a controller. For regular games just use the included drivers and it works just fine for Windows games.

4. Will this work with minecraft pc?

Yes works fine

Before getting into the review, let me just say that I have bought easily more than 100 various USB controllers over the last 3 years. I buy them to be used with setups I sell to friends and acquaintances. The version of USB controller I have purchased the most has been XBOX wired controllers like this one. I have purchased variations of the same setup from multiple different sellers with prices ranging from $13 to $20.

With that said, this one is by far the best one I’ve ever purchased. Since there are no CONS to this controller, let me go into the PROS given my experiences handling a good 50 other XBOX wired controllers I’ve purchased.

– THE BUTTONS: They are properly seated and solid. By that I mean when you shake the controller, there is no chattering that you would hear. Other ones on Amazon for around the same price sound like a box of Tic Tacs when shaken due to the individual buttons being a short distance away from the rubber stops on the circuit boards. This issue with other controllers leads to failed presses of the buttons and also makes the controller overall loud to use.

– THE CASING RIGIDITY: The controller casing feels more sound than others I’ve experienced. There is no give when trying to squeeze or twist the casing body in your hands. The plastic of the casing is either thicker or more supported within, or is made from a better quality plastic blend than competitors.

– THE CASING FLUSH: The two-piece casing is entirely flush whereas I’ve had other controllers where the screw holes didn’t match up properly or the cast was slightly off. This caused the casing body to be slightly off making some sharp casting ends of the controllers stick out ever so slightly as to annoy you when playing. They also had a tendency to creek because of this. Not with this one. It’s solid!

– RUBBER GRIPS: I don’t think the maker even needed to have these, but it’s definitely a plus. They aren’t just for looks as they are very functional over conventional XBOX controllers that tend to slip in your hand when your palms get a little sweaty.

– ANALOG SENSITIVITY: The analog buttons on this controller had a nice gradient of intensity especially in FPS and driving games. Others I’ve had have been as bad as having three settings of sensitivity being 0%, 10%, and 100%. It was a major pain in the backside trying to stabilize aiming in an FPS when the difference in speed goes from 10% to 100% with just a millimeter of movement. This controller has no problem with it.

– DRIVERS (software): The controller paired with my Windows 10 gaming rig faster than I could realize it. It happened so fast that I actually thought it didn’t happen as many others I’ve owned took a second or two to be recognized. No further setup was required as this really was a Plug-n-Play controller.

– PRICE: Like I said (over and over), I have owned dozens upon dozens of these types of USB XBOX controllers. This one is in the same price range as many others that are inferior to it.

Overall, this is a solid and precise controller. Gameplay is far less frustrating when you don’t have to destroy your thumbs trying to zero in on an opponent or finding yourself distracted by the sound of chattering buttons..

This remote is very similar in function to the VL600 Sony, but it feels a bit less fragile.

The key to making the macros work is discrete on and off commands. Thankfully, most modern remotes have separate on and off as well as a power commands on them. I now have my Pioneer TV, Oppo BR, Marantz receiver, and Direct Tv all working perfectly and turning on under a macro and turning off on another. This makes my system bulletproof when I am out of town and my wife uses it. Button A turns it all on and makes sure everything is set up to watch the satellite and the remote is set to operate the satellite. Button B sets everything up to watch the Oppo BR and operates as a BR remote. Button D turns everything off and sets up the system to turn on with button A. There are no toggle power commands, so all the devices are on or off, they can’t get out of sync with some devices on while others are off.

I use the volume punch through so all of the volume controls operate the receiver. Most every command I needed was available via the pre-programmed codes in the very extensive code library available on the Inteset web page. The discrete codes for on/off had to be learned from the original remotes, and all learned quickly except for one. The off command for the Pioneer TV was very difficult to get to work. It appeared to learn the command, but it didn’t work. I had to try short button presses, long button presses, double taps, etc. One way finally learned properly. I tried it so many different ways that I don’t remember which one worked. You can find some tips and tricks for learning difficult IR codes with a Google search.

My one complaint, is you can’t backup the remote. This is a minor quibble considering the remote costs less than $30. But, if you could hook the remote up to a computer and store the settings, you could use this to clone the remote. This way if you damage the remote, you could buy a new one and just dump the backup into the new remote. Reprogramming can be a bit of a pain in the ass.

One last suggestion, do not program any macros onto the ABCD keys until you are very sure you have all the codes you need learned into the remote. Adding them later means you have macros on those keys and requires the macro to be erased first..

Pros: Very responsive with clear line of sight and works at least 20 feet.
EVERY button is programmable to a button on another remote, not just the DIY, so you have more options. I have the 4 DIY set to my samsung TV for Power, Smart Hub, Source, and Pre-Ch and the side volume cradle and mute button also program perfectly with my Samsung remote.
Looks like the Roku TV remote and doesn’t feel cheap, but still affordable.

Cons: Old IR technology from decades ago, doesn’t work from many angles. Could use an update.
No other cons..

Most Frequently Asked Question:

1. Does this remote create activities like the harmony so you can open multiple devices with one button?

You can create a macro and assign the macro to any button on the remote.I had a harmony, and the way the programming is done is VERY different. You don’t have to connect the remote to your computer with a special cable. All programming done in the U1 is done via Bluetooth using your existing native device controllers and an app that you download to your phone.I did have to play around a bit, though, when creating a macro with respect to the order in which the devices are referenced, and the delay between commands.A macro can reference multiple devices. But you’ll need to program each of those devices into the remote first (well, actually using an app that you have to download to your phone). Then when you create the macro you can reference button presses on the remote for any of your programmed devices.

2. Will it work with the Channel Master Stream+?

It will work with line-of-sight for IR control. It doesn’t work for Bluetooth connection to the Stream+.At most I was able to get some really basic control of “up-down-left-right” and “OK” button functionality in Bluetooth mode controlling the Stream+ after an hour of messing with it but it’s not even remotely worth the hassle (no pun intended). It’s too bad because otherwise this is a great remote.Problem is, I bought it to control the Stream+ due to the Bluetooth functionality but it failed to control the Stream+ via Bluetooth so it’s useless to me.

3. Will it work with a pace dvr, model iph8010 ?

If you email customer support and give them a day they will upload the appropriate IR codes that work with your model

4. I’m looking to control cable box, apple tv, ps3, tv, and home theater receiver. will this work?

The Sofabaton will not control a PS3 nor a PS4. Neither of them have IR sensors. I’ve tried connecting to them through Bluetooth but neither of the game consoles will recognize the Sofabaton as a bluetooth controller.
